The deadline to request a letter of recommendation from your teacher and Counselor is Friday, November 15 th. If you are applying to any common app schools a letter from your counselor is required, so please make an appointment to see your counselor as soon as possible. Please visit the counseling webpage for vital information. All appointments are made in the counseling office. LUNCHTIME TUTORING CENTERS AND THE AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING: Times and locations: Writing Center B12 Lunch M-F, Math Center D22 Lunch M-Th, Science Center C5 Lunch M-Th. The after-school tutoring center location is permanently being moved from the cafeteria to B12. We are open Monday-Thursday from 2:15-3:30 and you can get help/tutoring in any subject area. PRINCIPAL S COFFEEs are scheduled at 8:30 a.m. in the cafeteria for October 25 th and November 29 th. PLANNED STUDENT ABSENCES: If your student is planning to be absent from school for one or more days (college visits, vacation, etc.), please have them complete a Planned Student Absence form at least two weeks prior to absence if possible. You can find this form on our website and at the attendance office counter. A written request with an explanation from a parent for the absence must be attached. It is submitted to the Dean of Attendance for review then taken by the student to each of their teachers for signature. ATTENTION STUDENTS WHO DRIVE TO SCHOOL: This year, students who have parked at Borchard Park have done a fantastic job parking only in the designated spaces. Thank you very much. Your cooperation is appreciated by Borchard staff members and NPHS administration. However, please be advised that if you park on campus, you must park in the designated student parking lot. At no time may any student park in any part of the staff lots, whether or not the spots are specifically marked. This includes the spots in front of the A building parking lot. Staff lots are between the two driveway entrances, and along the B, C, & D buildings. Students who park in these off-limits areas will be fined and required to move their cars. ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: You must use the crosswalk at Lesser Drive or the near the Marquee if you need to walk across Reino coming to and from school. Walking to the stoplight is not nearly as inconvenient as causing an accident. Laws are in place for your safety and the safety of others.

The Panther Prowler newspaper is the official student publication of Newbury Park High School. STUDENT RESTROOMS OPEN DURING SCHOOL HOURS ARE LOCATED IN THE D- BUILDING ON THE QUAD SIDE, AND IN THE C-BUILDING IN THE MIDDLE STAIRWAY. THE SAFETY OF OUR STUDENT IS ALWAYS UPPER MOST IN OUR MINDS. MOTOR OFFICERS ARE HELPING KEEP OUR STUDENTS SAFE BY GIVING CITATIONS TO THOSE WHO JAY WALK OR ENTER THE CROSSWALK AFTER THEY ARE PERMITTED TO DO SO. AS A REMINDER TO ALL STUDENTS, no instruments or sports equipment will be allowed to be dropped off or stored in the lobby as we will not be responsible for them. You must make arrangements before the start of school to store these in your class. LOST & FOUND: Students are responsible for checking the lost and found in the office for any misplaced items. Please note that all items not claimed will be donated at the end of every month. COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER Aviation Career Day - Friday, October 20th - Field Trip (sign up by this Friday the 13th): A few spots still open! "Get up close to aircraft and equipment, and learn what it takes to get started in aviation! The club is called IEL (Interscholastic Equestrian League) and we compete in four shows throughout the school year at the Hansen Dam Equestrian Center. We encourage English or dressage riders to join! LATINOS UNIDOS Club meets every Wednesday at lunch in room B-30. HEALTH OCCUPATIONS STUDENTS OF AMERICA meets in E-10 at lunch every Friday. If you are interested in a career in the health, field come join us. The JEWISH CULTURE interest group meets Thursdays, starting September 21 st in B3. All are welcome and encouraged to come learn about Jewish culture, especially those who are not Jewish! Hope to see you there. FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES (FCA) meets every Thursday in E-10. All are invited to attend, play games, listen to a speaker & hang out. The NPHS GAY-STRAIGHT ALLIANCE meets every Friday at lunch in room B-2. We welcome back returning members, and encourage new members to join us. Everyone is welcome! DRAMA CLUB meets Wednesdays at lunch in room G-2. LITERARY MAGAZINE will have its first meeting on Wednesday, September 20 at lunch in room B-2.

SPORTS Boys Basketball tryouts will be held Friday, November 10th from 9:00-Noon in the high school gym. NPHS GIRLS WATER POLO preseason training is held Mondays and Wednesday from 5:30pm - 7:30 pm at the NPHS pool. If you have any questions, please contact david.gleisberg@gmail.com. GIRLS SOCCER TRYOUTS: For anyone who has not played on an NPHS team new player tryouts begin Wednesday, November 1 st thru Friday, November 3 rd from 2:30-4:30 at Peppertree Park. Plan to attend all three days. Wear soccer attire. Bring cleats, shin guards, running shoes and water. Returners and new players who advance the first week will continue Monday, November 6 through Friday, November 11 th from 2:30-4:30 at Peppertree Park. Plan to attend all five days. Wear soccer attire. Bring cleats, shin guards, running shoes and water. BOYS SOCCER TRYOUTS will be held at Peppertree Park from 2:30-4:30pm. For new players who have not played on the NPHS team, tryout dates are 11/1, 11/2, 11/3, 11/6 and 11/7. For all returning players, tryout dates are 11/8, 11/9 and 11/10. GIRL S BASKETBALL TRYOUTS will be held Tuesday, 11/7 and Thursday, 11/9 from 7-9p.m. in the gym. Plan to attend both days.
