WHAT IS COPPELL ACADEMY? A competitive academy program for ages U7 to U10 (birth years 2009 to 2012) An opportunity for skilled recreational soccer players within CYSA to train with professional coaches from Challenger Sports right here in Coppell Formed in fall of 2013, now competing in our tenth season of academy soccer this spring Access to beautiful city of Coppell fields An affordable competitive option with some the lowest fees in DFW A program that augments CYSA s recreational league by providing additional competitive training and minimizing conflicts with recreational games
CYSA RECREATIONAL SOCCER & COPPELL ACADEMY Is the Coppell Academy a replacement for CYSA recreational soccer? All players are encouraged to play for their CYSA recreational team and enjoy both forms of youth soccer U7 & U8 (2011 & 2010 birth year) players are required to play CYSA rec soccer. Coppell Academy U9 & U10 (2009 & 2008) players have the option to play Coppell Academy only soccer. What days are practices for the Coppell Academy? U7, U8 & U9 teams will have one academy practice per week about 75% of teams practice Wednesday evenings U10 teams will have two academy practices per week typically Wednesday & Friday evenings
CYSA RECREATIONAL SOCCER & COPPELL ACADEMY What days are games for the Coppell Academy? Coppell Academy games take place on Sunday afternoons typically after 11am What days are practices & games for the CYSA recreational league? Recreational practices are set at the discretion of the recreational coach Games typically take place on Saturdays & CYSA no longer schedules Sunday games for U7-U10, thus no conflict with academy games on Sundays
WHAT SHOULD I CONSIDER FOR AN ACADEMY PROGRAM? Are the coaches licensed and experienced? What are the overall goals of the program? Are the coaches professional and do they enjoy what they are doing or just in it for the money? How many teams do the coaches have? Are they actually creating a stand alone team with an appropriate size roster or will they expect my child to play for multiple teams because of low roster size? Does the Academy have regular access to fields? Is the organization running the Academy non-profit? Do they offer additional skills training?

COPPELL ACADEMY OPEN PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS How many open practices does my child need to attend? -Attendance at a a MINIMUM of 2 open practices is required to be considered for the Coppell Academy if your player has never previously played for the academy before. -Current Academy players will be informed by their respective coach if they are requested to attend open practices How will teams be selected from the open practices? -Coppell Academy coaches will be running the 3 open practices & assessing players throughout. -From the assessment notes, Coppell Academy coaches will make final decisions on player selection for the fall season. How & when will I found out if my child has made a Coppell Academy team? -Parents will be informed via email approximately 1 week after the final open practice. Do I need to register for the Coppell Academy open practices? -YES this allows to keep in contact regarding any potential rainouts and follow up with final decisions etc.
COPPELL ACADEMY - FINANCIAL COMMITMENT Coppell Academy Fees Include: Coppell Academy Fees Exclude: Team fees Practice with professional coach Coaching fees League and referee fees Home Association, City and admin fees Funds for rental of indoor facilities as determined by the coach for practices cancelled due to weather Uniforms, any tournaments, travel costs, any individual team expenses, and any other miscellaneous items. Optional Winter Skills Program will also be offered
