Worthy President s Message Greetings My Brothers and Sisters, The backpack handout was a great success and helped a lot of families. I was very happy with the turnout we had. Thank you to all the members and volunteers who helped and Ted for working with A Precious Child to make it another successful year! We are still having our Zumba class every Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 am downstairs. Men and women are both invited to join. Cost is $5.00! For the month of September, we have several things happening! First is our State Campout at Eagle State Park at 11 Mile Reservoir. This is happening Labor Day weekend and a fun time is guaranteed to be had by all. Several of our Aerie/Auxiliary members are planning on being there, so come down and join us. There is a map with directions at the Aerie home. Football is back, and the Broncos are gearing up for another season. We will be having potlucks at halftime during the games. If you are unable to bring something, you can still join in the yumminess with a $5.00 donation. We will be having a Poker Night on September 15 th! Sign up is at 5:30 pm and the games start at 6:00 pm. Come out and try your hand! We will be having a Red/Green Chile Cook off on September 22 nd form 2-3 pm. See the attached flyer for details! Entry fee is $10.00. Just a reminder to all members! You must always have your membership card and ID on you when visiting the club. You will be asked for these by your bartenders! No Exceptions! Hello, Sisters and Brothers! Summer will be coming to a close this month, the kids are back in school, you may be going to the Eagle s campout at 11 Mile Reservoir over Labor Day weekend so what else are you going to do to celebrate September?? 9/1 Bacon Day. A perfect breakfast food for camping. Get the best jalapeno bacon at Wheat Ridge Poultry and Meats on 29th/Depew. 9/5: Be Late for Something Day. Try explaining that one to your boss and let me know how it goes. 9/5: The Auxiliary will start serving dinner again the first and third Wednesdays of the Month. We are always looking for new ideas/recipes to cook, and always welcome assistance from both the Auxiliary and Aerie. Remember when you signed up to be a member and said you would be willing to help out? It s time to step up and show us your stuff! Please call or email me the dates you are available. 9/9: Grandparents Day. If they are around, please call or see them, if not, share a memory of them with another family member. 9/10: Suicide Prevention Day. Please reach out to those who you think may need help. Check out https://iasp.info 9/13: National Peanut Day. Think of everything you can put these nuts on. Warning: do not participate if you have nut allergies! 9/16: National Guacamole Day. How perfect this day lands on a Sunday. Football + guacamole = great day! 9/19: Talk Like a Pirate Day. Q: How much did the pirate pay for his piercings? A: A buck-an-ear. 9/22: Red and green chili cook off. See flyer for details We have Zumba every Saturday morning downstairs from 9:30-10:30 a.m. All are welcome so bring family, friends, kids, and a water bottle and towel. $5.00 per person with half the proceeds going to the Heart Association. Please remember that if you have a guest come to the club more than three times, they are required to apply for membership or will no longer be welcome. Also, all members MUST have a valid Colorado ID and their Eagles membership card when in the club. You may be refused service if you do not comply. Rules and Regulations are posted in the Club. Working together, we accomplish many things!!! Chaplains Corner Sandy Herrera s husband, Ted had a seizure. He is home resting and getting better daily. We hope our brother gets feeling better soon. Mary Dewey s granddaughter had her wisdom teeth pulled. Hope she is enjoying lots of ice cream and jello! Cheryl Haskell will be having back surgery soon. Sending prayers and good thoughts for a speedy recovery. Annette Fickle s husband, Troy is still having nerve issues in his face. We hope they can find out what is causing it and he can get some relief soon. Virginia Chavez daughter and Elaine Mares sister, Debbie is in the hospital at Good Samaritan. We hope you are feeling better soon and can come home. You Don t Always Need a Plan. Sometimes You Just Need to Breathe, Trust, Let Go, and See What Happens. News from the Aerie Home Elaine Mares is still raising money for the Veterans Charity Fund. If you would like to honor a family member or friend who is serving or has served, stop by the club and fill out a slip with a $5.00 donation. We will be displaying flags in the early morning on Veterans Day! We are still having Zumba downstairs every Saturday from 9:30 10:30 am. The cost is $5.00. The class is for both men and women so come out and have some fun while getting FIT!!!! There will not be a class on Sept 1 as that is the holiday weekend, but we will resume on Sept. 8 th. The Aerie has some exciting news for all our members!!! Beginning in September, they will now be offering Happy Hour from 3-7 pm at the club and we will have Bucket of Beers for sale, $14.00 for imported and $12.00 for domestic. We will also be getting a popcorn machine and a pizza oven. The Trustees are working out the details and prices so keep an eye out for that! Poker Night is back!!! We will be having it on September 15 th. Sign up at 5:30 and we will start at 6:00. See Flyer for details! On September 22 nd, we will be having a Chili Cookoff! Entry fee is $10.00, and we will be giving out prizes for the winners. Judging will be from 2-3 pm and we will be selling bowls of chili for $4.00 from 2-4 pm. Some come out and cook us your best Red or Green Chili recipe! See attached flyer for entry form or you can stop by the club and fill one out.
