CONDOLENCES We lost two members of the Youche family recently. Jay Lewis and Cynthia (Polakis) McLeod will be missed. Thoughts & prayers continue for their families. School is back in session, which means all our parents with young children are getting back into their weekly routines. Thank you to all our members who participated in our summer events. I hope the 2018 summer season was all that you hoped it would be. The pool is closing and with that the summer ends, but don t get sad...we re putting together great events for the fall! Read below to see what s happening at the Club. This August Youche was host to great events for our membership including our 90 th Anniversary Celebration. Our membership dined on a seafood boil and danced away to tunes played by The Relics. It was a fun and unique event for our membership. In August, we also held our first Back to School Luncheon on the first day of school for the students. Moms and Dads alike came out for our Build your Own Wrap or Salad Buffet and washed it down with a celebratory mimosa. The event had such great reviews that we will not only do it again next year but do more Adult Swim Days next summer. Fall does not mean that we are slowing down any. September holds plenty of activities for you and your families. September 9 th we will host our first night golf, so pull out your glow sticks and glow in the dark balls. We will feature food and drink specials in the Bar. Also coming up for golf our Men s and Ladies League Closing Banquets. Reservations are required for both events. Please check your emails for more information on these. On the social end of the calendar, September 22 nd marks the return of Trivia Night. The Adams have spent all summer assembling great questions for our membership. This is a very popular event, so reserve early to get the best seats. As always, your opinions, suggestions, and ideas are welcome and necessary for the Club to run the way the members expect. My door is always open to each and every one of you. See you at the Club! Aaron Sabers, PGA Head Golf Professional N E W S The kids are back at school and things have slowed down on the course, but we still have some of the best weather of the year to play in. Please take a moment to review the schedule of golf events below. Speaking of events, congratulations to Kassie Hanger (Ladies 9-Hole), Nancy Forsythe (Ladies 18-Hole) and Adam Vandercar on winning their respective club championships last month. Youche also defeated White Hawk in our annual match to bring back the cup to its proper home, thank you to the 16 members who represented us. We have upcoming matches scheduled against Curtis Creek (9/15) and Briar Ridge (10/20 & 10/21), if you are interested in playing, please see me in the Golf Shop. The Ladies Pro-Ams begin in September and all ladies with an established handicap are invited to play. All of the sign-ups are in the Ladies Locker Room with complete details. Friday Night Lights is here and that must mean its September. The summer unfortunately is coming to an end and fall will be here. With the fall season, I can t wait for the beautiful colors lining the fairways of Youche and the best rule in golf, The Leaf Rule. Before the fall season completely takes over, September offers some of the best golf weather of the season and we hope to see you out on the course. During the month you may encounter the staff and myself on the course performing aerification to the tees and fairways. Aerification is a necessary evil and this extensive process helps our playable turf areas in many ways. Aerification helps alleviate soil compaction, creates channels to allow excess water from soil to evaporate, and promotes root development. On a final note I would like to take a minute to remind the membership to please follow the 90 degree cart rule. This season has been extremely tough on the bent grass and when not followed turf damage occurs. The picture below is from our 6 th fairway: Please continue reading your emails from us for upcoming golf events at the club listed below: 9/1&2 Fall Member / Member 9:00 am Shotguns 9/3 Labor Day Course open at 7:00 am 9/7 St. Mary s Outing Course Closed until 2:00 pm 9/8 Night Golf #1 Shotgun at Dusk 9/9 Couples 18 Hole Scramble 1:00 pm Shotgun 9/13 Men s League Awards Dinner (Reservations Required) 9/14 Oak Partners Outing Course CLOSED until 1:30 pm 9/15 Curtis Creek Match at Curtis Creek 9/18 Ladies Pro-Am at YCC Course CLOSED until 1:30 pm 9/19 Tee It Froward Mixer 11:00 am Shotgun 9/22 Youche Cup 8:00 am Starting Times 9/24 Outside Outing Course CLOSED ALL DAY On the membership side, the Fall Membership Promotion is off and running with great success. Aaron Sabers, PGA Head Golf Professional asabers@youchecc.org COURSE CARE Motorized Carts To assist with presentation and maintenance of the golf course, players are encouraged wherever practicable to keep all motorized carts to the designated path or rough. Please use the 90 degree convention by driving onto the fairway once you have reached your ball. Carts should then move immediately back onto the nearest path or rough to travel to the next shot. Thank you, Mike Papineau Golf Course Superintendent GCSAA mpapineau@youchecc.org
