Cromer Road Primary School Friday 14 th July 2017 Issue: 38 Dear Parents and Carers What a fantastic week in school! I must start with our amazing production of the Wizard of Oz by our Y6 children. The quality of the show was first class. All the children rose to the challenge of doing their very best, with slick scenery changes from our back stage team to brilliant acting, singing and dancing to move the story along. The confidence of our children was a delight to behold! Thank you to Miss Zanre, Mr Brecknell and Mrs Goldman for preparing the children so well and to all the other staff who contributed to making the performance such a success. We have held both KS1 and KS2 Sports mornings this week. We were lucky that the weather was not so hot, allowing all the children to have a great morning of participation, including starting with the cheerleading routines, some competitive races and the sports trophy being awarded. Congratulations to the KS1 White team and the KS2 Blue team for outstanding effort! Thank you to Mr Shillito and Mr Holley for great organisation and running of the mornings and to all the staff for helping out. Many thanks to those parents who were able to join us and support the children each day. On Wednesday morning we ran some in-house Bike Ability training for our Y6 children, led by Mr Sullivan. The children enjoyed their session and learnt more about improving their bike handling skills and safe riding. Thanks to Mr Sullivan. Also on Wednesday, some children in Y4 represented Cromer Road in a Dodgeball tournament. They had a great time and enjoyed some losses and some wins. Well done. Yesterday, Red class went out to visit Freightliners City Farm and had a fantastic time. Meanwhile, back in school we had our final music concert of the year, with the exception of the Ukulele concert being held later today. The children sang and performed beautifully again, demonstrating the high level of performance standard that we enjoy at Cromer Road. Mrs Goldman has shown terrific work again in organising and rehearsing the children. Thank you. Congratulations to Tiana (4H) for passing her Grade 3 piano exam; Inga (6B) for distinction in her Grade 4 piano exam; Oscar (5HT) for distinction in Grade 2 drumming exam; Mia (2R) for distinction in her Tap Dance exam; Mai (3B) for distinction in both Grade 2 Modern Theatre Dance and in Imperial Classical Ballet; and Ted (3C) for receiving a trophy as runner-up DIARY DATES in the U8s Tennis Singles competition! Brilliant! Today the Y6 children are enjoying their fun day out to Stanborough Park. They are taking part in water based and land based activities which should be full-on fun and a well-deserved reward for all their efforts during the year. Staffing update: Congratulations to Mrs Heyns, who is expecting her second baby later this year! Next week we will be saying goodbye to Miss Curl, Red Class Teacher who has been with us since January, Mr Anderson in 3B and Mrs Cox Deputy Head, who is retiring. Mrs Cox s last day will be Thursday 20 th July. Finally, a reminder to Y3, Y4 and Y5 parents that the children will be attending the World Para Athletics Championship next Tuesday. Have a lovely weekend. Yours sincerely, Jude Stone Headteacher
