Recreational Outdoor Soccer Rules Youth and Adult 2016
Age: Team Size: Montgomery YMCA Indoor Recreational Rules of the Game All players are placed on teams based on their age as of August 1, 2015. The intent of limiting team size is to limit the number of players per team so that the coaches can give each player more individual attention during practices and more playing time during games. The goals and objectives of the YMCA Soccer program can be achieved by this limitation. Each team has been divided based on the number of registrants in the program and the schools they attend. Not all age groups are able to be divided by gender. The Montgomery YMCA reserves the right to modify or change the maximum of players on a team as needed. Practice: Equipment: No practice should last longer than 45 minutes and will take place no more than twice a week. No practices may be held on Sundays or at location that is not designated or approved by the Montgomery YMCA. 1) Each player is asked to bring a ball to practice. The Montgomery YMCA has a very limited number of balls available for coaches. If balls are borrowed from the Montgomery YMCA we ask that they be returned at the end of each session. U8 Size 3 Ball U9 U12 Size 4 Ball U13 & Up Size 5 Ball 2) Shinguards will be mandatory for all age groups at both practices and games. Players found to be playing or practicing without shinguards will be removed from the session until they are wearing the appropriate equipment. Shinguards should be age appropriate and cover the players entire shin.
3) Soccer specific cleats are the normal. Tennis shoes are allowed. Metal or Screw-in cleats are prohibited. Turf cleats are acceptable. 4) No player may participate in practice or a game if they are wearing a hard or rigid cast or splint that is not wrapped properly. A doctor s note with permission to play must also be on hand. 5) No jewelry is allowed during games. This includes rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces, etc. 6) The goalkeeper must wear a jersey that will distinguish him from the other players on the field. If you do not have a jersey that can be worn during a game, please see the YMCA Staff to borrow a pinnie. Participation: Every player is required to play a minimum of two quarters during a game. These do not have to be consecutive quarters. It is the coaches responsibility to keep up with each player s participation. All injuries must be reported to the YMCA Soccer Staff present immediately. We will ask all coaches to sign the necessary Incident Report to explain the injury immediately after the practice or game.
General: 1) All games will be played on fields assigned by the Montgomery YMCA. 2) Coaches must stay on the sideline between the top lines of the penalty areas and their half of the field. A coach may not cross the midfield. 3) All regular season games ending in a tie will remain a tie. 4) Each quarter will be started with a kickoff. Each team will alternate kick-offs with each quarter. 5) The minimum number of players to start a game is 2 less than the required number. 6) If a player receives a red card or a coach is ejected from a game the player/coach will need to leave the Montgomery YMCA Soccer Complex and will not be allowed to participate in the next game. YMCA Soccer Staff will evaluate whether the player or coach will return for the season. Adult: Division 3 rosters will be limited to 2 under 30 players. These players must be labeled on the submitted roster and must be beginners to play in the Divison 3. If a challenge is made by the opposing team about a player in question then an ID with birthdate must be produced. If the player in question is under 30 and not labeled as such on the roster, they will be removed from the playing field and a $25 fine will be assessed to the team. The team will be allowed to continue the match. The team will not be able to participate in any matches until the fine is paid. Female players are allowed to play in any division regardless of age. Beginners are defined as having technical skill and knowledge at a level suitable for recreational play. Referees are able to make a determination of skill level and remove a player. If the captain chooses to challenge the assessment of the referee then a YMCA employee will attend the following match and determine the skill level of the player. 7) The YMCA Soccer Staff has the authority to enter the field of play during a match if he/she feels it is necessary.
