VOLLEX LEAGUE RULES & DETAILS LEAGUE FORMAT LEAGUE STRUCTURE: The League is structured into a 3 Tiered System with Tier 1 & 3 consist of 6 teams divided into 2 playing pools of 3 teams. Tier 2 will consist of 5 teams. For the first 12 weeks of the season, Tier 1 & 3 teams will play against 2 teams in their respective pool for 3 sets to 21 points, starting at 0-0, capped at 21. For Tier 2 games, teams will play against 4 teams with each game being 1 set to 30 points, starting at 0-0 with a capped at 30. WEEKLY MOVEMENTS: Teams will move between Tiers based on the performance at the conclusion of the evening in accordance to the Weekly Tier Movements (please see below). Ranking is first determined by the number of sets won followed by overall points differentiate. If a tie remains, ranking will be determined by the head-to-head matchup of the involved teams. The weekly league schedule will be updated on www.vollexsports.com by Saturday noon of the same week. PLAYOFF: The first 12 weeks of the season will consist of tier placement matches to allow teams to reach and compete in similar skill level. The end performance of Week 12, games will determine the playoff divisions and seeding each team will be competing for playoff in Week 13 & 14. Playoff teams seeding is based on 2 Parts: 1) The Match Results at the end of Week 7 PLUS 2) The associated movements accompanying the results. Playoff is divided into 3 divisions: Gold, Silver and Bronze Flight. A complete playoff structure will be available by the end of Week 10.

LEAGUE RULES IMPORTANT: Games must start at SCHEDULED START TIME (7:20 PM & 8:10 PM) at all designated courts. Officiating team is responsible for calling for captains prior to the start of the match. A single round of Rock, Paper, Scissors between the captains will be sued to determine side and serve or serve receive. A minimum of 4 players must be present to start the match. The team will default the match if less than 4 players are available 10 minutes passed the start time. The school gymnasiums are accessible starting at 7:15 pm at Kennedy PS & 7:10 pm at Court 1 & 4 (single gyms) at Albert Campbell. NET SET UP & TAKE DOWN ASSIGNMENTS: The first reffing teams of the night kindly bring 2 poles to each of the playing court to assist with set ups. At the conclusion of the last match, the last 2 playing teams in each court are responsible for net-take down and clean up. Your help and cooperation are much appreciated ROSTER & PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY: Team rosters are due at the end of Week 2. Only players listed on the roster will be eligible for playoffs. Players listed on the roster must play a minimum of 8 weeks throughout the regular season to be eligible for the playoff. *SUBs who are not part of the original roster can replace an original player if they fulfill 3 playing weeks on any team in the league due to unexpected circumstances and MUST be approved by the league coordinator beforehand* Each week a Players Attendance form is to be filled out by the team captain to document players attendance along with the captains signatures for validation purposes. The forms are documented for playoff eligibility & will be used if a contestation should arise. SUBSITUTIONS: Teams are encouraged to recruit substitute(s) to replace regular player(s) due to injuries or absences. Sub(s) that replaces a regular player permanently must be approved by the league coordinator to assess the circumstances. In addition, team may ask players up to 2 maximum from another team in a different tier to substitute for their team, granted by the player/team s approval and permission. However, opposing team and/or the league coordinator reserve the right to decline the acquired player(s) request if he/she deems
inappropriate. TEAM ATTENDANCE/ PENALTY: If a team fails to be present and defaults 2 or more games for one week, there will be a penalty of $25 on the second occurrence. The same amount applies for each subsequent weeks thereon for any missed games. This penalty will be used to reimburse teams whose opponents fail to attend. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. REFEREES & OFFICIATING THE GAME: All games are refereed by team members in the league as outlined in the game schedule. Please see the Weekly Game Schedule for more details on your officiating assignments. Please ensure all games start ON TIME! This is to minimize any delays and to ensure all teams will play and finish all their scheduled set. We understand that all teams will use fair and consistent judgments as well as excellent sportsmanship to all members of the league. In an event where a reffing call is contested or the rise of game-related concerns/dispute, please kindly pause the match and bring it to the attention of the league coordinator. Thank You! NET RULES: Games are played using the old-school rules, primarily, any net touches or a full foot over the midline will constitute a violation; a point will be rewarded to the opposing team. We know that all teams will use their honest and fair judgement. Thank You! MAP of GYM LOCATIONS Tier 1 & 2 Games are played at Albert Campbell Collegiate Institute, located at 1550 Sandhurst Circle, Scarborough (North of Finch Avenue East, just west of McCowan Road). Please enter at the SWIMMING POOL entrance to the LEFT of the parking lot. The gyms are located straight ahead after you passed the 2 sets of double doors from the entrance. Kindly see the Gym Layout diagram below for court numbers.
Tier 3 @ Kennedy P.S.- Located at 20 Elmfield Crescent (South of Steeles, just west of Kennedy Road) Please enter by the side entrance adjacent to the parking lot. Doors will be opened starting at 7:10pm. The gyms can be found to the left passed the two sets of double doors.
WEEKLY TIER ROTATIONS GENTLE REMINDER: Officiating teams, please ensure at least 4 teammates are present to referee 2 courts (Up ref, scoring & 2 linesman), especially if your team is reffing the first or the last game. This will help ensure all games will be played in a timely manner and provide efficient run-through of the league. Electronic whistles will be available at every court.
