It was named after Queen Liliuokalani because at one time her beach house and its pier were located here. It can be identified by the pedestrian walkway jutting into the sea that is known as the Kapahulu Groin and the huge "Sunset on the Beach" outdoor movie screen frame on one end of the beach.
