The College put together an inspired first quarter to lead -14 after 10, but Elon responded with a 0- run, which the Cougars could never quite recover from. Breanna Bolden led all scorers with 3 points, adding nine boards, four assists and three steals. - The College wrapped up their non-conference slate with a thrilling 79-76 come-from-behind win against Charleston Southern. In her first game as a starter, Brianna Boyd led the Cougars with 0 points on 9 of 14 shooting, adding eight boards and a block in 6 minutes. Bolden had an exquisite outing as well, stuffing the stat sheet by lodging a 19-9-6 with two steals and a block. - Tanisha Brown has been a revelation for the Cougars in 016-17, and has five double-doubles in 1 games played. As a team, the Cougars have eight double-doubles on the year. - At 3.58 steals per game, Bolden ranks 9th in the nation in that category, as well as 14th in total steals (43). - The College notched the 65-6 road-win over App State despite incurring 31 team fouls, 41 FT attempts by ASU, and four Cougars fouling out. Bolden logged an 18-8, while Tanisha Brown secured a 17-10, her third double-double of the year. - The Cougars decimated the Winthrop Eagles on Nov 16, pulling out the 95-64 win in Winthrop Coliseum. Tanisha Brown picked up her second consecutive double-double (0-10) and added five steals, Bolden had points and six steals to move up to No. 0 on the CofC All-Time scoring list, and Darien Huff set career-highs in scoring (19 Pts), assists (5) and blocks (). It was the second-most FGM (38) and the fourth-most points (95) the Cougars have scored in their Division I Era. - Two-time CAA Defensive Player of the Year Breanna Bolden had an excellent start to the season in The College's 6-49 loss to Charlotte. Bolden pawed away a career-high eight steals, which propelled her to 43 in her career to break the CofC Division I Era career steals record. The senior also tacked on a team-high 16 points, as well as eight rebounds. To date, her steals record has blossomed to 78 career steals. - The Cougars come off a 015-16 campaign during which they went 11-0, more than doubling their win total from the previous season. - The Cougars made the 015/16 CAA Tournament as an 8 seed, and went on to defeat the UNCW Seahawks in the first round. That pitted them against the No. 1 seed James Madison Dukes, and the Cougars rose to the challenge. CofC hammered them inside, and led the game for nearly its full duration. But the Dukes seized the lead with 67 seconds left in the game and escaped with the 53-50 win. The Tribe have a 6- advantage in the series, though the teams split their games last season. In their last meeting, Bre Bolden had 17 points, five rebounds and a whopping seven steals, but it wasn't enough to stem the tide as the Tribe pulled away for the 66-40 win. Alexandra Masaquel recorded a 18-10 double-double, while Marlena Tremba scored a game-high 19 points. Scouting the Tribe - The Tribe went 15-15 overall and 6-1 in conference play last season. They went to the CAA Tournament as the 7th seed, but were upset in the opening round 71-65 by No. 10 seed Towson. - The Tribe posted a 10-1 record through the non-conference season, the best mark in the CAA. They dropped their season-opener to St. John's but have since then ripped off an 11 game-winning streak. They prevailed 60-49 in their conference-opener against Delaware. - Junior center Abby Rendle missed both games against the Cougars last season with a broken leg, but she's made her mark felt this year, leading the CAA in blocks with 4.3 per game while also averaging nine points and six rebounds. She made waves in the 8-7 win over ECU by securing a triple double (14 Pts, 11 Reb, 10 Blk), the second of her career. Marlena Tremba leads the Tribe in scoring at 14.6 PPG, Alexandra Masaquel leads the team in rebounding (7.0 RPG) and steals (9) while averaging 11.3 PPG, and Jenna Green leads the team in assists (4.0 APG). 1

Women's Hoops Halted by Tribe in 66-40 Defeat CHARLESTON, S.C. The College of Charleston women's basketball team (9-16; 4-10) went down early and never quite managed to recapture the momentum Sunday, as the William & Mary Tribe (14-1; 5-10 vs. CAA) were able to prevail 66-40. Bolden went berserk in the passing lanes to close out the first quarter, pawing away three steals and converting them for two layups in the span of just over 30 seconds. The junior would finish with a team-high 17 points and five rebounds, and matched a career-high seven steals on the afternoon. After the poor start to the game, the Cougars rallied to make a bit of a comeback in the second quarter, getting the game as close as 5-18 with two minutes to play in the half. But W&M's Ali Engelhardt scored four points in the closing minutes to push the lead to 9-19 at half, and the Cougars would never again mount a counter-offensive. Beyond Bolden's impressive steal figure, the one key area where the Cougars performed admirably was their ability to force their way to the free throw line, earning 0 attempts by forcing the Tribe into 15 fouls. However, W&M shot a commanding 5.9% from the field and won the rebounding battle 36-4. What's more, the College missed on all 13 of their three-point attempts, and had only four assists to William & Mary's 1. Individually, Alexandra Masaquel led the way for W&M with a 18-10 double-double. As a result of the game, the Cougars and Tribe swap places in the standings, with W&M rising to seventh and the College falling to eighth. The Cougars will follow up with a road trip next weekend, which will kick off with a Friday night showdown with the Northeastern Huskies (1-14; 7-8 vs. CAA). 3

Head Coach Since taking the helm of the College of Charleston women s basketball program on April, 4, 014, Candice M. Jackson has done a remarkable job at setting the program on a winning trajectory. Jackson inherits the mantle looking to build on the foundations for success set forth by former coaching greats at The College in former Tennessee Director of Women s Athletics Joan Cronan (1974-76), Nancy Wilson (two tenures from 1976-84 and 003-1), Scooter Barnette (1984-94), Kathy McCaskill-Rhein (1994-98), Melissa Slone (1998-003) and Natasha Adair (01-14). In 015-16, the native of Lansing, Mich. more than doubled her win total from year one, going 11-0 overall and 5-13 in conference action. She secured her first-ever CAA Tournament victory by way of a 71-6 win over the UNCW Seahawks, and came within 67 seconds of shocking the No. 1 seeded James Madison Dukes in the second round. She is responsible for coaching two-time CAA Defensive Player of the Year Breanna Bolden, who achieved All-Conference acclaim during both years of Jackson s tenure. Prior to the end of the season, Coach Jackson led the Cougars to a 68-4 win over UNCW, which set the all-time CofC record for fewest points allowed in a game. Candice M. McCallie. She worked mainly with the guards and was a part of back-to-back NCAA Elite Eight appearances in 01 and 013. During her time on the Blue Devils staff, Jackson helped sign three of the top recruiting classes in the nation. In 01, Duke inked the seventh-best recruiting class in the country which included the No. 3 overall prospect in Alexis Jones, and the No. signing classes in 013 and 014. In all, she worked with 1 McDonald s High School All-Americans, two WNBA First Round draft picks, two USBWA All-Americans, three Associated Press All-Americans and 15 ACC All-Academic Team selections. Prior to Duke, Jackson spent two seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Wake Forest University under head coach Mike Petersen. There, she aided in the signing of the program s first Top 100 signee and mentored two All-ACC selections. Jackson also helped lead the Demon Deacons to an 18-14 overall record and a WNIT appearance in 009-10. Prior to her arrival at Wake Forest, Jackson spent four successful seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Richmond under head coach Michael Shafer, where she helped take the team from a 13-17 record in 005-06 to a 4-10 finish and WNIT berth in 008-09. While at Richmond, Jackson oversaw summer camps in addition to scouting, recruiting and coordinating video operations. Jackson was also in charge of community service efforts for the Spiders. She worked closely with Spider guard Amber Petillon, who blossomed during her senior year under Jackson s guidance and has enjoyed an extremely successful career overseas. A four-year letter-winner at Michigan State University from 000-04, Jackson played for McCallie and was Coach P s first recruit at MSU.
