TENPIN BOWLING AUSTRALIA LIMITED ASIAN SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM SELECTION CRITERIA Tenpin Bowling Australia Limited are seeking nominations from elite eligible bowlers who are current Silver Level TBA Members in 2010 and 2011, interested in representing their country at the Asian School Tenpin Bowling Championships to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from May 9 th 16 th 2011. If nominations are received from more than 8 Australian boys and 8 girls, a TBA Limited selection roll-off will be held to select teams. We seek nominations from the top 20 male and female juniors in the Youth Rankings, as per the TBA National Rankings as at the 31st of December 2010, i.e. The top 20 junior bowlers appearing in the Male Youth Rankings The top 20 junior bowlers appearing in the Female Youth Rankings Bowlers who wish to represent their country and who believe they have a genuine cause to apply for exemption to the rankings criteria can apply to the TBA board through the TBA CEO. A completed Nomination form and any exemption requests for this event must be sent to the National Office before close of business 5pm Queensland time on the 10 th December 2010. Late nominations will not be accepted. Eligibility Age eligibility is for Students who are born on January 2 1992 and after. Please note the Asian Bowling Federation are yet to release their age eligibility criteria and therefore is subject to change. Definition of Student Bowlers are required to be full time or part time Students either at (School, University or TAFE). Please note apprenticeships are not considered to be students. A letter from your education facility will be required with your nomination as proof of attendance. Asian Schools Tenpin Bowling Championship Team Selection Criteria: 1. 4 boys and 4 girls will be selected by the national coach Chris Batson. The national coach s selection will be made taking a number of factors into consideration including talent, potential, general attitude, ability and willingness to be coached, and is deemed a good ambassador for the sport. 2. The 4 highest ranked boys and girls from a selection trial to be conducted during the National Youth Cup on 8 th and 9 th January 2011 at Werribee Superbowl will be offered the final positions in the team. Please contact Werribee Superbowl to book your spot in the 2011 National Youth Cup. The top 4 eligible participants in both the boys and girls divisions with the highest total pinfall at the end of the 10 game qualifying will be invited to represent Australia as part of the Australian Asian School Tenpin Bowling Championship Team. If 4th & 5th placed athletes in either the boys or girls team at the
end of the selection camp are tied on pinfall, the National coach reserves the right to make the final decision as to who will be included in the team. At the conclusion of the selection trials Tenpin Bowling Australia Limited will name two reserves in both the boys and girls division in the event that a team member is unable to partake in the Asian Schools Championship in May 2011. The reserves will be selected by the National Coach. IMPORTANT INFORMATION Tenpin Bowling Australia Limited is in the final stages of negotiating an equipment sponsor for the Asian Schools Tournament. The 16 bowlers who make the team will be provided free of charge 1 plastic ball and 3 high performance balls in addition to two double tote bags to be used in the Asian Schools tournament. These balls must be used in the Asian Schools tournament and no other competing brand of bowling balls can be used. Additionally, it is a requirement that bowlers continue to use only the sponsor s equipment exclusively for a period of 12 months subsequent to the Asian Schools tournament. Should bowlers require additional balls they can be obtained at a reduced price. The national coach will have input into layouts of these bowling balls. All bowlers will be required to sign a compliance form agreeing to the conditions of the sponsorship agreement. Any bowler who is not able to comply with these requirements should not put forward a nomination for the team. COMPLY WITH THE PRINCIPLES OF FAIRPLAY Athletes being considered for inclusion in Australian Representative Teams will be required to take on the role of an Australian Ambassador of Tenpin Bowling Australia. As a sporting Ambassador, it is imperative that you live the principles of fair play. Further information 1. Bowlers will be required to sign the Tenpin Bowling Australia Limited Athlete Agreement. Failure to do so will result in the bowler forfeiting their position in the team. Integrity Play by the rules and spirit of the sport. Participate in the best interest of the sport and other participants, always having regard to governing rules, regulations and standards. Set an example for others in the way you conduct yourself in playing, or spectatting and in winning or losing. Encourage positive actions and appreciation for people s good behaviour and involvement remember to thank those who assist you. Advocate a pure sport environment, free of alcohol, and performance enhancing and illegal drugs.
Smoking in this tournament is strictly prohibited and anyone caught smoking will be disqualified. Respect Value the rights, dignity and worth of every individual. Everyone has the same value and right to be respected regardless of gender, age, ability, ethnic origin or religion. As part of a team, value and utilise the skills, aspirations and goals of team members to help them reach their full potential. Responsibility The buck stops with you.
