Sports Information Guide 1. Competition Date The Football competition for Asia Pacific Masters Games 2018 (APMG2018) offers Competitive and Recreational division, for men and Competitive division for women. The Football competition schedule is as follows: 7/9 Fri 8/9 Sat 9/9 Sun 10/9 Mon 11/9 Tue 12/9 Wed 13/9 Thu 14/9 Fri 1800 15/9 Sat The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for the evening of Saturday 8 September 2018 with the Closing Ceremony on the evening of Saturday 15 September 2018. All dates and times are subject to change, pending final entries received. A detailed schedule for each age category and division will be developed throughout 2017 and early 2018 based on final entries received. 2. Competition Format The event, division and age categories for Football at APMG2018 is as follows: Sport Division Age Categories Football 11 a-side Competitive Men's: 30+, 40+, 50+, 55+ Women's: 30+, 40+, 50+, 55+ Recreational Men's: 30+, 40+, 50+, 55+ Women's: 30+, 40+, 50+, 55+ For each team to be confirmed, a minimum of 15 players need to be registered with maximum 18 players per team (11 on the field and up to 7 rolling interchanging players) The age of the youngest registered team member determines which age category the team will compete in and for the Games, your age is determined as at 31 December 2018. Each player can only enter to compete in one team. 1
Registration for Football will be closed on reaching full capacity in the competition. A registered team must have a minimum of 15 players before the games registration closes to secure a spot in the competition. 3. More information on the process for booking venues for training will be provided closer to Games time. 4. Competition Details 4.1. Competition Rules The APMG2018 Football Competition will be conducted in line with the competition rules of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) or as otherwise specified in this document. 4.2. Hours of Competition It is anticipated that competition will start at 0800 hrs and continue to approximate hrs at the mentioned venues. 4.3. Format for Play The following format for play has been identified for the APMG2018 Football competition: 2
There will be a round robin tournament with finals and playoff matches to determine final placing. Where sufficient entries are received, teams will be split into pools for preliminary rounds. Based on proposed competition format, each team can expect to play 4 matches and the top 2 teams in each pool will qualify for the knock out stage (round of 16 / quarter-finals / semi-finals and finals). Final draw format will be determined once number of teams are confirmed. In order to produce a viable draw some age categories (to the nearest) will be combined at the discretion of APMG2018 Football Competition Organising Committee. Competitive - Teams that have three or more senior players with international, national or state representative open experience. Teams without international, national and state representatives are still encouraged to enter into the Competitive Grade, but should expect matches of a very competitive nature. Recreational - Open to everyone, including teams/individuals that participate or have participated, at a local competition level. 4.4. Timing rules All pool matches, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final matches will consist 30-minute halves with a 5-minute break at half-time. All matches requiring a winner (quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals) will proceed directly to kicks from the penalty spot (5 kicks). 4.5. Start List Each team is permitted to name a maximum of 18 players (11 selected players and up to 7 rolling substitutes) on the official Start List for each match. 4.6. Match Officials All match officials will be appointed by APMG2018 Football Competition Organising Committee. 4.7. Technical Delegate The International Football Federation (FIFA) will endorse Technical Delegate NADARAJAN A/L CHELLAMUTHU (MAS) for the APMG2018 Football Competition. The Technical Delegate will oversee the implementation of all football competition rules and requirements at the Games. 3
4.8. Football Technical Meeting One representative from each team is required to attend the Football Technical Meeting prior to the commencement of the event. Further information will be confirmed closer to the start of the competition. 4.9. Registration and Medals Where there are insufficient entries in an age category, the categories may be combined in order to conduct a viable competition. The awarding of medals will not be affected, that is, teams will still be awarded medals in the age category in which they originally entered. The medals presentation ceremony will be held on the same day after the completion of an event. Each participant in APMG2018 can register up to a maximum of 3 events. 5. Equipment FIFA approved footballs will be provided for competition. Teams are advised to bring their own balls for warm up and training. Teams are advised to bring their own water bottles and strapping tape. 6. Sports Attire All teams are required to wear appropriate attires. All athletes on the same team must wear team attire of the same colour that have clearly visible numbers on the back, with numbers not to be duplicated (this includes jerseys, shorts and socks) All teams must have 2 sets of playing attire of different and contrasting colours for its home and away matches. All the first named as it appears on the official tournament draw will be deemed the home team and therefore shall wear its nominated home attire. It is responsibility of the visiting ( away ) team to change into their attire should there be a clash in colours in any match. 4
7. Accommodation The APMG 2018 organisers recommend the following selected hotels for football participants based on location and accessibility to the competition venue: - Bayview Hotel Georgetown - Eastin Hotel Penang - Vistana Penang - Equatorial Hotel Penang However, participants are free to select own accommodation according to own preference.
