It is very important that all students follow the uniform code below. We are providing clear advice and guidance so that there can be no doubt as to what is expected. If it does not comply, students will have to correct their uniform on the first day of term and will not be in lessons until this happens. Students are expected to take responsibility for wearing the correct school uniform and comply with this policy at all times in school and on journeys to and from school. Students who are inappropriately dressed will face sanctions in accordance with the school behaviour policy. The school is a learning environment; this is reflected in the dress code. The school reserves the right to exercise judgement in all cases. Uniform Black blazer with school crest* Plain white shirt with collar 1 School tie* Socks will be black. Tights 3, if worn, will be plain black (opaque and at least 40 denier) or flesh-coloured. No May sweatshirts or hoodies be worn? No May my child wear shorts? No May students wear chino style trousers? No they fade to grey and are not smart enough. Can socks be worn with skirts? Yes but they must be black. Black or flesh-coloured tights are also permitted. Is it compulsory for students to wear the blazer in class throughout the school day and in summer? Yes they have to be worn throughout the school day unless the teacher lets the students know they can remove them. Is there a ruling on what coat can be worn over the top of the blazer during the winter months? A coat can be worn but it must not be denim or a hoodie. What should a parent/carer do if they are unable to purchase any trousers/skirts to fit their child either from SWI or a recommended retailer? Send a picture of the proposed item to relevant Head of Year for them to look at and give agreement or otherwise (see p6 for examples of acceptable styles). Are Velcro shoes allowed? Students are allowed to dress in whichever style in which they feel most comfortable in as long as it conforms to the uniform regulations. Do students need to have a particular school bag? No but we recommend a rucksack type which will spread the weight of the bag across the shoulders and should have some fluorescent markings which will show up in the dark but this is only advice and is not compulsory. Yes leggings or training jogging pants can be worn in all PE lessons apart from Rugby & Gymnastics but they both must be purchased from our supplier SWI. One small stud per ear, no ear plugs, stretchers or tunnels. Nose, tongue or face studs, or any kind of facial piercings are not allowed. Jewellery must be removed for PE lessons so any new piercings need to take place over the summer holidays to allow time for healing. Are there rules about hair colour and style? Yes only natural colour hair is allowed and no extreme hair styles. Can my child wear make-up to school? Make-up if worn, should be discreet. Nail varnish should not be worn.
