KILSYTH EAST NETBALL CLUB INC Newsletter: April/May 2012 Grading is now over and we are settling into our Teams & our Coaches are doing a great job. Finals will be upon us before we know it, so the Committee has been very busy making arrangements for the remainder of the year... Attached you will find all the latest news for KENC as well as important dates. If you have any questions, please contact your coach or a committee member. Training will continue to be on Thursday nights at the Mc Dermott Ave Netball Courts, Mooroolbark 7pm for juniors & 8pm for Open players. This season we have 9 teams registered and their Game times are as follows: U11-09:20 U13 S5-10:00 or 10:40 U13 S2-11:25 U15-12:10 U17-13:00 OPEN 1-14:50 OPEN 2-14:50 OPEN 3-13:50 OPEN 4-13:50 or 14:50 Commitment to Training and Matches We ask that players and parents ensure that if they will not be attending either training or their matches that they notify their coach as soon as possible to enable things to go ahead smoothly. The club requests that all girls wear black sports briefs underneath their dresses. Bike shorts are ok but they MUST be black and they MUST NOT be visible. The boys don t have to worry as they are wearing purple shorts. This is the club s uniform and if an umpire notices the absence of black sports briefs then the player may not be able to take the court. Also short fingernails and NO jewellery are required for both training and Saturday games. Parents please note we love enthusiasm towards volunteering to score during the game, this makes the coach s job a lot easier and it helps out the club also. Again this season we will ensure that there is always a committee member present at both trainings and matches to answer any queries you may have, and to support and help out in any way. WET WEATHER... In the event of rain on a Thursday night, a decision will be made by the President at 6pm should the conditions be unfit to train. The President shall notify Coaches, who will in turn notify their teams. Training is ON unless you receive a message from your Coach after 6pm. Player s Representative & Tribunal Rep- Cheryl Taylor 0402 545 443. Cheryl is a senior player of our club, playing in our Open 1 Team. Cheryl has been a member of the club for a number of years and has also played as a Rep player for LYVNA. Cheryl is on the Committee for KENC and is our Tribunal Rep & Player s Rep. In this role, Cheryl is available to all our Club members who may have a problem, query of codes of conduct or for anyone who has an issue with a coach or another member of the club that they may feel more able to bring to the committee via the Player s Rep. We have now added a section on the news page for Coaches Comments. You can then find out how all the KENC teams are going week by week and read what your coach had to say about the game. Please ensure to update the Secretary with your current email address. Fees A reminder to all that Winter fees and Uniform payments are now OVERDUE (unless arrangements have been made with our Treasurer - Nancy King 0419 321 882). Reminder notices will again be issued at training. As a Club we remain one of the cheapest in the LYVNA, please ensure you continue to assist us in getting your money in. New uniforms, equipment requirements and our Presentation night preparations are all put on the back burner until we can afford to pay for them with the money we have owing from our members. Purple Netball Skirts As we have now made the uniform transition from the skirts and polo s to the dresses, we now have excess stock of purple skirts. If anyone is interested, or you know someone that may be interested in purchasing some for their school or sporting club we are selling the skirts for a discounted price of $10. Embroidery for the Club If you are handy on the sewing machine, or know someone that is, and would like to help KENC out with a bit of Name embroidery on our new Hoodies and Jackets please contact Mel Bowey on 0418 569 817. Entertainment Books Entertainment books are now available and can be purchased by contacting Sara Barber on 0408 997 228. With $10,000 worth of vouchers in them, you can purchase a book for only $65! Bunnings B.B.Q Our biggest fundraiser for the year is booked again. This year it will be held on Sunday 9 th September at the Croydon Bunnings, which is located on Maroondah Hwy, Croydon North. We are asking for volunteers from each of our 9 teams, so this means - players, mums, dads, brothers, sisters etc (over 16). We will be splitting the shifts by teams and the rostered times will be as followed your coaches will have more information as it approaches but we do ask that you keep the day free in your calenders. 8:30-10:00am / 10:00-11:30am / 11:30-1:00pm / 1:00-2:30pm / 2:30-4:00pm / 4:00-5:30pm This is a very important fundraiser for the club and all support is greatly appreciated. Shopping Tour Our annual Shopping Tour is on again! If you love shopping, then this is the KENC fundraiser for you. This year it will be held on Sunday 14 th October. A deposit of $25 is required to hold your place - total cost will be $50 which includes a restaurant lunch and bus travel around for the day. Presentation Night Come along and celebrate the end of the 2012 Winter Season with a DJ, dancing, raffle, games and trophy presentations! This year it will be held on Saturday 8 th September (Grand Final Day) at the Coach & Horses Hotel, Coventry Room (upstairs), 33 Maroondah Hwy, Ringwood. Keep the date free!
