The tournament will be held in Glen Allen, Virginia, July 26 through July 30, 2006. This tournament packet contains general tournament information, hotels in the Glen Allen, Richmond metropolitan area, local restaurants, directions and more. Host League The host of the 2006 Southeast Regional Tournament is the Glen Allen Youth Athletic Association. The tournament will be held at the softball and baseball complex, located at RF&P Park, 3400 Mountain Road, Glen Allen, VA. Directions are available at http:/ /www.co.henrico.va.us/rec. 4 Registration Registration to check in tournament books will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Road, Glen Allen, VA. Directions are available at http://www.co.henrico.va.us/rec. Tournament books will be checked during this time. Please have your tournament documents in a 3-ring binder with your state/league name and age group on the front cover. Please be prepared according to the Babe Ruth rulebook, pages 9-10, Rule 11.04. Coaches Meeting and Tournament Documents There will be a mandatory Coaches meeting on Wednesday, July 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. This is a required meeting for all head coaches and strongly encouraged for all assistant coaches. The Southeast Regional Commissioner, Tournament Umpire in Chief, and Tournament Director will be on hand to review the tournament rules, check documents, and answer tournament questions. Lunch will be provided for those in attendance. Please confirm the number of attendees for managers/coaches luncheon to Lisa harris by Monday, July 17 via email, mrsp3harris@verizon.net Opening Ceremonies Gate admission will be charged and passes will be available. Your team s presence is mandatory. The ceremony will be held Wednesday, July 26 at 3:00 p.m. at the RF&P Football field located inside the RF&P softball and baseball complex. Please be at the complex as a team, by 2:30 p.m. in order to line up before the ceremony. Players and coaches are expected to be in full uniform. We encourage teams to bring their State flag to carry as they march onto the field. Admission Daily admission and tournament passes to the Southeast Regional Championship Tournament are as follows: Daily Pass Tournament Pass 5 years & under... Free 6-11 years... $3 12 years & up... $6 5 years & under... Free 6 to 11 years... $15 12 years & up... $20 Tournament passes may be purchased online in advance of the tournament. Batting Cages/Practice Fields There are several fields within five miles of the complex that may be reserved on a first come/first serve basis. In addition, there are batting cages on site that may be reserved once again, on a first, first serve basis. If you would like to reserve a field or a batting cage, you may contact, Stuart Lewis, (804) 677-6964. 5 Team Introduction Players and coaches will be introduced on the PA system at each team s games. Please have your team roster with players correct pronunciation turned into the scorer s table 30 minutes prior to game time. Protest Each game must be played in the presence of a protest committee. If any protests are made, they are handled immediately by this committee, which is made up of one parent from each team plus the scorekeeper. You must write the name of the parent to serve on each protest committee on your lineup sheet each game. Pre-Game Infield Each team will get 10 minutes of infield warm-up. The Visiting team will go first starting 30 minutes before game time with the Home team immediately following at 20 minutes before game time. Please be ready to take your infield warm-up in a timely manner. We will forego infield warm-up if needed due to any delays or other circumstances. It is your responsibility to take infield at your scheduled time. This helps to stay on schedule. Pre-Game Conferences The exchanging of line up sheets and covering ground rules will take place 10 minutes before game time, with team introductions immediately following. Official line up sheets will be provided. Concessions and Water Please support the concession stand while you are at the tournament. The host will provide water in the dugouts for all games. Action Photography Classic Photography will be onsite during the tournament taking action and team photographs. They will take an action shot of every player for parents to view and hopefully purchase. You will be able to view your child s photos and buy them on the spot if you choose to do so. No other photographers will be allowed to take photos to sell to the tournament participants. Vendor An airbrush artist will be onsite to paint helmets, magnets, etc. We will also have t- shirts and sports jewelry available during the tournament.
Team Photos Needed ASAP! Deadline for submiting photographs is 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, 2006. We will have a Tournament Program and would like to have all the girls participating identified in their team picture. Please send your team photo by Tuesday, July 18 th, or your team will have a Photo not available in their space. 6 Please send your team photograph once you have advanced to the Southeast Regional Tournament either one of two ways: The photograph must be a 5"x7" or 8"x10", color or black and white with identification. Email a digital picture in.tiff format, 300 dpi, gray scale to boy06@co.henrico.va.us. Overnight the photograph to: Gary Boyd, 6904 Stoneman Road, Richmond, VA 23228, RE: GAYAA -SER 11.04 Documents BABE RUTH TOURNAMENT DOCUMENTS Rule 11.04 pages 9-10 Managers must bring the following documents as stated in the Babe Ruth rulebook, in a 3-ring binder to the Coaches Meeting. 1. The tournament team manager must place in the custody of the tournament officials the following documents prior to the start of competition: a. Birth documents b. Certificate of Coverage of group accident insurance policy. c. Certificate of Coverage of league liability insurance policy. d. Tournament team roster certified by League President. e. Letter of League Eligibility f. Consent for Treatment forms g. Tournament Champions Letter of Eligibility (Beginning at second level of play) h. A 5x7 or 8x10 color or black and white team photograph with identification. Note: These documents must stay in the possession of the Tournament Director during each tournament level. These same documents shall accompany the team as they advance in tournament competition.
