The restaurant will be closed from July 30 th through August 6 th and the Golf Course will be closed from July 30 th through August 13 th. We are planning to accomplish several projects during this time. First, we will be starting the long-awaited replacement of pavers around the clubhouse. We will block the various areas off as the Paver company is working and access will be provided to all rooms possibly through sides entrances. Please look for entrance access signage that will be provided and marked by our Facilities Department. We will begin with the Ballroom area pavers working to the entrance to the restaurant, so that this area is completed during the week of the restaurant closure. We will then continue around the clubhouse, moving our way to the Pro Shop which will be finished last. We expect this project to run just over two weeks and will keep you updated during this process. During the closure, we will also begin work on the Corona Del Sire Bridge. This is the Bridge between the Pro Shop and Corona Del Sire. It will be necessary to close the bridge for a two-week period to make structural repairs. Please note this will be temporary and we apologize for the inconvenience. In next week s newsletter, we will outline a complete listing of the work being done on the golf course. We have already begun to remove the sand dams around the greens and are excited for the all the accomplishments Tim, Kevin and their staff have instore for us during the closure. They have put together quite the punch list and are hard at work already making a difference to our esteemed course. Recently, I received the following update from Lotus Architecture who is working on the Fitness Center. The soil boring report has come back the work required is normal, everyday foundation work with nothing special required. Lotus Architecture will be setting the elevation grade for the building slab in concert with Maastricht Engineering for proper drainage of the site. As far as the overall schedule, the Board and Architect met on June 26th to review and receive approval of the finish selections. At that time, the Architect indicated that they would need 2-3 weeks to finish up the permit drawings. They are very close to being finished. We are hoping to bid the project during the month of August. Maastricht Engineering should be submitting to SFWMD and Lee County in the next 10-14 days. Once they submit, then the Architect can submit for the building permit. We are hoping to have permits in place near the end of September. By that time, the Board should have received and evaluated bids and selected a General Contractor. This would yield a proposed construction start the end of September-mid October. As a reminder, there is no parking under the Portico outside of the Lobby /Fitness area for any reason. This includes golf carts. It must be kept free for emergency vehicle access at all times. Also. It has been brought to my attention that a reminder of the rule regarding pets needs to be reiterated. Therefore, as stated in the HGRD policies, procedures and rules, the following applies; No pets are allowed in any HGRD buildings or on any recreation facilities, including covered outside areas and including but not limited to the enclosed or areas, such as pool and deck; tennis, bocce and pickleball courts; golf course and practice facilities. Service animals and animals that are part of educational programs and accompanied by handlers, subject to the approval of the General Manager are the exception. When on other outside HGRD property, pets shall be confined on a leash held by a responsible person. Persons walking pets shall be responsible for removing all solid pet waste and properly disposing of it. Please feel free to call me with any questions. I look forward to seeing you around the Glen.
