The U13A's haven t had a game for a few weeks due to the Camogie Feile, and they took their frustrations out on a game Erin s Isle team last Monday evening. After a very physical encounter earlier in the season in which the 'Boden girls struggled to a 1 point win, we were hoping that the improvements in performances since then would continue. A point nearly directly from the throw in by Zenouska was the ideal start,..and 4 points from Danielle added to a 'poachers' finish by Leah gave us a half-time lead of 1-5 to no score. There was no letting up in the second half with 2 further points from Danielle and a great finish to the net by Eimear for a fine goal,..for a final score Boden 2-7 Erin s Isle 0-0. Great performances all round, with rock-solid defence led by Saoirse in goal,..the fast improving Mairead with U.S.A. bound Laura and the ever-consistent Hannah in the fullback line..rebeka, Jane and Grace steady as ever in halfback, Sophie running tirelessly as ever in midfield...and a great forward performance from Shauna, Aoife, Aine, Ciara and our new full-forward Ellen. The girls have shown great desire in the last few matches and it was great to see a fine performance being rewarded on the scoreboard...onwards and upwards from here!!!! Gerry White
2. News from the Lion s Den Huge effort all round against Castleknock Castleknock 6-0 Ballyboden 2-0 The Lions had a tough match against Castleknock two weeks ago. We had a really strong first half and were leading at half time 2-1 with all playing very well. In the second half Castleknock upped their game with some vital changes in defense. A score just after the restart for Castleknock really gave them confidence and went on to win. Ballyboden tried really hard but went down in the end with a huge all round effort. Match winning saves and super scores against Cuala Ballyboden 5-0 Cuala 4-0 A great match was played by Ballyboden and Cuala on Sunday. The first half saw Eve O'Donoghue score a great overthe-bar score and another from Rachel Bourke. Also, some great saves and puck-outs from Sarah Mulvey in goal. In the second half it was a really hard fought game with both teams fighting for every score. Emelene Kennedy got a terrific goal and Niamh Higgins made a match winning save at the end. Ballyboden won out 5-4 in the end and a great team effort was made by all!! Match Reports - Martin Bourke U11 Mentor Pictures - Taken By Eoin Mulvey)
Weekend Match Reports Thrilling Game for Panthers Naomh Barrog 1-0 Ballyboden 0-0 A thrilling game was had on Sunday against Naomh Barrog in Kilbarrack. The game was played on astro turf which was difficult for the girls to get used to. In the first half Naomh Barrog had the upper hand and scored in the 20 th minute. In the second half a different Panther team came out on the pitch. Nearly all the action was down in the Naomh Barrog half, with several goal line clearances by a stalwart defence on behalf of N. Barrog. The Panthers just could not get the ball into the net despite the valiant efforts of Helena, Aoife, Madeline, Sarah and our super subs from the Academy, Lucy, Aisling and Naomh! Cora Ryan had a great 45 which just went left of the post and the rest of the team played their hearts out. It felt like we won except for the score-line! Hopefully our luck will turn with our next fixture. Barry Great win for Boden against strong Kilmacud side Ballyboden 2-0 Kilmacud 0-0 Good win for Ballyboden on Sunday in sunny Glenalbyn, making it our second win over Kilmacud this season. Unlike earlier in the year this was a comfortable win underlining the level of improvement the girls have shown throughout the year. The goals came either side of half time from Rachael Bourke and Emilene Kennedy. Niamh Higgins deserves mention for her best ever game in a Ballyboden jersey and a great level of improvement. Well done to all the girls. Above: Team pictures from the U-9 game vs. Good Counsel (Source: www.dublincamogie.ie)
3. Community gets behind Camogie for 2010 Danny Griffin has once again come up trumps on the sponsorship front when he secured the support of the Knocklyon Parish Community for the Senior A Camogie team. Speaking at the launch last week Sinead McNeela thanked Fr Jimmy Murray P.P. who was present on the night and assured him that the finances would be invested wisely in the team over the coming months. It remains challenging to secure finances and sponsorship for anything, and the girls are extremely grateful of the kind support from the parish. Fr. Jimmy Murray spoke about the importance of community and he emphasised the great work done by the club within the community. He recognised the efforts of all of the players, mentors, volunteers and members and wished each team well for the year. Special thanks to those who provided refreshments for the evening and to all who supported the launch. Pictures courtesy of Mark Magahran: Top: (L-R) Anne Griffin, Sinead McNeela, Danny Griffin, Fr.
