Dear Swimmers and Parents: Welcome to Life Time Swim Southeast (LTSE) and Life Time Fitness! We are looking forward to a fun and successful season. This packet will give you a better understanding of Life Time Swimming and help you get started as a member. Life Time Swim Southeast is a year round competitive USA Swimming team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to promote a life time of wellness through the sport of swimming. The best way to become familiar with the Life Time Swimming team is to visit our website. Here you will find links which allow you to learn everything there is to know about our team. You will also be able to download all of the information and forms necessary to complete your registration with our team. Please visit www.lifetimeswimteamse.com to learn more. Currently, the team has two sites, one in Vestavia Hills, Alabama and the other in Collierville, Tennessee. The team is composed of five practice groups ranging, Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Senior. The coaches at each site are responsible for assessing and placing each child into their perspective group. The monthly fees for membership with LT Swimming vary based on the swimmer s training group. In addition to membership fees, each swimmer is required to pay an annual membership fee of $60 to Southeast Swimming and USA-Swimming this is included in your Registration Fee. Monthly Swim Team Dues include your child s participation at practice and Life Time Intra-Squad Meets. Life Time Swim dues will be drafted from your bank account using Life Time s Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT). Your Monthly fees do not include participation fees for competitive USA swim meets. These USA meet fees may be taken out with your credit card or EFT with the completion of a Swim Meet Entries Form. Fees for these meets vary depending upon the level of the meet. Communication with the LT Swimming members will be done primarily through the Life Time Swim Team Unify Site. Each family will be registered with the Team Unify Site and have a password protected account. Certain areas of the site will be protected, but access to your account will allow you to sign-up for meets, check your swimmer s times and talk with your coaches! Once you have completed all the forms in this Registration Packet, please turn them in to your site s Aquatics Office. Thank you and Welcome to the Team! Fees & Other Charges for 2014-2015 The following outlines what you can expect to pay as a member of the Life Time Swim Team. Life Time Membership (varies): Because the Swim Team is a program of Life Time Fitness, each Swim Team member must also be a member of Life Time Fitness. The membership fee varies depending on whether you have a single or family membership and the ages of each member. Arrangements for becoming a Life Time member should be made through a member engagement advisor who can be reached by contacting the front desk at the Life Time nearest you. The membership allows full access to the club for those over the age of 12 and any adults on the membership. USA Swimming ($60): Since the Life Time Swim Team is a member of USA Swimming, all members of the team must be members of USA Swimming. This membership provides secondary health and accident insurance in the case of an injury during swim team practice and during swim meets. It also provides your swimmer with opportunities to participate in USA meets and clinics across the state and nation. Monthly Dues ($70-$155): The team dues will be drafted monthly from your account via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). These dues are dependent upon the group which your swimmer is placed in and will change as your swimmer moves from group to group. Swim Meets (varies): Fees are charged to enter any swim meet. Entry fees can vary depending on the meet. Fees for each meet can be based on a flat-rate per day or can be determined by the number of events the child is entering. There will be a $1.50 coaching fee added for each event that a swimmer participates in. This varies from meet to meet. Swimmers are billed for their entry fees in advance. A swimmer, who enters a meet and does not cancel the entry with their site coach before the check is sent to the host club, must pay for his/her entry whether or not he/she ultimately attends the meet. Questions: If you have further questions, please feel free to contact your child s coach via their email address on the Life Time Swim website or Head Coach Dan Rozick at drozick@lifetimefitness.com. For comments or concerns our coaches are best reached through email or telephone outside of practices.
Life Time Fitness Code of Conduct (Parents: Please read and talk about these rules with your swimmer) 1. Swimmers are expected to get to practice and swim meets on time. Not arriving on time to complete adequate warm up may be putting the swimmer at risk. Arriving on time shows respect for the coach and allows the swimmer to get the most out of their experience with Life Time Swim Southeast. Swimmers are expected to be ready to get in to the pool no less than 15 minutes before the start of the Team s specific warm-up time when attending any meets. 2. Athletes, and especially children who are athletes, respond best to positive encouragement. Athletes do their best when they are receiving positive encouragement from their coaches, parents, and other individuals close to them. Please keep this in mind and assist the coaches in keeping swimming positive and fun for the athletes. 3. Parents are not allowed to be on deck during practices or USA swim meets, unless otherwise specified by the Meet Host, as per USA-Swimming Rules and Regulations. Please refrain from coaching, timing, or otherwise participating in practice. A parent needing to communicate with their child during practice should do so through a coach. 4. Conference times with Coaches should be scheduled prior to or after practice. Please do not try and discuss important matters with the coaches during practice times as their main priority at the time is coaching the swimmers. Distracting the coaches during practice time could cause an unsafe environment for your swimmer. 5. Parents and swimmers are expected to be courteous: use proper language and tone of voice including no negative comments or actions during practices, meets, and team functions. The use of inappropriate or profane language in the facilities or at team functions will not be tolerated. Team members are asked to conduct themselves appropriately in the locker rooms. Vandalism or misbehavior in the locker rooms will be dealt with swiftly by temporary or permanent dismissal. 6. Swimmers: keep your feet and hands to yourself no splashing, dunking, horseplay, etc. Be respectful to coaches, fellow swimmers, equipment and facilities. 7. If a swimmer has to miss practice for an extended period of time, please notify the coach via email. 8. The coaches have final say regarding swim meets and training during practices. If there is a question or concern it is to be brought to the coach s attention before or after swim team practice or by email or phone. 9. Parents should be prepared to volunteer at a swimming event during each season. Life Time hosts various team parties, clinics, throughout the season and there are plenty of opportunities for parents to volunteer in different ways. Volunteer opportunities will be indicated on the website in the section where you sign your child up for events.
10. Because of the nature of our sport, there are certain times when breaks are given to swimmers, parents, and coaches that follow the natural flow of the season. One of these breaks occurs during the time of Winter Holidays (late December), another between the end of the Winter season and the beginning of the Spring season (typically early to late March), and lastly one between the end of the Summer season and the start of the Fall season (typically the beginning of August). We will take off 1 week for the Winter Holidays, 2 weeks for the Winter to Spring transition, and 2 weeks for the Summer to Fall transition. We will not prorate for the Winter Holidays or Winter to spring transition, however we will prorate for the Summer to Fall transition beginning this 2014-2015 season. Life Time Fitness Meet Policy The following rules pertain to all meets that Life Time Fitness attends or hosts. 1. Late registration will not be accepted. It is very stressful for parents and coaches to have to rush at the last minute to get entries turned in and it reflects poorly on the reputation of the Life Time Swim Team as it appears to hosting teams. If entry fees do not accompany entries, then they will not be accepted and your child will not swim in the meet. 2. All meet entries are final. Once the sign-up deadline for the meet has passed, all checks and entries turned in will be processed. If there is an emergency or a swimmer cannot attend a meet they have committed to, the meet fees and entries will still be submitted and processed by the meet host. If you let your site coach, or the head coach know before the deadline that your swimmer will not be able to attend the meet, meet entries will be voided and the swimmer will not be penalized for dropping out. 3. I understand that there will be $1.50 fee added per event that my child swims at a meet to help cover coaches fees and costs for attending meets. 4. I understand that the Winter Holidays and Winter to Spring transition carries up to 3 weeks of no workouts and that I will be billed normally for these times.
