GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG (STOCK COAT) BABY PUPPY BITCH CLASS Judge: Mr Bruce Knight Summary Baby Bitch Class: Firstly let me say thank you to everyone who entered under me at the 2015 GSDAWA State Breed Exhibition. Thanks also to the Stewards, Kerry in the ring and Andy on the gate and Vickie who did a great job typing the whole weekend. The Baby Bitch class, lower than one would hope for when looking onto next year s Juniors, had 7 entries with 6 exhibited. Other than the 3 rd and 4 th placegetters type was mixed, as you would expect from 5 Sires (3 imported 2 Australian) and 5 Dams, with last year s Siegerin presenting two from an imported male finishing 3 rd and 4 th. The 1 st place baby bitch was Sabaranburg Oria from the Silver Medal Dog Bluemax Salt and the previous State Siegerin Hinterhaus Daiquiri. She iis very sire typical, strong and well proportioned with good pigment and colour. Her slightly steep upper arm did nothing to suppress her willingness to work and she easily outworked those behind her. The 2 nd placing was Madrodish The Bitch Is Back out of the Ex Merit Dog Homer von Amasis/Davor Wicked Ways. She is a strong baby with correct angulations of both the fore and hindquarter. I feel that this baby will probably improve with a little more training. 3 rd place went to Iccara Bad News from the 2014 Siegerin Iccara Bellas Lullaby. I felt this lovely grey baby may have finished higher had she been a bit more focused. SUMMARIES - BABY, JUNIOR AND OPEN DOG CLASSES Mrs Honey Gross-Richardson First of all, please allow me to thank our State Club, the GSDA of WA, to extend to me again, the honour of judging the Baby Dog, Junior Dog, and Open Dog Classes. The SBE is a show that is very close to my heart, and I dare say the breeders of WA, share my sentiments. Many of our breeders have seen the breed s progress in this state throughout the early days to the present time, where our SBE has become, and still is, one of, if not THE major events of the calendar.

Through the dedication of these member breeders, and like-minded enthusiasts throughout our vast country, the German Shepherd Dog has, as a breed, seen steady and noteworthy improvement over the years, both through the realisation of dreams of bringing in top stud dogs and brood bitches from Germany, and the well thought out use of the new bloodlines broadening the gene pool and at the same time, through well made plans and wise use of complimentary bloodlines, consolidating the virtues found in our breeders kennels. It is heartening to see also in our membership the breeding contribution of our newer breeders, adhering to our guidelines and principles, embracing our Recommended Breeding Practices and already contributing to the maintaining of high standards and improvement of the German Shepherd Dog. Our chance to see our best breeding animals in the show and obedience rings, performing in top competition, and at the same time, through the Critique classes, view the broad spectrum of our breed, vastly contributing to the overall picture of the State of the Breed at this point in time, is another valuable feature of the SBE. She was the Puppy Bitch winner at the West Coast Challenge. Their Sire Pepe Zenteiche through E U2 de la Petite Laeticia, a Yukon Bastille son, brings us Hill Farbenspiel and on mother s side Quenn Löher Weg and Vegas du Haut Mansard. Pepe s mother, Alderhaus Queen Pixie Vegas AZ, was consistently shown for her Excellents. At last year s National, she was 14/58 Open Bitch. A Vegas v Dongmiran daughter, going through Hannibal Stieglerhof to Hill Farbenspiel, comes from the Orpheus Kräuterwiese line, and also carries Uno Urbecke. Pepe has 2 litter sisters entered in this show, Alderhaus Pixies Emily, 6 th place, and Barbie Doll, 9 th out of a field of 12 bitches exhibited, with half sister Seigen Jessica Jones gaining 4 th place. I am looking forward to seeing this young male progress and become a presence in the Intermediate Dog class. Again, as in my previous class, one cannot make too many definite statements on the state of the breed, however bearing in mind that here we had 3 Juniors from 3 diverse sire and bitch lines, I found the following: Overall Class virtues: All parents and 11/12 grandparents are Breed Surveyed. INTERMEDIATE BITCH Judge: Mrs Robyn Knuckey Class Summary Intermediate Bitch Firstly, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the GSDA of WA for the invitation to judge the Intermediate Classes for the 2015 SBE. I was greatly supported in the ring over the weekend by Kerrie Pearce, Vicki Knight and Margaret Ronald. My heartfelt thanks to these ladies for their help. The Intermediate bitch class had 7 entries, 6 presented initially, but 1 animal was withdrawn due to being lame, with the judge s permission. Leaving 5 to complete the class. With the 6 initially presented, the only sire with 2 presented in the class, was the Sieger Seigen Suries Alfie. Five of the six bitches initially presented are breed surveyed. Three bitches had no line breeding. Two bitches were line bred on Iwan von Lechtal 5-5 and 5-4, the other line breeding was on Spellbinda Kellys Pride 2-3 and LaShadas Osh Kosh 5-5. The final five bitches all had normal elbows, which is very pleasing and all were graded Very Good. The first two animals being a higher quality than the following three, but overall a very pleasing class. Congratulations to the owners and breeders of these young bitches. It is not definitive to draw the following virtues and faults as there were only six bitches presented for critiquing, so not a large number to draw conclusions from, with that said, this is the overall summary. The best virtues are the very good hindquarter angulation and firmness of hock joints, this is real virtue these are problems worldwide. Both of these young males have been breed surveyed and have nil line breeding. Both are very well bred with Excellent Merit mothers from the 2014 SBE. Both have very good eye colour, very good heads that are masculine, both have very good firmness of hocks The first dog, Joanchell Panto is correctly proportioned with very good length of limbs and correct length of neck. Stands without exaggeration, with an excellent topline. Praiseworthy with this dog is his very good croup, presenting a beautiful picture in both stance and movement. OPEN BITCH Judge: Mr Bruce Knight Class Summary Open Bitch 14 Entered 11 Exhibited. An excellent class to judge with some beautiful bitches presented. Again slightly mixed type coming from 9 sires, six of which were WA based, and 10 different dams. Pleasing is the improvement in elbow scores in the majority of the Bitches presented this year Gradings were 5 Ex. Merit and 6 Excellent. In 1st place was Friedental Bliss Fulicious the 2014 Silver Medal winning Bitch out of Rico von der Kleinen Birke/Friedental Colas Karisma who was from a previous State Sieger and Ex select Dog Orpheus Vd Krauterwiese who sadly passed away on the day of the show at 14 years of age. She had progeny exhibited in the show and produced the 5th Ex graded dog Seigen Bliss My Ass. In 2 nd place was the lovely Iccara Coco Pop out of Bruvic Ubercool and last years Siegerin Iccara Bellas Lullaby. Just nudged out of first place by a very exuberant and free-flowing bitch on the day. No progeny presented but very confident that this bitch will produce in the future due to her Excellent anatomical virtues and pedigree. In 3 rd place was last year s Siegerin Iccara Bellas Lullaby out of Vladimir Brutus/Iccara Sweet Alabama. I believe this year s exhibits were slightly better than last year where this bitch was easily the winner. Beaten by her beautiful daughter in to third spot.
