Gahr High School Band Hawaiian Paradise July 4-9, 2019 Suggested Itinerary Thursday, July 4 E KOMO MAI, ALOHA AND WELCOME TO HAWAII Self-arranged transportation to a California airport Arrive at a California airport and check in for your flights to Paradise No monies are included for any baggage fees imposed by the airlines Relax and enjoy your flight to Honolulu We welcome you to experience the beauty and cultural diversity of Hawaii. It all starts as you step off the plane and are greeted with Traditional Flower Lei. Luggage will be collected and you depart for your Waikiki Hotel. Your hotel will have inside corridors with girls and boys on separate floors, chaperones intermingled between. Key packets will be ready upon our arrival and porters will deliver luggage. (Private security can be arranged to secure everyone has a great night sleep including the chaperones.) Tonight we will have a Pizza Party with your local Tour Director. This will include an informative briefing to go over hotel rules, local area shopping and safety. Friday, July 5 WIKI WACKY IN WAIKIKI Traveling to Hawaii s most famous landmark Diamond Head with the experience of climbing to the summit is exhilarating. Only 99 stairs and a 1.4 mile trail separate you from the 763 foot summit where you ll experience a spectacular 360 degree panoramic view. While not hiking, you'll have some free time to grab lunch, enjoy a surf lesson, shop in Waikiki, or just Hang Loose on the worlds' most famous beach having fun in the sun. This evening is your chance to get Wiki Wacky in Waikiki. You ll be separated into teams, given a treasure map and clue sheet. Now it s off to scavenger Waikiki gaining knowledge of its history and culture. Tour Participants will receive a $10 cash back towards dinner this evening
Saturday, July 6 PRIDE OF THE USA Depart for Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial. Today you will learn one of our country s most valuable history lessons: how men and women gave their lives on December 7, 1941 The Day of Infamy. Today s experience will make you proud to be an American and thankful for the freedoms we enjoy today. Information on the USS Arizona Memorial s Witness to History program can be found at www.pacifichistoricparks.org It s now time for a Deli Style Lunch under the shade of Monkey Pod Trees. During lunch, you will have an Educational Presentation by a WWII Historian. Upon finishing lunch, your group will have the chance to represent your hometown with a Patriotic Performance on grounds of the Visitors Center where thousands of visitors come to pay their respects daily. After your performance, you will gather for a dramatic and uplifting Flag Folding Ceremony. Each of folds of the American Flag have a significance and today you will experience firsthand the demonstration of each fold honoring the flag and our military service men and women that sacrificed for our freedoms. Depart for your hotel with a Narrated City Tour, driving through the National Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl), Washington Place, which is our Governor s Mansion, the State Capitol Building, Iolani Palace and the King Kamehameha Statue. Ala Moana Center is the worlds largest outdoor shopping center and also the showcase of performance venues in Hawaii. A Performance at Center Stage is always guaranteed to draw a large crowd of entertainment enthusiasts. Seeing as Hawaii is a cultural melting pot tonight you re going to learn how to dine Japanese style. You will sit in tables of 10 as your Teppanyaki Chef prepares Japanese Steakhouse beef and chicken right before your very eyes. Your group can cheer him on as flames fly to the ceiling. Sunday, July 7 BEAUTY OF THE ISLANDS Depart for a Musical Workshop at the University of Hawaii School of Music. Students will have the opportunity to work with University of Hawaii faculty and staff to increase their skills as musicians from collegiate level instructors. Your Eastern Shores Circle Island Tour will start around Diamond Head, Hawaii s most famous landmark and into the Beverly Hills of Hawaii on to the Blowhole where water
can spout hundreds of feet in the air and then to the Pali Lookout where wind can blow so strong you can almost fly. Arriving back at your hotel, you ll have some time to grab lunch on your own and spend some time having fun in the Hawaiian Sun. Ready to do the Hula? Tonight you are going to an Authentic Hawaiian Luau where you will be doing the hula, enjoying traditional Hawaiian foods, music, entertainment and gracious island hospitality. Return to your hotel. Monday, July 8 HANGING LOOSE HAWAIIAN STYLE Today you will say Aloha as you set sail on a Barefoot Beach Catamaran Snorkeling Adventure. You will board a 40-foot sailing catamaran right on the beach in Waikiki, sail out past Diamondhead listening to jamming tunes as waves splash the decks. Then dive into an underwater world of colorful tropical fish, majestic Green Sea Turtles, and Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins that few get to see. While not snorkeling today, you will have time to go shopping, surfing or just hang loose in Waikiki having fun in the Hawaiian Sun. Tonight is our last night and you ll say Aloha as you Hang Loose watching the sun drop off into the Pacific at your own Beach BBQ with Hawaiian flare. We will also announce the winner of the Wiki Wacky Scavenger Hunt with a truly Authentic Hawaiian Trophy. Tuesday, July 9 ALOHA AND GOODBYE Today is departure day. We bid you Aloha and a big Mahalo for visiting the island, hope you have a safe journey home and take some of the Mana (Hawaiian Spirit) with you. Changing Rooms will be available for late departing flights.
