Indr Sccer Rules All games will be gverned by the fllwing Viking Intramural Prgram mdificatins: Players & Equipment 1. Eligibility - See Intramural Handbk 2. Each Men s, Wmen s, team shall cnsist f five (5) players. Each team must have a minimum f fur (4) players in rder t begin a game. Fr safety reasns, n game will be played with fewer than fur players. 3. A regulatin Futsal ball shall be used fr play. A game ball will be prvided fr each game. 4. Shes: Tennis shes are the recmmended ftwear. Players may nt play bareft. N cmbat bts r hiking bts may be wrn. Tennis shes must be apprved curt shes that have a nn-marring sle. 5. Each team is required t wear shirts f ne distinguishable clr. Any team nt dressed in like-clred shirts may wear the clred jerseys prvided by Intramural Sprts. Each galie shuld wear a shirt that cntrasts in clr t that f the ther players. 6. Shin guards are recmmended during play fr persnal safety 7. Players may wear sft, pliable pads r braces n the leg, knee, and/r ankle. Braces made f any hard material must be cvered with at least ne-half inch f padding fr safety reasns. 8. If eyeglasses are wrn, they must be unbreakable. Each player is respnsible fr the safety f his/her wn eyeglasses. 9. Jewelry: N jewelry r any ther item deemed dangerus by the Intramural Staff may be wrn. Any player wearing expsed permanent jewelry (i.e. bdy piercings) will nt be permitted t play. 10. Headwear: Players may wear a knit r stcking cap (n caps with bills) during play. Bandannas which are tied with a knt are nt permitted. 11. The Ball: The ball shall be: Game Frmat spherical made f leather r anther suitable material (nt made f felt r felt like material) f a circumference f nt less than 62 cm and nt mre than 64 cm 1. All games will cnsist f tw 12-minute halves with a running clck, where the fficial has the ptin t stp the clck at his discretin. 2. Game time is frfeit time. A team must have a minimum number f players t start a game. If there is an insufficient number f players, the ppsing captain has the ptin f taking the win r waiting fr the minimum number f players t shw. In the event that he/she decides t wait, that decisin is irreversible and game clcks will be adjusted accrdingly. If a team chses t wait, it must wait fr a minimum f 20 minutes. If a team des nt have the minimum number f players at that time, the match will be declared ver. The minimum number f players is fur (4). 3. Each team shall be permitted ne (1) timeut per half. Timeuts will nly be granted during a dead ball r befre the referee s whistle fr play. Timeuts d nt carry ver

frm the first r secnd half r frm vertime perids. A timeut shall nt exceed ne (1) minute. 4. Mercy Rule: A game shall be called if a team is ahead by five (5) gals with five minutes r less remaining in the game r by ten (10) gals with seven minutes r less in the game. 5. In the event that a scre remains tied at the end f regulatin play, will remain a tie in regular seasn games. In turnament games, a 5 minute sudden death extra perid will be played fllwed by a shtut if still tied. The shtut will prceed as fllws: A. The referee shall chse the gal at which all f the penalty kicks shall be taken. B. Each captain will select the five players n the curt, including the galkeeper, t take the penalty kicks. C. The winner f a cin tss shall have the ptin f kicking first r secnd. D. Teams will alternate kickers. There is n fllw-up n the kick. E. Fllwing five kicks fr each team, the team scring n the greatest number f these kicks shall be declared the winner. F. If the scre remains tied after each team has had 5 penalty kicks, each team will select additinal players (frm the bench) t take kicks in a sudden death situatin. Each team will alternate kicks until ne-team scres and the ther team des nt scre, thus ending the game withut mre kicks being taken. G. N player may take an additinal kick until all thse players wh were listed n the scre sheet and present have kicked. H. Any eligible player may change places with the galkeeper. I. Substitutins: The number f flying substitutes made during a match is unlimited, except in the case f the galkeeper, wh can nly be replaced when the ball is nt in play. A player wh has been replaced may return t the curt as a substitute fr anther player. A flying substitutin is ne that is made when the ball is still in play, hwever, the player leaving the curt must d s befre the player replacing him/her enters the playing surface. J. A substitute must enter fr a player that has been cautined (received a yellw card). The cautined player may reenter the field f play at the next legal pprtunity. The Playing Curt 1. Bundaries: Ball is declared t be in the field f play up t the pint where it ges abve the white lines belw the windws surrunding the entire playing area f the MAC field r beynd the battering walls f the MAC. 2. Penalty Mark: All penalty kicks will be taken frm the free thrw line. Start f Play 1. A cin is tssed and the team that wins the tss shall decide which gal it will attack in the first half f the match. The ther team shall take the kick-ff t start the match. The team that wins the tss shall take the kick-ff t start the secnd half f the match. All players shall be in their wn half f the eld The ppnents f the team taking the kick-ff must be at least 3 m frm the ball until it is in play The ball shall be statinary n the centre mark The referee shall give a signal The ball shall be deemed in play frm the mment it is kicked and mves frward

The kicker may nt tuch the ball fr a secnd time befre it has been tuched by anther player 2. During the kickff, the kicker shall nt play the ball a secnd time until it has been tuched r played by anther player. Penalty: Indirect free kick at the spt f the ful. If this ffense is cmmitted by a player in his ppnent s penalty area,the indirect free kick shall be taken frm the 6-yard line at a pint nearest t the spt where the infringement ccurred. 3. After a gal is scred, the team scred against shall restart play by a kickff. 4. Fr any infringement f rules (2), (3), r (4), the kickff shall be retaken. 5. Between halves, teams will exchange gals t defend and the team wh received first half will kick ff secnd half. 6. After any temprary interruptins fr any reasn nt mentined elsewhere, and if, immediately befre the suspensin f the game the ball did nt leave the playing curt s bundaries, the referee will restart the game with a drp ball at the place the ball was when play was suspended. If the ball was in the penalty area, it shall be drpped n the 6 yard-line at the spt nearest t the psitin f the ball when the game was stpped. 7. The ball will be cnsidered in play nly at the mment it tuches the grund. If, hwever, it crsses ver the tuchline r gal lines after it was drpped by the referee but befre it was tuched by a player, the referee shall drp it again. N player can tuch the ball until it has hit the grund. If this prvisin f the rule is nt cmplied with, the referee shall drp it again. Scring 1. A gal is scred when the ball has cmpletely crssed the gal line marking that is a straight path between the gal psts. 2. A gal cannt be scred directly frm a kick in where the ball is being put back int play after exiting the playing area. 3. A gal cannt be scred directly frm any free kick that is a result f a legal playing infractin. Ball In and Out f Play 1. The ball is ut f play: A. When it makes cntact with the superstructure r any part f the side walls that are abve the white line n the wall that circles the playing area. Or when the ball is put int tuch (ut f play) by being legally sent int the spectatr/substitute bench area Fuls and Miscnduct 1. All free kicks are indirect and will be taken by the ppsing team frm the place where the infringement ccurred. Shuld a player f the defending team intentinally cmmit ne f the fllwing ffenses within his penalty area, he/she shall be penalized by a penalty kick, regardless f the psitin f the ball, as lng as it is in play. Offenses fr which a free kick may be awarded include the fllwing vilatins: A. Kicking r attempting t kick an ppnent B. Tripping an ppnent; i.e. thrwing r attempting t thrw him by use f the legs r by stping in frnt f r behind him

C. Playing dangerusly (kicks, strikes, attempts t kick r strike, jumps at an ppnent, charges in a vilent r dangerus manner) D. Hlding an ppnent E. Pushing an ppnent F. Charging an ppnent with the shulder G. Sliding in an attempt t play the ball, when it is being r attempted t be played by an ppnent (slide tackle) H. Handling the ball with the hand r arm, except fr the galkeeper in his/her penalty area I. Playing in a manner cnsidered by the referees t be dangerus (raises the feet t kick backwards r kicks with the heel and, withut premeditatin, hitting the ppnent clsest t the play, r attempts t take the ball ut f the hands f the ppsing galkeeper) J. Illegal bstructin (interfering with an ppnent s mvement withut the ball) K. Charging the galkeeper except when he has passed utside the penalty area L. The galkeeper tuches r cntrls the ball with his hands after it has been deliberately kicked t him by a teammate M. Fllwing a kick-in taken by a player n his wn team, the ball is directly passed t the galkeeper, wh tuches r cntrls it with his hands N. The galkeeper may take pssessin f the ball in his/her hands within the penalty area after making a save r by ther means fr a ttal f six secnds. If the galkeeper decides t place the ball n the flr at his r her feet, they are allwed t hld the ball as lng as they chse s lng as they d nt attempt t pick the pall back up with their hands after putting it int play by placing the ball back n the grund O. After putting the ball in play with the galkeepers hands, the ball is nt tuched r played by a player r des nt tuch the surface in the galkeeper s wn half f the curt (indirect kick t be taken frm any pint n the halfway line) 2. A player may be guilty f a (Blue Card) ffense fr: A. A specific ful as deemed apprpriate by the fficials. B. An accumulatin f persistent fuls as deemed apprpriate by the fficials. C. Delaying the restart f the game after a gal r ful. D. Unsprtsmanlike cnduct f a minimal degree. 3. A player shall be cautined with a Yellw Card if: A. During a flying substitutin, he enters the playing curt befre the player being substituted fr has entirely left it. B. A player r a substitute shall be cautined and shwn the yellw card if he cmmits any f the fllwing infringements: Unsprtsmanlike behavir Dissent by wrd r actin Persistent infringement f the Laws f the Game Delaying the restart f play Failure t respect the required distance when play is restarted with a crner kick, kick-in, free kick r gal clearance Entering r re-entering the pitch withut the referees permissin r infringement f the substitutin prcedure Deliberately leaving the pitch withut the referees permissin C. He/she is guilty f unsprtsmanlike cnduct. Fr any f these ffenses, the referee shall award an indirect free kick t the ppsing team t be taken frm the place

where the infringement ccurred, unless it happened in the penalty area, in which case it is handled the same as ther indirect kicks within the penalty area. 4. A player shall be ejected (Red Card) frm the playing curt, if, in the pinin f the referee, he: Serius ful play Vilent cnduct Spitting at an ppnent r any ther persn Denying the ppsing team a gal r an bvius gal scring pprtunity by deliberately handling the ball (with the exceptin f a galkeeper inside his wn penalty area) Denying an ppnent mving twards the player s gal an bvius gal scring pprtunity by cmmitting an ffence punishable by a free kick r a penalty kick Using ffensive, insulting r abusive language r gestures Receiving a secnd cautin in the same match If play is stpped by reasn f a player being ejected frm the playing curt fr any f the abve ffenses, the game shall be restarted with an indirect free kick. 5. If, in the pinin f the referee, a player wh is mving twards his ppnents gal with an bvius pprtunity t scre is intentinally impeded by a ppnent thrugh unlawful means, i.e. an ffense punishable by a free kick (r penalty kick), the ffending player shall be sent ff the curt fr serius ful play. 6. If, in the pinin f the referee, a player ther than the galkeeper within his wn penalty area denies his ppnents a gal r an bvius gal scring pprtunity by intentinally handling the ball, he shall be sent ff the curt fr serius ful play. 7. Once expelled, the player cncerned may nt re-enter the game. He may be replaced tw minutes after the expulsin, unless a gal has been scred befre the tw minutes have elapsed. In this case, the fllwing will apply:. If there are five players against fur and the team with the larger number scres a gal, the team with nly fur players may be cmpleted. A. If bth teams are playing with fur players and a gal is scred, bth teams shall be cmpleted. B. If there are five playing against three r fur against three, and the team with the greater number scres a gal, the team with three players may be increased by ne mre player nly. C. If bth teams are playing with three players and a gal is scred, bth teams may add ne mre player each. D. If the team scring a gal is the team with fewer players, the game shall cntinue withut changing the number f players. E. The player wh enters the game as a substitute fr the ne sent ff shall nly enter when he has received the cnsent f the referee and nly when the ball is ut f play. Free Kicks 1. Free kicks shall be classified as: A. Indirect - tw tuches in which a gal cannt be scred unless the ball has been played r tuched by a player ther than the kicker befre passing thrugh the gal. All free kicks may be kicked in any directin frm the pint where the infractin ccurred, except the penalty kick, which must be taken frm the penalty spt and kicked frward.

2. When a player is taking a free kick, all ppsing players must be at least 5 yards frm the ball, until it is in play. The ball shall be deemed in play as sn as it is tuched. If a player f the ppsing team encraches within 5 yards f the ball befre the free kick is taken, the referee shall rder the free kick t be retaken. 3. The ball must be statinary n the curt fr the kick t be taken, and the kicker shall nt play the ball a secnd time until it has been tuched r played by anther player. 1. If the player taking the free kick, after having kicked the ball, plays the ball a secnd time befre it has been tuched r played by anther player, an indirect free kick shall be taken by a player f the ppsing team. 2. If the team taking the free kick takes mre than fur secnds t d s, the referee shall award an indirect free kick t the ppsing team. Penalty Kicks 1. A Penalty Kick is a free kick taken frm the penalty spt n the playing curt. At the mment f the kick, all the players, with the exceptin f the galkeeper and the player taking the kick, shuld be inside the playing curt, utside the penalty area, and at a distance f 5 yards frm the penalty spt. 2. The ppsing galkeeper shuld take his psitin (withut mving his feet) n the gal line and between the gal psts, and may nt mve his feet until the ball is kicked. 3. The player taking the kick must kick the ball frward; he shall nt play the ball a secnd time until it has been tuched r played by anther player. 4. The ball shall be deemed in play directly after it has been kicked. A gal may be scred directly. 5. Fr any infringement: A. By the defending team, the kick will be repeated, if the kick did nt result in a gal. B. By the attacking team, ther than by the player taking the kick, if a gal is scred it will be disallwed and the kick retaken. C. By the player taking the penalty kick after the ball is in play, a player f the ppsing team shall be awarded an indirect free kick frm the penalty mark.
