Minutes of Last Meeting The minutes of the March meeting had been circulated by email prior to the Committee Meeting and were agreed as a true record. 3. Chairman s Report Nothing to report 4. Secretary s Report (d) West Lancashire Girls Football League April meeting was cancelled. Next meeting is the AGM in June. North Valley & Burnley Unity Youth football League Nothing to report from March meeting. Notable Achievements U10s have completed the league and cup double for the second consecutive season. U16s lost a close game in the WLGFL Cup Final to Preston North end Blue, but beat Blackburn CSC with a last minute penalty to take the Lancashire FA County Cup. Meeting with Burnley Leisure JMH, DMC and MS met with Wes Kellow, the manager of the Prairie Sports Village on Wednesday 6 th April 2016 to discuss a number of issues. JMH to attend AGM 1. Winter training For the 2016/17 Season the arrangements will be as follows: Monday (6.00-7.30pm) U9s (Darren) / U11s (Mick) / U12s (Bryan) Wednesday (6.00-7.30pm): U13s (Martin B) / U14s (Danny) / U15s (TBC) Thursday (6.00-7.30pm): U16s (Gaz) / U18s (Simon) Thursday (7.30-9.00pm): SDS (Martin H) / First Team (Kris) Full pitch from 8.00pm Need to investigate need for indoor training for the younger JDS players. 2. Signage We have been told by Wes that the club can place a 3m x 1m (foamex) sign at the entrance to the Prairie Sports Village. Cost of a sign is typically 90.00 excluding artwork. CMC has a contact that may be able to work up a design. MS to advise Steve Bell that we will no longer be able to sub-let 1/3 of pitch to Readstone United on Thursday. JMH to discuss options with DS JMH to mock up a draft for discussion. 3. Goals MP / DS enquired whether there would be a possibility that the Prairie could acquire hockey/futsal nets to supplement the existing five-a-side nets? JMH to follow up with Wes Kellow 2
(e) Publicity JMH circulated a copy of the Burnley Magazine, which has a two page full-colour article on the club. JMH reported that for the last two weeks the Grassroots Supplement in Tuesday's Lancashire Telegraph had featured the U10s and U16s on its front cover, and included extensive articles on their cup triumphs. Chris Boden to include report in this week s Burnley Express. Deadlines for the local papers are: - Lancashire Telegraph (Steve Tinniswood) Monday morning (for Grassroots Supplement) - Burnley Express (Chris Boden) Tuesday afternoon 5. Treasurer s Report (d) Accounts Unfortunately Justine Lee (assistant treasurer) was not present with the exact figures, but CMC reported that there was roughly 17,000 in the club account, with 7,000 committed for payment to cover the cost of training and playing kits. Sponsorship Little progress due to work on Presentation Evening, but sponsorship pack almost complete. Will pick-up once Presentation Evening is over. CMC still working on details for draft Sponsorship Pack supplied by JMH. DS advised he may have a sponsor for the JDS/U9s. JMH advised that Justine Lee has been pursuing a potential club sponsor (i.e. for all the clubs teams), but that discussions had cooled in recent weeks. JMH advised Sweet dreams likely to continue as sponsor of the U11s (2016/17), but had not yet confirmed. Training Kit Plan to hold combined kit collection / player registration evening at the Prairie in July. Training kit (1 x shirt, 1 x sweat top, 1 x rain jacket 1 x shorts and 1x socks) will cost approximately 35.00 per player. Retail price of these items in the club shop will be almost 100.00. Meeting with Burnley FC CMC advised there had been no contact with the club since January regarding the proposed meeting, although the noises coming out of the club sound positive. JMH asked CMC to arrange a meeting with Neil Hart and Paul France for late May / early June. JMH reported that Matt Pounder a coach with Burnley FC in the Community is keen to do more with the ladies teams if at all possible. CMC to follow-up with potential team sponsors. CMC / JMH to identify suitable date(s) for combined kit collection and player registration evening CMC to arrange meeting with BFC 3
6. Open Age Committee had requested that the team send a representative to the meeting (see notes of March meeting), but unfortunately they were not represented. All agreed that Simon Waring bringing through the U16s into the WLGFL Youth league was a positive step in developing a continuum for player progress from the junior to the open age ranks. MS reported that Paul McGladdery a UEFA B qualified freelance coach who has previously worked in the USA and with Manchester City is currently at Burnley College andd keen to work with our club. His resume was circulated. agreed to invite Paul to discuss how he would like to work with the club, particularly the junior ranks. MS to invite Paul to attend one or more junior training sessions. 7. Presentation Evening CMC reported: Trophies due to be collected on Friday Special guest sorted DJ booked JMH almost completed programme. After a brief discussion it was estimated that 150 copies would needed (1 per player) plus spares for sponsors etc. A total of 165 to be printed at Jo Holt's school (cost price). Programmes to be sold for 1.00 on the evening by the U11s players. This would cover costs / make a small profit. 8. Any Other Business Open Age Secretary MS announced that he would be concentrating on the SDS from this point forward and that KJ would be taking over secretarial duties for the First Team. Funday No need for extensive fundraising this year. Dribbleathon to be given a miss as it's closely associated with the clubs former Treasurer. First Team players to offer coaching to the clubs junior players Small-sided games between U9svU10s, U11svU12s etc. Finale once again an 11-a-side game between first Team and Coaches. Hope to hold on 21st May, but 28th may be a better option. Summer Tournaments U11s and U13s going to St Annes U10s going to Batteyford will need to fund as this is over the two tournament limit JH to agree date with groundsman at Barden and publicise via social media, leaflet to managers etc. Teams to refund the Club Treasurer when attending more than two tournaments. 4
(d) (e) Managers and Coaches A wide ranging discussion was held about the need to identify and hire more coaches as the number of girls is steadily increasing. The appropriate mechanism for releasing any managers or coaches who were not performing up to expectations was also considered. Dates of Future Meetings JMH suggested meeting on the LAST Tuesday of each month may be easier for everyone to remember. Suggestion was agreed with recommendation that the dates of future meetings be published in the minutes. 9.
