VENUE Llanbedr Airfield Llanbedr Gwynedd Wales LL45 2PX GPS Coordinates: 52 48 18 N 04 07 38 W Access to the site will require a Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Inspection for all vehicles. This will be conducted by Ed Delahaye or a member of the BLSA Committee. On arrival at the airfield please call Ed on 07971 580999 as the perimeter gate is locked at all times. Camping for motorhomes, caravans and tents is available in the hanger on Friday and Saturday nights only. Only pop-up style or free-standing tents are allowed. There is no camping allowed outside the hanger. Entrance to the airfield will be from 1400hrs on Friday. No sailing is permitted on Friday as the airfield will be live. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY Racing is open to all full BLSA members and any non-uk/roi residents who have previously raced in organised, competitive races, e.g. club races, B races, National races, etc., under IBRA Rules. UK/ROI residents must be members of the BLSA. Registration is via the BLSA website shop http://www.theblsa.com/shop/ and payment is by PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account as all major credit and debit cards are accepted. Non-UK/ROI residents must create a BLSA account before registering, instructions are on the website. Please note that you need to be logged in to the BLSA account of the person you are registering, so that if you are registering another member (e.g. a Junior or other family member) you will need to log out and log back in to their account. ENTRY FEES The entry fee for the event for pilots is 55 for Adults and 35 for Juniors and includes a welcome buffet at Check-in on Friday, lunch on both days and an event garment. A 4 EBA fee is included in the entry fee in accordance with the EBA agreement that all National Open Championships will charge this fee. TRANSPONDERS Transponders for BLSA members who only race once a year or for overseas pilots who do not have their own MyLaps Prochip FLEX transponder have been sponsored by Etilec and there will be no hire fee. Please indicate if a transponder is required when registering for the event.
There is also an opportunity to purchase a brand new MyLaps Prochip FLEX transponder with a 5-year license at a reduced price of 100 from Etienne Kodeck. INSURANCE All Non-UK/ROI residents must have valid third-party liability insurance for at least 5m and will need to sign a declaration of insurance disclaimer at Check-in. BLSA members have third-party liability insurance of 10m. As part of the BLSA insurance conditions, BLSA members must have their own sail numbers on all the sails they use to participate in the event and carry their membership cards and proof of insurance. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors race entirely at their own risk. The BLSA Organising Committee will not accept any liability for material loss, theft, damage, personal injury or death sustained prior to, during or after racing. The BLSA Race Committee reserves the right to remove a competitor from a race if they are considered to be a danger to themselves or others. RULES Racing will be governed by IBRA Rules Edition 6. Changes may be made at the discretion of the BLSA Race committee. The full set of rules can be downloaded from the BLSA website. Changes are contained within this Notice of Race. Any additional changes will be notified at the pre-race briefing. Rule E.1 will be modified to use the Right-Hand Rule, i.e. keep clear of the blokart on the right: The Right-Hand Rule requires an extra rule when blokarts meet head-on, i.e. both blokarts change course to the right:
CLASSIFICATION Racing will be Production and Performance classes with the following weight divisions as per the IBRA rules: Lightweight: Middleweight Heavyweight Superweight Less than 70kg 70kg and up to 82.5kg 82.5kg and up to 95kg 95kg and over Competitors will be weighed in accordance with IBRA Rule A4. SCORING, RESULTS and PRIZES Scoring will be by the BLSA transponder system with one discard every four races. Points will be awarded as follows: 1 point for 1 st, 2 points for 2 nd, 3 points for 3 rd, etc., in the respective class and weight division. The winner will be the pilot with the least number of points. In the event of a points tie there will be a countback of the highest positional finishes. Prizes will be awarded for 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd in both classes for all four weight categories. A minimum of one race is required for prizes to be awarded. There is no maximum number of races. The non-refundable Protest fee will be 20, please see the IBRA Rules for the protest procedure. The Protest Committee Chairman will be announced at the Pilots briefing on Saturday. CHECK-IN Check-in will be at the airfield between 7pm and 9.30pm on 21 st September 2018. Competitors who cannot make Friday night will be able to do a late Check-in on Saturday morning, see SCHEDULE section below. Please have your transponder with you, if applicable, at Check-in. A buffet will be available at Friday night Check-in which is free for Pilots and Marshalls. For family and friends of registered Pilots the cost of the buffet will be 10 per person. Please indicate the number of additional persons requiring the buffet when registering for the event. He cost will be added to the total fee. LUNCH A packed lunch will be provided on both days and will be delivered to the pits area. If additional lunches are required they will be available at a cost of 14 per person for the two days. Please indicate the number of additional persons requiring lunch when registering for the event. The cost will be added to the total fee. PILOTS DINNER There will be a Pilot s Dinner on Saturday evening open to all competitors, family, friends and marshalls. The cost of the fixed menu meal will be 20 per person for pilots, marshalls and guests. Please indicate the number of meals required when registering for the event. The cost will be added to the total fee.
The venue for the Pilot s Dinner is off-site so a taxi service will be provided free of charge to and from the airfield for those camping at the airfield. ACCOMMODATION Motorhomes, caravans and tents will be accommodated on the airfield. There will be no camping on Sunday night. MARSHALLS We need marshalls to assist in running the event. Please let us know in advance if you, your partner or a friend are happy to help with marshalling. There will be a full briefing for the Marshalls so no experience is necessary and you get you lunches paid for and an event garment!
