Angel Thyme Newsletter July*August*September 2016 Newsletter 35 QUOTE: Speaking of life, my dance card is not nearly full. I believe I am using close to the whole box of crayons and it s a pretty big box. I am content with what I am doing and where I am in life. However, I do love variety! Summer is here in California, Can we say HEATWAVE! Beaches are full and flowers are blooming. Life is wonderful! We can t complain can we Charlie? I ll answer that No we can t! One of our sons is celebrating his 50 th birthday this year and we re very happy for him and all his accomplishments. All we can say is that it s party time Denver, Colorado style. Woohoo!!! Time changes all things as it happens, Fall Seminar for example - will be held at the Marriott in San Diego this year. A new venue. I hope you will be happy with the change. I think we will be - how can we miss with our group. At any rate, there will be plenty of time for painting, eating and all the laughing you can handle. It goes without saying some excellent teaching will take place as well, if I do say so myself. Hope to see you there or in one of my classes somewhere. ~ Shara

Because the horse was too heavy to carry! Why did the British cross the Atlantic? To get to the other tide! What would you get if you crossed a patriot with a small curlyhaired dog? In this newsletter we get our recipe from the Taste of HOME Recipe Collection. They refer to this special pie as Summer in a Pie Dish. When you have an opportunity to taste it you ll know why. It s the perfect pie to cool you off for one of the long hot summer days. To top it off, it s QUICK and EASY! Total preparation time plus chilling is 15 minutes you can t beat that. This came to us from Cheryl Wilt - Eglon, West Virginia. Thank you Cheryl. Wonder if she paints? Who cares! She cooks right? Of course right!!! QUICK AND EASY GUEST RECIPE #44 Lemonade Icebox Pie CHERYL WILT TASTE of HOME Ingredients: 1 package (8oz.) cream cheese, softened 1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk ¾ cup thawed lemonade concentrate 1 carton (8 oz.) frozen whipped topping, thawed yellow food coloring, optional 1 graham cracker crust (9 inches) Directions: 1. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and milk until smooth. 2. Beat in lemonade concentrate. 3. Fold in whipped topping and if desired, food coloring. 4. Pour into pie crust. 5. Cover and refrigerate until set. 6. Serves about 8. Enjoy!

We ve all made appetizers on skewers, fruit or little weenies, bell pepper and pineapples perhaps. Well this recipe is an Antipasti Salad on a Skewer. Fun idea huh! I can t remember where I saw it, Taste of HOME perhaps, a local magazine, maybe Pinterest. It was some time back that I saved it for the newsletter - summer issue and it seemed cool and easy. I m sorry I can t give the source but I know you ve probably seen it or done it yourself. Maybe I got it from Rosie Mae. If I did Rosie Mae, good job you Sweetie!!! We hope you ladies enjoy salad on a stick!!! ~ Cindy QUICK AND EASY GUEST RECIPE #45 Antipasti Salad on a Skewer Ingredients: Artichoke Hearts Red Bell Pepper pieces Mozzarella Cheese chunks Green Olives (or Black Olives) Pepperoncini peppers Salami chunks (Your choice) Brianna s Home Style Real French Vinaigrette (or your Favorite Italian Dressing) to brush-on Wooden Skewers Directions: 1. Alternate ingredients on skewers until skewer is full about 1½ inches from top and from bottom. 2. Brush on your favorite Italian dressing (mine is Brianna s great flavor and no sugar). You are done. Enjoy! 3. Tip: Instead of Salami, boil some cheese tortellini al dente and replace the salami. Of course it won t be Antipasti Oh well. You can always replace with mushroom or cauliflower.

Did you miss it? Well just in case, here are a few pictures that were taken at the SDP Convention last May. Shara said, The venue was beautiful, the trade floor was spacious and classes were great. It was good to see friends I don t get to see all the time. I had 3 wonderful classes and projects were finished before we left. My friend Linda, from Florida, spent 10 days with us and I could not have done the show without her. She helped Charlie in the booth while I was teaching and made things in the booth cute and adorable. Thanks my friend! Rosie Mae and I loved all the handmade items that were sold in the booth, especially the angels in the background there. You know where you can find them. (Hint: Shara s Book - Collection of Angels).
