Southwest Reining Horse Assoc. Newsletter "Track Talk" May 18, 2007 Presidents Message Hello Everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying the great riding weather! The show season is in full swing with attendance at the shows being outstanding. The Year End standings include the Stampede I and II shows and the always popular Reinarama results will be in the next newsletter. The next two shows will be June 1-3 at the Texas Classic show in Fort Worth and the One Hot Reining held in Waco July 26-29. We have been very busy planning our Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity and Show to be held Oct. 24-28, 2007 in Ardmore OK. The added money in the futurity classes continues to increase! We are reworking the schedule slightly to include a schooling class along with the three days of paid warm-ups to insure that our show days run efficiently and timely. Most of the information regarding the futurity and show will be up on our website as soon as possible so please keep checking! Good luck at the upcoming shows and ENJOY THE RIDE! Jeanne Schniederjan Stampede II Show The SWRHA had its second affiliate show this past March in Glen Rose. As usual, Mark Miller put on a spectacular show and many of our members came away winners. Between both the Stampede I and the Stampede II shows a total of $17,600 was paid out. The classes were huge and one day even ran until 5 am the next morning. Mark announced that they are looking into possible schedule changes for next year to try and shorten up the show hours. The largest class of the Stampede II show was the Rookie division. 69 people entered into the class and it took a score of a 71 or better to place in the top 10. That's quite a Rookie event! Jana Simons and her beautiful mare Gunner Hold Your Fire took home the Championship title marking a 72.5, and Melanie Hutchins put together a great ride with Tejonita Jac to mark a 72 for the Reserve Championship. Other members that placed in the top ten include Krystal Towle, Kelsey Jenkins, Sally Amabile, Kelsey Bohannon, and Claire Eggers. Abigail Grabein put together a stunning ride with Chic Prize to earn the Reserve Championship out of 63 entries in the Limited Non Pro class. Jordan Donnelly rode her great gelding Hollywood Allstar to take top honors in both the Intermediate Non Pro and the Non Pro classes. Amy Kowalsky ran an aggressive pattern with QHR Chocolena Pep to take the Reserve Championship in the Intermediate Non Pro. Ron Thompson with Gay Bar Chic were tough as usual, putting together a great ride to take the Reserve Championship in the Non Pro. Never to be outdone, the youth kids put on quite a show with Emily Winegar marking a 72 to win the 13 and under with her talented mare, Good Time Show Girl. Jordan Donnelly ran aggressively as usual to take the Reserve Championship title. Audra Ames rode her gorgeous gelding to win the 14-18 Championship, followed closely by both Courtney Kile and Amber Oldham. Bruce Liggitt showed Dusty Dun Tivio for Pamela Schroeck to be the highest placing SWRHA member in both the Open and Intermediate Open classes. Dean Latimer took top member honors in the Novice Horse Open class with Michael Monfroe's Muskjacwhiz.

Both were big shows with the total payouts over $17600. (not bad for local Cat.1 weekend reining shows!).
