Moira Furnace A visit to Moira Furnace is a wonderful family day out and is a must see. The 1806 blast furnace, which is an Ancient Monument, is steeped in history and is set in a wonderful country park alongside the Ashby Canal. The Joseph Wilkes barge operates at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm, and the trip along the canal is both leisurely and relaxing, taking in the local wildlife and scenery.
