Notes from the Staff From the Pro Shop Thanks to everyone! The Golf Course is looking great. Thanks to everyone for taking pride in your course and doing your part by driving your carts 90 Degrees, sanding your divots and fixing your ball marks on the greens. The cooler weather is coming soon. Fall is the best time of year to play golf. When the new fairways on the back nine open (projected the last week in September) and we're able to play the entire course, it's going to be awesome. Notes from the Staff From the Golf Course Are you ready for some football? September is already here and that means Friday night lights and dove hunting. Hopefully, before long we can get a break on this heat and have some cooler than normal temps for a change. The golf course has been in great shape this year. We have been receiving many compliments on its condition. The grounds crew has worked hard and diligently at improving the course daily. Kudos to those guys for all they do. As many of you know and are aware, the grassing on selected fairways has been completed. We will continually mow and slowly lower the height of cut and should be back on them by the end of the month. We will not drop the height of cut as low as the other fairways. This will allow some protection for the newly established grass for the winter. We have one last greens aerification scheduled for early this month. Also, we will be applying some pre-emergent to help alleviate winter weeds. Swing hard in case you hit it!! John Tarpley Golf Course Superintendent John Tarpley Golf Course Consultant John Tarpley Golf Course Consultant From the Tennis Courts Congratulations to Kristen and Kelsey Bettencourt, this is the fifth year to play on the Jr. Grand Prix East Texas team. Notes from the Staff From the Club Manager September is here, and summer is history - by the calendar anyway. I m sure this heat will probably be here till mid-october. Labor Day weekend is the time for golf, the lake, our swimming pool and lots of sunburned bodies. As we prepare for the season to change which won t happen till November, we start planning for the holiday season. Our busy season is October, November and December - no worries with payroll but our slow months can get a little hectic paying the bills - which comes to a pet peeve of mine and the Controller. Every month, regardless of business we have over $18,000 in dues past due. So I just wanted to make everyone aware of what s going on financially. It would be a whole different story if our dues structure was at $350.00 or $400.00 a month. In other words, we re operating on a very tight rope so please try to keep up. I d like to thank everyone for making the August Birthday buffet hugely successful - although we had reservations for 59 and we ended up with over 120 for the evening. We re sorry about running out of the Crab but all good planning goes away when reservations aren t made. So, if you can remember...call Kim or Stacie in the office and tell them you ll be there. Quick reminders about Septembers calendar - Labor Day Scramble, Sept. 3rd at 9:30am, Uncle Fletch Burger Fest on the 22 nd (we could use some help), Chris Weisinger playing for Member Appreciation on the 21 st from 7-10 pm and the Ladies Club Championship on the 23 rd.
