Edina Country Club Edina, MN General Manager Search Profile Mission To be a premier country club providing diverse recreational opportunities for members and their families in a manner that is wholesome, enjoyable, family-oriented and of consistent high quality. Vision Edina Country Club is in a strong position for the future and has gone to great lengths to define itself without comparison to other area clubs. Club members value the "family friendly" and warmer, more casual environment of the club. Its membership is considerably younger than other area clubs. This fact generates a unique purpose of the club, to provide amenities and recreational opportunities for members and their families in a manner that is wholesome, enjoyable, and of consistent high quality. The recent success of the Edina Country Club has not caused a complacent attitude among the membership nor the Board of Directors. A long-range plan has been developed to ensure the Club s needs are met in the future. Using input from the various committees of the Club, an extensive list of improvements have been developed which will keep the Edina Country Club at the cutting edge of member satisfaction for the next decade and beyond. The Long Range Planning Committee is always examining ways to insure that the Edina Country Club remains one of the finest private clubs in the Midwestern United States. Golf The Edina Country Club, originally a 9-hole course (known as Thorpe Country Club), opened in 1923. Renowned architect Tom Bendelow designed the 18-hole course that opened for play one year later. With the clubhouse changing locations, the sequence of holes has changed numerous times through the years, but the layout is basically the same. In 2010-11, the team of Tom Lehman and Chris Brands redesigned the course, installing new green complexes, bunkers, tees and fairway grasses -- but keeping the same basic layout.
In addition to the current driving range, construction will begin in 2014 to expand the short game facility (also designed by course architects Tom Lehman & Chris Brands). This new addition will incorporate numerous bunkers and elevation changes that are played throughout the golf course. Expected opening will be in the spring of 2015. The golf course is known as one of the finest in the state of Minnesota. The club has hosted many fine state and national championships including the Men's and Women's Trans-Miss, Minnesota State Open, Minnesota State Senior Open, Minnesota PGA Championship, Minnesota Men's & Women's Amateur, Western Junior Championship, MNPGA Junior Championship, MGA Mid-Amateur, MGA Women's Mid-Amateur, PGA-MGA Cup Matches and several USGA qualifying tournaments. The Golf Shop is the center of the golf operations of the club and is directed by a talented Master Professional who has been with the club since 1990.
