Welcome to Empire Soccer Comp Coaches Meeting
What is Empire Soccer Club? We are part of Santa Rosa Youth Soccer League (which consists of Empire, SRS and United) We are the largest club in Santa Rosa, and probably Sonoma county. We have over 1000 Rec kids, and over 330 Comp players. We are the only club in Santa Rosa that has both Rec and Comp soccer players. We believe strongly in allowing kids to play multiple sports, and in being an affordable option. We believe in the strength of parent coached teams, but also know the value of professional coaching.

Tryouts May 21-24, June 2. All players need to be at the field 30 min in advance to sign up. Have players warmed up prior to start time. As per our club policy, play ups need to attend at least one tryout time that is in their natural age. This is simply to ensure both age coaches see all the players in case the older team dynamics change. No club gear at tryouts. Proper soccer gear only. First tryout should be focused on technical and small tactical. Second tryout should be focused on larger field tactical. Get all Spring League games scheduled and complete before May 21!

Age Matrix
Definition of a Play Up In general, we hope and encourage younger teams have few to no play ups. A play up will be approved in certain circumstances. Specifically, if a player: 1. shows unusually high level of skills and is clearly beyond the skill level of their natural age team 2. is strong enough to be a top player on the play up team. Going to their natural age tryout does not mean they wont be accepted in their current team. Parent needs to sign the Play Up request. Play Ups in the older ages is a natural occurrence in Club Soccer.
Team Meeting Introduce yourself and asst coach, players and parents. Define your expectations of your players and the parents Clarify club rules regarding playing time, parent meetings, sideline behavior, etc. Introduce Team Manager and have TM assign all team parent jobs (equipment, hotels, tournaments, etc). Review your team budget. Have some extra room in your budget for incidentals (turf rental, parties, etc), and ensure to include the following year Spring League. Pick your team name (and for new/young teams, remember that you may keep it for a very long time, so pick carefully!). Explain and require proper side line behavior from parents!

Club Philospophy With our Academy teams, player development is far more important than simply winning. Players will enjoy the game longer when they learn to play as a team, and working as a team is the long term goal of team sports. However, winning is a good byproduct of player development. As players age up, and playing at the proper level, winning becomes a more important end product of good training and hard work. However, we treat our club and teams as part of a community, and believe that good sportsmanship and strong relationships is an essential lesson.
