Parents complaining about lack of help on the ice Jon needing to have Initiation A meeting with new parents about how are association works Nicole said that maybe teams who have been knocked out of playoffs can come out and help on the ice George to come out on Monday s to help out Colleen Bradley Females Lady just moved to Kamloops excited about getting involved she was a pro in Europe Schedules getting complaints about getting the schedule the night before this person is getting defensive Jon/George say that a solution might be having a scheduling program Splendid City is a scheduling program and we might have found someone to volunteer to do scheduling What are we allowed to access? o Power skating is scheduled girls have not had any power skating Nina was to put a plan together for next year example 2 ice times per team; extra ice would be the cost of the team Do we use her to do extra power skating for us at a charge? Nothing was formalized want to have a contract in place If Rep wants her then they need to pay for her Shane Steptoe Bantam Rec Problems with ref and kids with high hits George sending out emails Few issues of the ice but have been dealt with NEW ITEMS: Body Checking Jon Pankuch Started off as vote to keep it in Educating coaches/kids/officials Season went fairly well Playoffs is when problems have come up Bantam big discrepancy in size Still believes body checking is part of the game
Princeton/Penticton considering to put in body checking Coaches and officials don t have enough education to manage it properly We as a board can t be at every game If we don t have it then problems go away Coaches not buying in to the program George said going out the the Pee Wee size and skill levels are a big discrepancy Lack of expertise coaching/officiating Some coaches bought in Open up something serious if an injury occurred We should be the same off the ice as all other associations but on the ice we should be competing hard The size difference is very noticeable 3 Kamloops teams did not do very well at tournaments as they are concentrating on hitting Kirt would like to see both body checking and non body checking teams Rob says players have total lack of respect for each other Shane says we will see more players with their heads down when there is non contact Ian says it is no fun for players and parents Antonio says we have enough teams to do contact and non contact. But when we make the jump it is easier Jon says it could become difficult- so having hitting clinics for all AP Players George says by going to non contact we reduce our own liability Have stiffer penalties for body checking Want it to be more enjoyable experience for the certain player Charmaine says in Midget house there is less injuries Jon wants to come to an agreement tonight We can still educate coaches/players about body checking Kevin says we have to go one way or the other We can t monitor all the time Intimidating refs to not make the call Ken says coaches need to follow KMHA philosophy Motion: I would like to put a motion to remove body checking from the Recreation Hockey Programs. 1 st Kirt Harrision
2 nd Leslie Moser-Fidanza Discussion: We need to continue to educate on body checking Kris says hockey is still a contact sport Teach to keep head/to take a hit/to hit George says all AP s must take body checking clinics Antonio says AP s go to practice on their AP team to get body checking Rob says contact is allowed but NO BODY CHECKING Leslie wants to know how many injuries due to illegal hits Vote: All in Favour 14 Opposed 1 Abstained 1 CARRIED Pee Wee Coaches Discipline Situation Antonio Fidanza Has there been anything done Jon nothing has been done His suspension not been completed If you want to send something to the discipline committee Nothing else would be done to the other coach Kris called the other coach and talked to him about his behaviour Coach/assistant coach/2 parents and KMHA have talked to them Atom House Tournament Antonio Fidanza Petra did a fantastic job Killer Bees came in 2 nd Refs are to be desirable Edmonton was very polite and we would love them to come back Todd Shyiack thank you for your quick response to save a life Someone should put this in the paper

Give each player our bylaws and make them read and sign Kirt to Chair Policy & Procedure Committee with Leslie and Sandy (needing one more person on Committee) Motion to adjourn: 1 st Ken Ward 2 nd Antonio Fidanza Meeting Adjourned at 10:17 p.m.
