Welcome to the Gatton Swimming Club Club Nights: Club nights are held at the Gatton Shire War Memorial Swimming Pool on Monday evenings commencing at 6.00 pm. Sharp. Pool opens to Club members at 5:30 p.m. Nominations. Nominations for a club night swim close at 5.50pm. each Monday evening. Note: No late nominations will be accepted. Nominations by telephone cannot be accepted under any circumstance. The withdrawal of a nomination will however be accepted by telephone to the Pool office or in person at the Clubroom until 5.45pm. No swimmer shall be eligible to nominate for more than four (4) swims on each Club points night. It is recommended that members nominate each Monday night for the following weeks events or to leave their nominations at the Pool office during the week. Cancellation of a Club night: The decision to cancel or delay the start of a Club night, owing to adverse weather conditions, will be made by the Club Referee and/or the members of the Club's Executive present on the night. It is unlikely that this decision would be made prior to 5.45pm on the night concerned, so please do not telephone the Pool prior to this time. A Club night may be abandoned during the course of the night s programme should the Referee feel that there are conditions that could endanger the safety of swimmers, officials or spectators or that the swimmers could be disadvantaged in some way. No points will be awarded to any swimmer who has completed events prior to the abandonment of the Club swim. If a Championship event was scheduled this event will be rescheduled. Responsibilities: Children UNDER THE AGE OF 12 YEARS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT unless there is another adult present who is prepared to be responsible for the conduct of the child whilst inside the Pool grounds. PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN CHILDREN AND SHOULD ENSURE THAT THE CLUB AND POOL RULES ARE ADHERED TO AT ALL TIMES. Swimmers must report immediately when their event is called. No race will be delayed for a swimmer who has failed to report. At the Referee's whistle, ALL present are asked to be silent at the start until the competitors are in the water. In fairness to all competitors events can not be started until there is silence. The area around the timekeepers must be clear of swimmers at all times. Age verification: The Club is responsible for ensuring that all members are registered and that they swim in their correct age groups. A copy of each swimming member s Birth Certificate must accompany the Application for Membership at the time of becoming a financial member of the Club. 1

Financial Membership: So that the Club may conform with insurance regulations, swimming members must be financial members of the Club prior to their third club night swim or they cannot be permitted to continue to swim on Club nights. No points will be allocated to non-financial competitors. Pool safety: Diving at the shallow end of the Pool is not permitted (except during supervised Club and inter Club relay events) Diving at depths over 1.8m is permitted. Shallow dives only should be used at all times. No one is permitted to enter the water prior to the commencement of the nights swimming programme. When appropriate, time will be allowed for warm-up. However anyone who does not use this time correctly will be told to leave the water immediately. Should a swimmer find himself/herself in difficulty in the water he/she should support himself/herself on the lane rope until help arrives. Raising the hand is the recognised sign of difficulty. Running is not permitted on any concrete areas. Pushing is dangerous and is not permitted anywhere inside the pool grounds. Please Note: - The small pools are out of bounds during Club Nights and must not be used by anyone. The dressing shed area like all 'wet areas' should be treated with extreme caution and no running or fooling around should occur in these areas. Swimmers should not wear watches, rings, hair clips, bangles, jewellery etc, in the pool. Those who wear studs and other body piercing jewellery should take suitable precautions. Health: Parents must ensure their own child's fitness to engage in Club activities. Anyone who is suffering from discharges from the eyes, ears or nose or a sore on any part of the body cannot be allowed in the pool. Any person with Band-Aids or sticking plaster covers should not enter the pool. All persons must shower before entering the water. Smoking is not permitted around the pool area during any Club activity. Other: The dressing sheds and pool grounds are to be left in a neat and tidy condition. All swimmers should be suitably dressed. Bathing caps are recommended. Swimming costumes and caps from other Clubs, teams etc. must not be worn at inter Club meets. It is preferred that all swimmers should wear Gatton Swimming Club Caps and T-Shirt to all carnivals. The Club also engages in Inter Club Swimming meets and members are chosen to take part. Parents are also encouraged to attend these meets to give encouragement and support to the swimmers taking part. Notices advising of these meets along with other swims of interest will be on the notice board at the pool and will be referred to on Club nights. The Club holds a meeting at the Clubhouse each month. All financial members are invited to attend and to put forward any business felt beneficial to the running of the Club. Meeting times and dates are announced on Club nights. 2
