Update March 6 th, 2018 Coach, Welcome to the 3 rd Annual Red Mountain Rampage Track Invitational Please review this year s packet regarding the Red Mountain Rampage hosted by Red Mountain High School on March 23 rd, 2018. The event will be capped at 20 teams. Entries are due Monday, March 19, 2018 at 11:59 PM. There will be no changes allowed. This meet will be scored by standard NFHS scoring rules (10 8 6 5 4 3 2 1). Only the Elite events will be scored. The Athlete Pass gate will be located on Red Mountain Way on the west side of the stadium. No outside food will be allowed into the stadium. We are not talking about the granola bar that an athlete might have, but the 15 boxes of pizzas that teams bring in. The Red Mountain Track Booster Club, which puts several thousands of dollars into the meet, makes their money back from advertisement sales and concessions. There will be numerous vendors available in the stadium. ENTRY LIMITS. Each team is guaranteed 5 athletes per event, and 1 relay team Entries per event will be closely monitored. All entries for the Elite session must be times from this year (FAT preferred). Any entries without a time will result in NT for that athlete and an automatic placement in the Seeded session. Please put all entries into the Elite session on athletic.net! The timer will then separate the Elite session from Seeded session from all entries. Adult admission will be $5.00, while students and seniors (55+) will be $2.00. All current military members and veterans are free of charge. The Elite Long and Triple Jump events will be contested in the Seeded session so that Elite Jumpers participating in other Elite events will not be required to do multiple events at the same time. We will throw javelin this year. The Seeded Long Jump will begin on the north runway to maximize facility availability.

EVENTS WILL BE HELD ON THE CAMPUS OF RED MOUNTAIN HIGH SCHOOL. MEET DIRECTOR Brent Krieg email: bckrieg@mpsaz.org RMHS Head Girls Coach Red Mountain High School 7301 E Brown Rd Mesa, AZ 85207 School: (480) 308 5616 FAX (480)742 8008 FORMAT: There will be TWO sessions. The morning session will be referred to as the Seeded session and will consist of roughly 32 athletes per event. Heat/Flight event winners will receive awards. The Thursday afternoon/early evening session will be referred to as the Elite session and will be limited to 16 athletes (athlete count does not include relays). It is possible for an athlete to compete in the Seeded session in one event, and compete in the Elite session in a different event. Each event will be seeded so that the top 12 athletes in each individual lane race will automatically qualify for the Elite session. The top four results from the Seeded session will qualify for the Elite session in laned races, throws, and horizontal jumps. In individual distance races, the top 24 athletes will qualify for the Elite session. All other athletes will compete in the Seeded session heats. Distance athletes who run in the Seeded session WILL NOT qualify for the Elite session. SEEDING The Seeded session will be seeded based on the number of heats (a maximum of 11 based on the total number of entries possible). The fastest number of athletes (eleven at most) that matches the number of heats will be seeded in the best lane of each of the heats so that they have the best opportunity to win their heat. The slowest of the heats will be run first all the way to the fastest heat. The Elite session will be seeded so that the fastest eight runners will be in the faster heat. The slower heat will run first and the faster heat will run second. The four athletes from the Seeded session will be seeded according to their morning times in comparison with the seeding times of the twelve who were automatically taken to finals. NUMBER OF ENTRIES PER SCHOOL Each school will be allowed five (5) entrees in each individual event. Each school will be allowed one (1) entry in each of the relays. Check time schedule to see number of relays contested per session. Note: we will attempt to post lane assignments on the various local web track and field sites. These will be preliminary and might not be the final draw. Official lane assignments and positions will be handed out at the coaches check in on Thursday. ENTRY DEADLINE All entries will be completed by the coach using athletic.net. Deadline will be Monday, March 19, 2018, by 11:59 PM. There will be no changes allowed to your entries after this date. ENTRY FEE An entry fee of $400.00 is requested for each school entering the Red Mountain Rampage Invitational. An entry fee of $250.00 is requested for those teams only entering one gender. Performances are considered from only one event. ADMISSION CHARGE Admission charge for the public will be $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students with a school ID or senior citizens. AIA cards will be the only passes accepted at the gate. All current military members and veterans are free of charge. FIRST AID A trainer will be on site. The site for the training table will be located at the northeast end of the field. The trainers are there for critical care injuries. Please tape your own athletes. LANE ASSIGNMENTS Lane assignments should be drawn and finished by Wednesday, March 21 st at 12:00 PM, by the Meet Director. You may obtain a copy of lane assignments at the coaches meeting when you arrive. Tentative lane assignments should be distributed by Wednesday afternoon via e mail. In the Elite Session we will run the race with open lanes. There are no substitutes. In the Seeded session, substitutes may run provided they are from the same school and will not violate NFHS rules on the number of events run. If that athlete qualifies for state, we will make the adjustments in the published results. Athletes may have other athletes check in with the Clerk of the Course if they are currently engaged in competition. However, we will not wait to start an event for missing athletes. OLYMPIC START In all Track events which require one or more laps, the box alley start will be used. The 200 meter dash will be run with a full turn. The 1600 Meter Relay will use the 3 turn stagger. LAPPED RUNNERS 3200 Any runner who is lapped could be required to move to the second lane. Discretion as to the withdrawal of a runner, lapped by the lead runner of the 3200, will be up to the Meet Director and Head Referee. QUALIFYING MEET The Red Mountain Rampage Invitational Seeded and Elite invitational will be a certified meet for all Arizona division state meets. In the event of a timing failure, we will continue the meet with hand times until the problem is resolved. REPORT CALL AND STAGING AREA Contestants will report to the Staging Area when the announcer gives the report call. The call will be given at least 15 minutes before each event. At this time contestants will be given their hip lane numbers, open lanes will be filled (only in the Seeded session) and instructions given by the Clerk of the Course. The starters will give no instructions. If a contestant fails to report at or by the last call they will be disqualified from that race. It is the coaches responsibility for having their athletes in the staging area at the proper times. The staging area is on the northwest side of the track (by 300m hurdles start). TEAM AREAS All team members, coaches and managers will stay in the stands or warm up areas. Only Officials will be allowed on the field. Hurdles will be provided for warm ups.
