With the heart of the winter amongst us, I would like to give you an update on the progress that my staff and I have made over the past few months. In December we started a number of early projects to prepare for the winter months such as cutting fescue, winterizing irrigation, applying the final plant protectant to the greens, tree removal work, topdressing greens, covering the driving range tee and repainting the golf course accessories such as tee markers, ballwashers and trashcans. On top of the yearly projects we have been working hard on a number of extra course improvements such as rebuilding and expanding the 17 th Tee Box, adding a fan on the 16 th green in the near future and resoding greens surrounds on Holes 9, 12, 13 and 18. Below is a little more detail on some of the projects. The Driving Range Tee was covered to help protect the Bermudagrass from any winter injury that could occur over the winter months while the grass is dormant. The tee box will remain covered until early spring to allow for the tee to recover faster.

The 17th Men s Tee box was rebuilt and doubled the amount of tee space. To rebuild the tee complex the existing tee was stripped of its existing sod as well as the removal of trees. The new tee box was then constructed with new irrigation and drainage added. New rough sod was laid along with tee mix with the new tee sod being added in early spring when the weather permits. The tee box is currently covered with tarps to prevent and washing erosion to the tee mix. The tee will remain closed until the tee box is complete. The project was completed by Mottin Golf Course Renovations who also constructed our new Putting Green, Driving Range Bunker and rebuilt the bunkers on 16 Green. Mottin Golf has been outstanding to work with throughout the entire process. The collars on Holes 9 and 18 were slightly expanded along with the rough being resoded around the 18 th green with T urf T ype T all Fescue. Holes 12 and 13 have been stripped with bentgrass sod being laid in spring when weather permits. Topdressing greens and tree removal and pruning started January 1 st. T ree removal on 14 tee, 16 fairway approach and green and 17 tee were the biggest priority to help growth of the golf course. T he greens have been topdressed heavily to help protect them from the we ather and any play during the winter months. A fan on the 16 th green will be a dde d in the spring to also help with green health on the 16 as well. If anyone has any questions about any of our current projects on the golf course or yearly projects please feel free to conta ct me at derrickh@bellewoodgolf.com. Thank you, Derrick Hudson

We are looking forward to another great year here at Bellewood and the golf operation is hoping to see everyone soon. Before the Season opens I wanted to remind everyone on a few policies. The Professional Staff will determine what the cart traffic pattern will be each day and notify all players before they start their round. Below you can read the details on the traffic patterns. Golf Carts Scatter: Golf Carts remain on the cart path around all tees and greens. When playing a hole golf carts may exit the cart path at the start of the fairway and must go directly to the fairway. Golf carts are not permitted in the rough except when leaving the path and going to the fairway and returning from the fairway to the cart path. The rough is the most susceptible to damage from the carts, so we want to minimize traffic on the rough. Carts are never permitted in the tall fescue grasses. On all Par 3 s all carts must remain on the cart paths at all times. Golf Carts Path Only: Golf Carts must remain on the cart paths at all times. Exceptions can be made for medical reasons but will depend on the course conditions and must be approved by the professional staff. If there is an exception for a medical reason a flag will be placed on the golf cart to signify that. Optional Bag Storage: $150 (Only a few spots left). If any member is interested in storing their clubs at Bellewood there are only a few spots left. Please contact the Golf Shop to reserve a bag spot.
