No date is reserved until confirmation is given by SCPRD. Rules and Requirements Indoor facilities must be rented at least 72 hours before the event for a minimum of 2 hours. Rentals shall be requested in full hour amounts. Rates will not be divided for ½ hour increments. All posted park rules must be followed at all times. No alcohol, drugs, fireworks, or weapons on premises. No decorations can be taped, tacked, or stapled to any part of the facility. Setup and cleanup must be included in rental times. All trash must be placed in the proper receptacles. Any outside vendors must provide the Siler City Parks and Recreation Department with proof of Commercial General Liability Insurance of at least $1 million per occurrence. Programs Senior Bridge Join us on Wednesdays from 10am to 12pm at the Earl B. Fitts Community center for Bridge. Anyone 50 or better is invited to come socialize, interact and play Bridge. This is a FREE PROGRAM! Taekwondo For You The Introduction to Taekwondo has been developed specifically for children ages 3-13. Taekwondo For You offers children a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect and discipline. In addition, the program is designed to improve children s motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions. Classes are instructed by Master Antonio Ara and held at the AFE TKD Martial Arts Studio in Siler City. Classes will be held on Saturdays starting September 8th. Participants age 3-5 will conduct class at 11:15am and participants age 6-13 will begin at 11:45am. Registration includes 8 instructional classes and uniform. Registration Deadline: August 17th, 2018 Registration Fee: $50 When: Saturdays, September 8th-October 27th Where: AFE TKD Martial Arts Studio, 105 Siler Crossing Indoor Walking Program Get the blood pumping and your day started right with a few laps at Paul Braxton Gym or Ernest Ramsey Gym. The Indoor Walking Program is offered Monday through Friday 7am to 9am. This is a FREE PROGRAM! Adult Open Gym Basketball The Ernest Ramsey Gym is open from 6pm to 9pm Wednesdays and Sundays for Adult Open Gym Basketball. There is no cost to play however all participants must sign a wavier before playing. This is a FREE PROGRAM! OPEN PLAY PICKLEBALL To cold outside to play pickleball? We have the solution, with 3 indoor pickleball courts at Ernest Ramsey Gym will have you smashing your way through these chilly months of October through April. Courts are open Wednesdays at 9am to 12pm for open play. We have the nets, paddles, and balls, all that is missing is you. This is a FREE PROGRAM! Sponsorship Opportunity The Siler City Parks and Recreation is looking for local businesses or organizations interested in sponsoring a youth sports team or league. With the help of financial donations, we can provide our youth athletes with correct equipment, quality uniforms and an outstanding experience. Philosophy of Youth Sports Youth Sports Philosophy is to offer youth sports programs in the community that emphasize recreational play, skill development, fun, life skills and participation for all. Youth athletic programs are designed to provide healthy activities, develop athletic, social and life skills under good leadership. Youth Athletic Goals *Ensure the safety of our participants *Teach basic fundamentals, skills and rules *To demand professionalism from staff and volunteers *To expect that sportsmanship and fair play is the standard *Offer participation opportunities regardless of race, gender, religion or socio-economic status 3&4-Age Divisions Introduces new players to a specific sport and begins teaching the basic skills associated. Focus is on skill development and fun. Rules are modified to present participants with an optimum playing experience. These leagues are played in house and scores are not recorded or displayed. Games and practices may be held on week nights or Saturdays. 5&6, 7&8-Age Divisions Serves to introduce new players to a specific sport and begins developing fundamental skills for each sport. Rules are modified to provide an optimum playing experience for novice participants. Games and practices maybe held on week nights or Saturdays. Depending on the specific sport, games may be played in house or against county teams with or without displayed scores. 9&10-Age Divisions Builds on fundamental skills for each specific sport and introduces participants to more sport specific game knowledge and rules interpretation. Rules are slightly modified to present an optimum playing experience. Practices are held on week nights and Saturdays. Games are played against other teams from within the county. Depending on the specific sport teams may compete in end of season tournaments or playoff brackets, players may be selected to All-Star teams to compete in additional tournaments. 11&12 and older-age Divisions Designed to promote sportsmanship, teamwork and advance fundamental development. Little to no rules modifications. Practices are held week nights and Saturdays. Games are played against other teams from within the county. How to Volunteer as a Coach Volunteer Coaches are the backbone to a successful parks and recreation youth athletic program. Volunteers donate their time and knowledge to teach our young participants the values of teamwork, dedication, sportsmanship, and fundamental skills in each sport. Youth Athletics Youth Coach Pitch This league is for youth aging out of T-ball or for those that have never played before. Coach Pitch Baseball will be held at Bray Park Sports Complex on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Coach Pitch is offered to boys and girls ages 7-8 (age as of May 1st, 2019). Registration opens-january 7th, 2019 Registration deadline-march 1st, 2019 or until full Youth Basketball Siler City Parks and Recreation offers basketball leagues for boys and girls ages 5-15 (age as of January 1st, 2019). The leagues focus on learning the basic developmental skills and improving existing skills of basketball. Typically, the 5-6 coed division practices on Monday or Tuesday, the 7-8 coed division practices on Wednesday or Thursday. 9-10 Boys and Girls typically practice on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. 11-12 Boys and Girls and 13 and older divisions typically practice on Mondays. Practice days could change pending on number of teams. All games are played on Saturdays. Registration opens-september 4th, 2018 Registration deadline-november 9th, 2018 or until full Youth T-Ball The Spring T-Ball league is open to boys and girls ages 3-4 and 5-6 (age as of May 1st, 2019). These leagues are designed to introduce new players to the great game of baseball, in a fun and safe environment. Practices and games will be held at Bray Park Sports Complex on the newly renovated T-Ball fields on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Registration opens-january 7th, 2019 Registration deadline-march 1st, 2019 or until full Youth Baseball The Siler City Youth Baseball league is sanctioned through Dixie Youth Baseball and is a member of the West Chatham Baseball League. Practices are held at Bray Park Sports Complex Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Games are played at Bray Park Sports Complex and various fields within Chatham County. Baseball is open to boys and girls age 9-12 (age as of May 1st, 2019). Special Events Supper with Santa Before making his big trip around the world, Santa is stopping by Siler City! Don t miss Supper with Santa, where fun family memories are sure to be made. Enjoy a delicious dinner, crafts in Santa s Workshop and picture opportunities with Santa. Santa s Workshop stations will offer children the chance to make fun crafts and keepsake ornaments. Adult Tickets are $10 and children under 12 are $5. Everyone must have a ticket to enter. Min.10/Max.40 Space is limited. When: Friday December 7th, 2018 6:00pm-8:00pm Where: Earl B. Fitts Community Center, 111 S. Third Ave. Registration deadline-november 30th Spring Chicken Festival Siler City Parks and Recreation Department is bringing back the Chicken Festival. Join us downtown Siler City to enjoy the inflatable attractions, games, crafts and food trucks. Vendors will open at 9am. Bounce Houses and attractions will open at 10am and are FREE. Bands are scheduled to begin at 1:00pm and continue until 6:00pm. This is a Rain or Shine event. When: May 4th, 2019 Where: Downtown Siler City Fall-O-Ween Carnival Grab your costume and join the Parks and Recreation Department for an evening of Trunk R Treating, games, inflatable attractions, and more. The night concludes with a movie in the park on the outdoor movie screen at 7:30pm. Admission is FREE!!! This is a Rain or Shine Event.
