CO2 CYLINER CO 2 fire extinguishing agent is stored in seamless, high-pressure cylinders at a pressure of 58kg/cm 2 at 20 C as a liquid, the latter of which are combined with cylinder valve assembly and flexible hoses or flexible tubes for a carbon dioxide fire suppression system. If more than one cylinder are required to cover the protected area, the cylinders are manifolded together to provide the quantity of agent required for the protected area. Each cylinder is equipped with a cylinder valve that is a pressure seat type where the valve is sealed against leakage by the pressure of CO 2 contained in its own cylinder. The valve body is usually of forged brass and consists of a pressure seat, a discharge outlet, a safety valve, and a filling inlet, and will be opened by an actuator valve or a need valve. The high-pressure CO 2 cylinders and safety devices are constructed and tested in accordance with NFPA 12 and Korea High Pressure Gas Safety Regulations. The nameplate shall be stamped on each cylinder. (Unit : mm) - 1 -

CYLINER VALVE The cylinder valve keeps the balance of CO 2 gas pressure between the cylinder and the cylinder valve. The CO 2 gas pressure & spring in the valve-side pushes the plunger to the cylinder valve to prevent the CO 2 gas discharge. When cross-zoned detectors or a manual release station activates, the pilot cylinder set shall be opened to supply its pilot gas pressure through a 6mm pilot line to the pressure actuator mounted on the cylinder valve. The CO 2 gas pressure in the valve side shall be vented through the opening of the seal plate and the plunger goes back to the pressure actuator sidewall, as the pressure balances. The cylinder valve is opened, which allows CO 2 gas to discharge. (Unit : mm) Model No. : FTV - 15 Airtight Test Pressure : 14.7 MPa Test Pressure : 24.5 MPa Safety Working Pressure : Approximately 17.7 ~ 24.5 MPa Weight Operation Method : 2.2 kg : By Pilot Gas Pressure or Needle Valve - 3 -
NEEDLE VALVE The need valve, which is also called a pilot valve, is to open the cylinder valve by the CO 2 gas pressure discharged from the CO 2 pilot cylinder set and discharge the CO 2 gas stored in the CO 2 cylinder out to the protected area. The actuator valve can be operated either automatically by a pilot CO2 gas pressure or manually by pushing down the manual lever after removing the safety pin. (Unit : mm) Model No. : FTN - 15 Working Pressure Material Operation Method : 1.8 MPa : Bass : By Pilot Gas Pressure or Lever - 4 -
FLEXIBLE HOSE CO 2 gas is routed from the CO 2 storage cylinders to the discharge piping via a flexible rubber covered hose (or tube) with wire-braided reinforcement. The flexible (discharge) hose is connected to the discharge outlet of the CO 2 cylinder valve and terminates at the system piping or discharge manifold. The flexible hose can be removed when a refilling or maintenance service is performed. (Unit : mm) Model No. : FTF - 450 Design Pressure Test Pressure : 5.9 MPa : 10 MPa Material : STS 304-5 -
SAFETY VALVE The safety valve, which is usually installed at the end of a selector valve header, is a device used to relieve high pressure build-up in a closed section of manifold piping or selector valve header. If pressure is trapped in the manifold or selector valve header and if there is an increase in temperature, causing the pressure to rise to a dangerous level, the pvc tape in the safety valve will rupture, allowing the excessive pressure to escape out of the safety valve. Meanwhile, low pressure build-up from a pilot cylinder set can be vented through a vent breather valve. Model No. : FTSV - 20 Set Pressure Operation Method : 6.1 ~ 8.0 MPa : By Pilot Gas Pressure - 6 -
SELECTOR VALVE Selector Valves are used to direct the flow of carbon dioxide into a single hazard of a multiple hazards system. A series of selector valves come equipped with a pressure actuator attached to the top of the valve. A 6mm pilot line is connected from a CO 2 pilot cylinder set to this actuator, which will supply the required CO 2 pressure to operate the selector valve. The selector valve can also be operated manually by the use of the hand lever attached to the pressure actuator located on top of the valve. (Unit : mm) - 7 -
SELECTOR VALVE Model No. : FTS 25 ~ 150 Operation Type Material Test Pressure : Pneumatic Operation : SSC13A (Body & Bonnet), C3771BE (Stem) : 16.2 MPa (Body at Hydro Pressure), 100 bar (Disc Seat by Air Pressure) - 8 -
ACTUATING DEVICE The pilot cylinder set consists of a CO 2 pilot cylinder, a solenoid valve, a pressure switch, pilot tubing, relief valve, and an enclosure. It is used to release CO 2 system cylinders and selector valves by means of CO 2 gas pressure discharged from it. This is accomplished by operating the needle-type solenoid valve which punctures the pilot cylinder, allowing the CO 2 gas discharged from the pilot cylinder to flow to the pressure actuator of the CO 2 system cylinders and selector valves. (Unit : mm) Model No. : FTAS - 10 Enclosure Contents Connection : Wall-Mounting, Indoor Type : CO 2 Pilot Cylinder 1.1 Liter, Solenoid Valve, 24VDC Pressure Switch, 24VDC, Relief Valve, Pilot Tubing, etc. : 6mm Copper Pilot Tube with Flared Fittings - 9 -
DISCHARGE NOZZLE Discharge nozzles are designed to direct the discharge of CO 2 gas, using the stored pressure from the CO 2 cylinder(s). Six(6) sizes of nozzles are available. The system design specifies the orifice sizes to be used for proper flow rates and distribution patterns. The nozzle selection depends on the hazard and location to be protected. Standard nozzles are constructed of Alluminum. The minimum nozzle pressure is 21kg/cm 2. The nozzles are factory-drilled in increments in accordance with the NFPA code. The CO2 discharge nozzles are available in sizes from 15 mm through 50mm. Model No. : FTH 15 ~ 50 Material Orifice : Aluminum : Calculated by Design Software - 10 -
CHECK VALVE Check Valves are installed at the copper tube line in cylinder valve systems to activate the proper number of cylinders required for the specific hazard areas. The check valves are available in sizes 6 mm. Model No. : FTCV 6 Material Test Pressure Weight : Brass : 17.2MPa : 0.15kg - 11 -
