Fun Activity Ideas & Reminders for Your Club October Have a club photography workshop and take pictures of the Fall Leaves! Visit a local apple orchard or pumpkin farm! Have the club over for a hot dog roast and hayride!! Offer to rake leaves for someone in your community! Or make tie blankets for someone needing to stay warm this winter! Don t forget to complete your club s charter forms by October 30 th! Hand out club enrollment forms. Remind adult volunteers to re-enroll on 4-H Online ASAP! Hold a special installation ceremony for your new club officers! Remind everyone to attend the 4-H Awards Ceremony! November Honor your local veterans by making thank you cards or baking cookies for them! Host a Thanksgiving party! And teach the club how to make fresh cider! Have a club activity to practice Parliamentary Procedure! Have an experienced club member give tips on how to do a demonstration! Organize a new 4-H member night! Make sure your new officers have gone through an officer s training so they are ready to lead! Don t forget to attend the Fall Volunteer Training on October 28 th! Set the upcoming year s goals, events, demonstrations, educational activities/club activities and games with your club! December Make a big snowman together as a club! Serve hot chocolate afterwards! Go caroling at a local nursing home or in your community! Have a Christmas party at your next club meeting! Make beeswax candles or vanilla lip gloss! Borrow a Regional Kit for a hands-on learning activity at your club meeting! Encourage your club members to participate in the Project Bowl Invitational on January 28 th in Rochester! Have your youth sign up to do some demonstrations! Invite older youth to lead a mini-workshop for the younger youth!
Have a photography session at your next meeting! Have youth take pictures of letters they find in objects! Borrow the photo printer from the Extension Office to print off pictures for the youth to take home that day! February Make a Buddy Bear (a dressed up stuffed bear) for children in the hospital recovering from surgery! Plan a few Ice - breaker games to get the youth pumped up before or after your club meeting! OR Go outside and play Hockey or Broom Ball (with helmets, of course:)! Have youth start a Rube Goldberg Team! They ll compete at the County Fair and the best team will go to the State Fair! Invite someone to come and teach the youth how to arm knit a scarf! In light of President s Day, talk about Citizen Washington Focus or Leadership Washington Focus and encourage youth to go! Remind Beef Project youth to take their animals to the Beef Weigh-In! Remind all youth that animal ID s are due on February 15 th! Regional Project Bowl takes place in March. Did your youth get registered? March Bring jellybeans and fly kites at your next club meeting for a fun Spring activity! Encourage someone to demonstrate their Aerospace project and launch a rocket! Celebrate St. Patrick s Day by decorating everything in green and asking everyone to dress in green for the next club meeting! Have someone do a demonstration on how to start seeds indoors spring planting is right around the corner! Would your club like to do a Share The Fun skit this year? Watch a volunteer training on 4-H Online and learn something new! Encourage youth to attend the Regional Project Day this year! April Flowers will be coming up soon! Have a teaching lesson on how to paint flowers! Have a club science experiment contest! Invite your county PC to be the judge! Start planning and practicing for your club s Share The Fun skit this year! Encourage your older youth to be a Day Camp Counselor this year! Are youth signed up to attend the Food Review and Cake Decorating Contest? This is a fun event! LQA&E is in April, remind youth to register! Youth who need the training are sent a post card or letter. How is your club doing on achieving their goals for the year? Check off what s accomplished and see what s left to be done! Encourage youth to sign up for Regional Camp at Whitewater State Park! Early bird deadline is May 1 st! May May is Museum month! Take the youth on a tour to a local museum! Or show a video from the Smithsonian (found online)! May is also Mother s Day! Set aside time at your next meeting for everyone to make a card for their mothers! Participate in your local Memorial Day activities! OR Honor any graduating seniors that are in your club! Submit your club s Food Stand Request Form! May Day is May 1 st! Encourage everyone to make a bouquet with candy and 4-H info for their neighbors! Remind Sheep & Goat project members to attend the weigh-in! Enrollment Registrations and Animal ID s are due on May 15 th!! Make sure all your youth have signed up on 4-H Online!
Early bird deadline for Regional 4-H Camp is May 1 st! Are youth from your club going? June Yay for summer! Encourage youth to get outside by going biking on the Root River Trail! Have a picnic in the park afterwards! Take the group for a walk to try and find Dragonflies or Butterflies and teach them about these lovely insects! Help the group make a sundial that they can go outside and try! Plant some flowers for someone who can t plant their garden anymore! Did you get your Food Stand Schedule Request form in? Encourage youth to work on their records as they are working on their projects! Encourage the younger youth to sign up for Cloverbud Day Camp! Remind youth to make sure they get their fair registration (Fair Entry) in by July 15 th! July Have an Ag workshop and teach youth about types of meat or what meat inspectors do. Take a tour of all the club member s families and see what projects everyone has been working on! Is anyone going to the Fashion Review or Performing Arts Contest? Have them give a demonstration and spark more interest! July is a great month for Fishing! Have someone give a demonstration on safe fishing techniques! Did you get your club signed up for Play Day? Encourage youth to be working on their projects and attend any workshops that are planned! Fair registrations are due July 15 th! Consequences apply for missing this deadline! It s not too early to start thinking about Award Nominations! Lists and applications are online or at the Extension Office. August If there wasn t time for a tour in July, perhaps there is time in August! See what everyone is planning on taking to the fair! August is a great time for a water balloon fight! Bring watermelon and end your club meeting with a splash of water! If youth need some help to finalize details before the fair, offer a Q & A time. Take a picture of your entire club and put it in the historian book! Remind everyone to attend Play Day this year!! Invite everyone to attend the Dog show! It s Fair time!! Is everyone ready?! Remind youth that if going to the State Fair, SF forms must be completed by 6:00pm on Saturday at the Fair! Get some committed helpers to help in the Food Stand this year! September Use this month s meeting to think about what goals and activities you d like to do over the next year. Have youth share highlights from the County and State Fair! Do they have pictures? This is a good time to finish up that club scrap book and the Secretary/Treasurer books to submit for an Honor Award! The State SS&W Shoot, State Horse Show, and State Dog Show are in September! National 4-H Week is the first week of October, what would your club like to do in honor of this event? Records need to be handed in at September Club meetings or submitted to the Extension Office! Please submit award nominations to the Extension Office and encourage youth to apply for achievement awards!
