Conceptual Design Stage Focus on overall street design concept and general location of key design elements No specific styles, fixtures or materials selected Rough cost estimates to provide a general sense of budget allocation to various design components
Community Priorities Key Themes From First Public Workshop Convert perpendicular parking to angle parking Consistent pedestrian improvements throughout the corridor Traffic management / traffic calming Branding corridor as a unique destination
Two Conceptual Design Options 4-Lane Option Sidewalk widening: only 1/2 block between Travis and Cole (5 approx.) Limited landscaping (1/2 block) 3-Lane Option Sidewalk widening: 2 blocks between Travis and McKinney (10 approx.) Continuous landscaping (two blocks) No street repaving/striping Angled on-street parking (converted from perpendicular parking) Mini public plazas (two) Decorative paving at intersections Repainted crosswalks plus 2 additional crosswalks Pedestrian lighting on south side Bike racks, benches, trash receptacles at key locations Street repaving/re-striping Angled on-street parking (converted from perpendicular parking) Mini public plazas (two) Decorative paving at intersections Repainted crosswalks plus 2 additional crosswalks Pedestrian lighting on south side Bike racks, benches, trash receptacles at key locations

3-Lane Option Additional Considerations Road diet option will require: Thoroughfare Plan amendment two public hearings with required property owner notification Signal relocation/replacement of at least two signals SE corners of Travis and McKinney intersections. Limited re-grading of street surface in on-street parking area on south side.
Decorative Pavement Example Note: This is an example only. No style, material or detailed design choices have been made.
Continental Crosswalk Example
Landscape Buffer Examples City will explore opportunities to reduce storm water run-off using rain gardens in landscaped areas. Note: This is an example only. No style, material or detailed design choices have been made.
Pedestrian Light Examples Note: This is an example only. No style, material or detailed design choices have been made.
Bike Racks & Trash Receptacles Examples Note: This is an example only. No style, material or detailed design choices have been made.
Mini Plaza Seating Examples Note: This is an example only. No style, material or detailed design choices have been made.
Gateway Marker Example Note: This is an example only. No style, material or detailed design choices have been made.
Pedestrian Way-finding Examples Note: This is an example only. No style, material or detailed design choices have been made.
On-Street Parking Both options include converting existing perpendicular parking to angled parking. Angled parking will greatly improve traffic flow. Results in a loss of 12 to 15 parking spaces depending on the angle
Proposed New Crosswalks Two New Crosswalks proposed At alley between Travis and Cole (near Starbucks ) At alley between Cole and McKinney Solar powered flashing yellow beacons to be installed for pedestrian safety
PID Involvement In both options, City will seek to partner with PID on maintenance of some design elements: Gateway markers Soft landscape Bike racks, benches, trash receptacles Pedestrian lighting 3-Lane option will depend upon capital contribution from PID
