IN FISH WE TRUST Entering his second season as head coach, Dan Fisher has the Pitt volleyball program heading in the right direction. With a combined record of 40-20 at Pitt thus far, Fisher s impact can already be felt as the team s 19 wins last season were the most since the program won 20 games in 2009. The Panthers also won four more conference games last season in their inaugural ACC debut (11-9), than they had in their final Big East Season (7-8). CAN YOU DIG IT? Senior Delaney Clesen vaulted in Pitt s record books from off the charts to second in career digs with 1,553. Megan McGrane has held the top spot in that category since 2005 with 2,424. THE ROAD AHEAD Pitt s scheduled conference opponents this season went a combined 263-167 overall in 2013. Three ACC teams were ranked in the AVCA Coaches Preseason Poll, and conference-newcomer Louisville was a perfect 18-0 in league play last season. ADVENTURES ABROAD Two Panthers played for their respective national teams this past summer. Delaney Clesen participated in the USA Girls Junior National Championships, and Maria Genitsaridi is a two-year member of the Greek National Team. Head coach Dan Fisher traveled to Pula, Croatia to coach the BIP/USA Development Team participating in the 2014 European Global Challenge. OLD FRIENDS... Pitt returns substantial experience including eight starters and 11 letterwinners. Returning players include 2014 All-ACC Preseason Team selectee Jessica Wynn, who tallied a team-best 410 kills. Rising senior and USA Collegiate National Team participant Delaney Clesen also returns, bringing a career total of 1,122 digs heading into her senior year....and FROSH FACES Three new Panthers have joined the team, each after decorated high school careers. Outside hitter Mariah Bell (Moorpark, Calif.), middle hitter Kelsey O Neill (Skokie, Ill.), and Pittsburgh-native Angela Seman compose this season s group of incoming freshmen. 2013 IN REVIEW Pitt capped off its first season in the ACC with a 19-14 record, including an 11-9 mark in ACC play. The Panthers ended their season on a six-match winning streak and finished ranked fifth in the conference standings after being picked to finish 13th in the preseason polls. 5
