INTRODUCTION

Kinetico Features No power supply Operating on demand Double column system (duplex) Low consuption of salt Quick countercurrent regeneration Softened water during the regeration

Softened water benefits Reduction of detergents and soaps costs Better performance of washing machines and dishwashers Skin and hair more soft and healthy Longevity of the appliances, and reduction of maintenance Saving electricity and CO2 emission It keeps everything cleaner, removing stains and spots

Softened water - choosing the correct salt The salt for the regeneration of the resin is dissolved in softened water. When reached "100% saturation salt forms the brine. Use special water softening salt, superior quality, in tablets. Do not use granular salt.

Cocurrent Regeneration Service Salamoia The regeneration flow pushes the exhausted ions through the resin bed. This requires a strong dose of brine to obtain a complete regeneration of the entire resin bed.

Service Countercurrent Regeneration Brine The regeneration stream is much more efficient and keeps the always clean resin bed for better regeneration efficiency.

CHECK THE CORRECT INSTALLATION

Field Analysis Check the water quality input (raw) Check the inlet pressure Check the correct installation

Calculation of the compensated hardness Hardness in mg / l + (51 x Iron in mg / l) = hardness compensated For example, for water at 30 f and with 0.5 mg/l of Iron is: Hardness offset = 300 + (51 x 0.5) = 325.5 mg/l = 32.55 f

Installation instructions Connect the softener to the system by means of flexible pipes. Avoid using rigid pipes that can transmit stress to the valve, with the risk of breakage of the plastic fittings or in the worst case damage to the same valve Provide a desander filter before the device The technique UNI 9182 in paragraph 15 prescribes an anti water hammer upstream of each plant. It therefore recommended the installation Provide a System by-pass, made with the classic three ball valves, for any servicing and to perform a mixing of the hardness. The water that passes through the bed of resin is softened to zero French degrees (0 f).

Installation instructions Provide upstream and downstream of the softening the stop valves for opening / closing of the water flow and, always both upstream and downstream of the system, provide for water draw-off taps for a check on the state of operation of the product Connect the apparatus to a suitable drain. The output water from softener is slightly under pressure. Do not exceed a vertical height of the discharge of 1.80 m (with incoming water pressure equal to 3 bar) Pressurize the system with all water connections completed. Check for any leaks from the installed fittings. Maintain closed the valve downstream of the softener, to avoid that the preservative contained within the resin can flow to the water system (it should be noted that it is in any case a food product) For any problems that may arise during installation or a request for the first start of the softener, contact the Technical Department

Metric Disk Replacement Unscrew the lid of the protective cover from the control head (hex screws SW AF 1/4 "- Fig. 1). Remove the plastic poppet (actuator) with its O-ring and the spring (Fig.2). Replace the metric disk. Be careful that the disc is removed with caution and that the other control device bodies remain in their position. When introducing the new metric disk, move outwards, with the help of a screwdriver, the feed arm (v. Fig. 3). Refit the spring, the actuator with its o-ring and the protective cover. IMPORTANT: positioning the cover in correspondence with 5 o clock, to ensure that it is positioned in the correct manner (Fig.1).

Phase Indicator Central Adjustment Screw

Optional accompanying the softener By-pass with 3/4 "and incorporated mixing valve (cod. 14508). Operating temperature up to 50 C (Note: only available for Ergo models, Sumo, Mach 2025s, Mini Enki, Mach 2050s, CC series); Hardness kit to control the level of calcium and magnesium in water (cod. ETK0008); Bioclormatic 5, electrolytic manufacturer of chlorine with battery operation (cod. BIOCL5); IMPORTANT: installed upstream of the softener a suitable protective filter.

Regolation by-pass 3/4 Using silicone grease and O-ring supplied before installing the bypass water softener. The metal clip serves to maintain the hooked by-pass the softener: for fixing use the metal pin supplied. Connect the hoses in the correct way, following the arrows imprinted on the valve and the bypass. Regulate mixing screw Completely opened Completely closed

It is recommended that during the start-up phase to maintain the fully closed mixing valve. Then carry out the mixing in the following, in order to obtain a "tail" of residual hardness In place of the by-pass, if you ordered the softener with normal plastic pipe unions 3/4 "BSP, install them after greasing of the o-ring seal and secure them always with the same metal clip supplied By-pass Valve Pin with head Stirrup In/Out Sealing Rings

First start-up operations When the setting and adjustment phase is complete, the softener is ready to start. First, it is advisable to put in pressure the system, checking that there are no leaks from the fittings and the pipe unions. Then slowly open the gate valve upstream of the water softener and keep that in valley closed. After waiting a few minutes for the softener to finally be pressurized with a star screwdriver, push on the central adjusting screw and rotate slowly clockwise until the actuator has advanced the cursor (phase indicator) to the " Brine / Rinse " position (suction brine / slow rinse). You should hear four or five "clicks" as you turn the screw. At this point you should also feel the water flowing towards the drain. After waiting for about 5 minutes, the suction and slow rinsing phase can be accelerated (only at first start), always turning the central adjusting screw clockwise, thus advancing the phase black indicator.

First start-up operations It is recommended to rest another 5 minutes on the penultimate stage (rinsing energetically) to be sure you eliminate well all trace of preservative(it is anyway a food product). The last step is to fill the brine with the water. This step can be skipped. The indicator is now in "12 o'clock" or "6 o'clock" position (imagine the phase indicator disc as a clock). The softener is in service, no drain water is noticeable and a cylinder has been regenerated / rinsed. At this point do the same operations for the second cylinder. IMPORTANT: The filling phase of the tin in this case should not be skipped. It is necessary to make it completely, because by doing so, the softener puts in the shaker the water necessary to dissolve the salt.

First start-up operations After returning to the service stage (no drainage softener, set at "12 o'clock" or "6 o'clock, both rinse / regenerated cylinders), slowly open the shut off valve downstream of the water softener. By carrying out a hardness test in the water softener valley, it should have water at zero degrees Fahrenheit. By using the bypass pipe, mix the required / desired water.

Sumo/Ergo Valve Level 1+2 Level one is made up of four chambers: inlet, outlet, regeneration and by-pass. The hard water enters the inlet chamber and immediately goes into contact with the resins. Contained in the outlet chamber there is a turbine that measure the required water flow. The regeneration chamber is an independent chamber, which is used during the regeneration process. The room by-pass is located between the inlet and outlet chambers. During the regeneration process, the chamber of the by-pass is open, supplying raw water to the user.

Level 3 Venturi Sumo/Ergo Valve Level 3 interfaces with the level 1 because it transmits pressure signals. It also contains vital components such as the control of the regeneration flow, the nozzle of regeneration, regeneration control valve and the venturi. By-pass Valve Regeneration Control Valve Discharge

Sumo/Ergo Valve Level 4 Here there are four operating valves: inlet / by-pass, output, control valve, brine flow controller and its check valve. Brine Control Valve Venturi Controller brine stream Input/by-pass valve Control Valve Release valve Discharge controlling Exhaust valve

Sumo/Ergo Valve Level 5 This level creates a surface for the proper operation of valves contained in the layer 4. It also includes the graft for the suction of the brine. Brine extraction

Sumo/Ergo Valve Level 6 The last level of the valve is used to direct the flow of water in the tank during normal operation. The flow during normal operation is upflow (cocurrent). The regeneration takes place in counter-current (downflow).

MAINTENANCE

Routine maintenance operations To ensure good drainage performance, lost taps, toilets, or damaged pipes, must be repaired. Keep the pre-filter upstream of the water softener clean (especially if manual self-cleaning). The filter cartridge should be replaced periodically, especially when the water pressure begins to decrease progressively. The life of the cartridge depends on your water consumption and the specific features of your water. Make sure you never miss salt inside the can. Add salt before the water level is visible in the kettle. Use high quality salt, in pastillas, specific for softeners, pressurized and not glued. Some salts contain impurities that can cause problems to your water softener. Always choose a quality salt product specifically for water softeners. DO NOT USE KITCHEN SALES, which generally contains too much impurities and foreign substances. If the salt level is poor or absent, the water softener can not function properly. Keep the interior of the cabin cruiser clean from any sediment or dirt that can be created inside with the passage of time. If necessary clean with only cold water, without the addition of any chemicals (eg detergents or chlorine derivatives). If dirt is formed frequently, change the type of salt. If BIOCLORMATIC is installed, check battery activity status every 6 months. If the LED does not blink, replace the batteries.
