ASSEMBLY 3. Rotate the bottom of the generator around to the front of the ball valve with the red handle facing back away from the generator. Tighten clamps. 1. The generator is not attached to the PVC manifold for shipping purposes. Turn the grey elbows up and insert only the ends of the barbed fittings on the generator into the clear hoses. 2. Push the generator down so the barbed fittings line up. Do not tighten clamps. Finished assembly INSTALLATION FOR PVC PIPE WITH ANY TYPE FILTER View Installation Video on www.oxygenpools.com WARNING! DO NOT ATTEMPT INSTALLATION UNLESS ALL POWER TO POOL EQUIPMENT IS OFF All rigid PVC installations are different so you may have different requirements for the installation than outlined below. - Identify proper flow direction of the Oxygen Generator to ensure water is flowing in the same direction of arrow. - Measure and cut PVC after pool equipment and before pool returns. (Fig. 11). Adding unions to the PVC connections assist in removal for service or winterization (unions are included) - Using PVC primer, coat the inside of the manifold and the outside of the PVC pipe section (provided) feeding into and out of the manifold. - Repeat glueing the union collar onto the outside end of the PVC pipe section. Push together while twisting to ensure proper connection between the pieces (Fig. 12) - Complete installation by glueing union collar onto PVC cut section of pipe. 11 WATER FLOW - Wait 10 minutes before continuing to insure glue has a chance to harden. - Remove skimmer and return plugs or open shut off valves. CHECK FOR LEAKS. - Plug in and turn on pump. - Plug in Oxygen Generator into GFCI outlet and check to make sure light on bottom is illuminated. 3 12
STARTUP IMPORTANT: Before starting equipment, test the water as you would with any pool to balance the water (to estimate the number of gallons in your pool, go to www.poolchemicalcalculator.com) -Total Alkalinity: 80-120ppm -ph: 7.2-7.6 -Calcium Hardness: 200-400 ppm -Copper: less than.4 ppm ACTIVATE EQUIPMENT: Turn on equipment so water is circulating TO THE POOL. TREAT POOL WATER: Follow directions on Formula O pail for initial treatment: For initial treatment add 2lbs of Formula O' per 10,000 gallons and add water balance products. IMPORTANT!! After adding Formula O and the balancing products, run the entire system (pump, filter and oxygen generator) CONTINUOUSLY FOR 48 HOURS OR LONGER UNTIL THE POOL WATER IS PERFECTLY CLEAR MISCELLANEOUS: -Remove any fountain attachments on the pool return fitting. Oxygenated water must be injected directly into the water. It will lose its effectiveness if a fountain fitting is used. -Rotate the return fitting inside pool so it facing on a 45 degree angle pointed down and to one side to create a circular flow to the water inside the pool and so the oxygen bubbles are pushed lower into the water. After equipment is turned on, turn the handle of the ball valve slowly to divert water through the Dynamic Oxygen Generator. WATER FLOW Turn handle slowly until you hear a whooshing sound as water is diverted through the generator and bubbles begin entering the pool through the round return fitting. Smaller bubbles are best, so make small adjustments by turning the handle slightly to achieve the smallest bubbles possible. As your filter gets dirty, you may need to adjust the valve if bubbles become very large or stop altogether. 4
OPERATION DAILY: Run pool equipment and oxygen generator a minimum of 12 hours daily, during daylight hours. Running the system longer will provide even better quality water. Running the system continuously will provide the highest quality water. WEEKLY: Test pool water with the Oxygen Pools 4 in 1 Test Kit to verify levels. Add recommended dose of Formula O as directed on pail MONTHLY: Bring water sample to dealer to test for: - ph - Total Alkalinity - Calcium Hardness - Copper Treat water according to test results. Clean filter by backwashing or washing cartridge ANNUALLY: Check clear vinyl tubing and clamps on manifold to see if replacement is needed due to discoloration and degradation. Check inside Dynamic Oxygen Generator to see if vinyl tubing and check valves need replacement due to discoloration and degradation WINTERIZATION Flex Hose: Plug skimmer and return. Drain Oxygen Generator at the same time you drain the rest of your pool equipment. Remove entire manifold with generator by unclamping the flex hose from one end and unthreading the grey fitting out of the filter. Store in warm, dry place. Cover opening to filter. PVC Pipe: Drain Oxygen Generator at the same time you drain the rest of your pool equipment. Remove the Oxygen Generator manifold from the manifold by loosening the unions on each end. Tape the openings over open ends of the elbows. Store the generator, and manifold in a warm, dry place. 5
TROUBLESHOOTING AND FAQ How long should the system be run? Run pool equipment and oxygen generator a minimum of 12 hours daily, during daylight hours. According to directions on pail. How Long after I add Formula O can I go swimming? Non toxic Formula O dissolves quickly in the water so you can go swimming 15 minutes after adding. How do I know the Oxygen Generator is working? The LED light on the bottom of the generator is illuminated. There are small bubbles entering the pool through the return. The light on the bottom is not illuminated? Plug should be plugged into GFCI outdoor outlet. Check to make sure the breaker and outlet are in good working order. Check to make sure the filter and pump are working properly. If filter is dirty, clean filter and restart. Check clear vinyl hose on the Oxygen Generator, you can see bubbles entering the water there but not into the pool when the pump is running. This may be due to the speed of the water entering the pool. If you can see bubbles in the clear hose but not in the pool, the system is working properly but the bubbles may be too small to see easily in the pool. Listen closely to the top of the Oxygen Generator, you will hear a rushing sound when the Oxygen is being generated, if you can hear the Oxygen Generator working but no bubbles in the pool, the system is working properly. How Often should I test my Water? 4 IN 1 Oxygen Pools Test Strip Weekly, Swimming Pool Store Professional Lab Test monthly. My Pool Looks cloudy or green. The system is designed to maintain and keep your pool looking and feeling great. If there is a problem and the pool becomes dirty the Oxygen Pool system can correct the problem. Check filter and pump to ensure water is circulating properly. Clean filter if necessary. Make sure light on bottom of Oxygen Generator is on and bubbles are entering the pool via the returns when system is on. Double dose Formula O (2 lbs. per 10,000 gallons of water) Run filter and Oxygen Generator continuously on high speed for 48 hours. If necessary, contact your local Swimming Pool Store to inquire about adding an additional chlorine shock to fix the problem and then returning to an Oxygen Maintenance program. Can I use additional chemical products to Formula O? Yes, the system is designed to work with most chemicals, including chlorine. IMPORTANT: Do not use the Oxygen Pools System while using biguanide products in your pool. Biguanide products are not compatable with any other pool chemicals and must be removed from the water before starting any other water treatment program, including the Oxygen Pools Program. Do not use with bromine based sanitizers. Can I use a return fountain while using the Oxygen Generator? No, the bubbles of Oxygen stay in contact the water to be effective. The longer the bubbles are in the water, the better the system is working. Aim the returns down on a 45 angle so that the bubbles stay in the water as long as possible to be the most effective. My filter seems to be getting dirty quickly? The nature of using an Oxygen Based water treatment program means that more organic and inorganic materials are oxidized and broken down compared to other systems. This means more impurities will be filtered out and therefore the filter media is working better. The Oxygen Pools System may increase the need to clean the filter. The walls of my pool feel slick and I see a film on the water surface. New vinyl liners continue to cure for about a year after installation. What you see and feel are the plasticizer curing. There is no harm allowing this to cure over time. If desired to remove, add an enzyme pool treatment per the instructions on the bottle. 6
TRANSFERABLE THREE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY 1. Introduction This limited warranty is applicable to OXYGEN POOLS DYNAMIC OXYGEN GENERATOR installed for outdoor residential pool use. For purposes hereof, the term residential use shall be deemed to mean use of the System within any pool installed for personal use at a single family home. Public and semi-public pools are excluded from this warranty. This warranty is transferable to subsequent owners of the system during the warranty period provided the location of the system is unchanged from the original installed location. 2. Three Year Limited Warranty This warranty applies to this DYNAMIC OXYGEN GENERATOR and their factory-supplied components (the System ) when purchased from an authorized dealer and used for residential swimming pools. The System is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship in the manufacturing process for a period of Three (3) years from the original purchase date. Should the system exhibit a manufacturing defect within the first year of this warranty period, when properly installed and operated in accordance with the relevant manuals, the manufacturer will supply comparable replacement parts for the system according to its judgment without charge for parts. Should the system exhibit a manufacturing defect during years two through three of this warranty period, when properly installed and operated in accordance with the relevant manuals, the manufacturer will supply comparable replacement parts for the system according to its judgment at a price not to exceed 60% of the current Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price in effect at the time of the warranty claim. This warranty is applicable only if the system is installed, operated and maintained in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Owner s Manual. Failure to do so will void this limited warranty. Pool water must be tested regularly in order to properly maintain its chemical balance. Problems or equipment failures resulting from the failure to maintain pool water chemistry in accordance with guidelines set forth in the Operation Manual will void the warranty. Customer releases and holds the manufacturer harmless from any and all claims attributable in whole or in part to their failure to comply with the foregoing guidelines concerning maintenance of pool chemistry. 3. Exceptions & Liability Limitations The manufacturer, and their suppliers, dealer, and distributors SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES; DAMAGE OF ANY SORT OR NATURE RESULTING FROM ABUSE, MISUSE, NEGLIGENCE, LIGHTNING, ABNORMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS, OR ACT OF GOD; OR DAMAGE CAUSED BY IMPROPER OR UNAUTHORIZED USE, INSTALLATION OR REPAIR. This warranty applies only to components supplied by the factory and only where such components have been installed and maintained in compliance with the respective installation and operation manuals and instructions and applicable ordinances and codes. In no event shall the liability exceed the purchase price of the product. THE CONSUMER SHALL BE LIABLE AT STANDARD RATES FOR ANY SERVICE VISIT. This warranty shall be void if Customer modifies the Unit in any respect including, but not limited to the use of parts other than genuine manufacturer parts. If this inline salt chlorination system is installed for use on a commercial (non residential) pool, this warranty is null and void. Normal wear and tear parts are excluded from this warranty. these include clear vinyl hoses and clamps on the manifold and the vinyl hose assembly with check valves inside the generator. 4. How To Make A Claim Oxygen Pools will replace, at its option, a system or part proved to be defective within the warranty periods and under the conditions of this limited warranty. This limited warranty is void if the system has been tampered with (except for normal wear and tear parts in clause 3). The Customer must arrange prepaid shipping for servicing of the warranted items after proper authorization (call 877-24OXYGEN) or go to www.oxygenpools.com to request RMA. No packages will be accepted without a manufacturer issued Returned Merchandise Authorization (RMA). 5. Entire Warranty The express warranty above constitutes the sole and complete warranty and takes precedence over all other warranties, whether expressed or implied, including a warranty for fitness for a particular purpose. No sales representative, dealer, distributor, or other person is authorized to give any warranty on behalf of the manufacturer. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, prohibit the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or impose limitations on the scope of implied or express warranties (and the waivers therein) that may be inconsistent with the express limitations set forth in this warranty. In such states, the above limitations may not apply to you, or their application to you may be limited. This limited warranty shall be enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by applicable federal, state and local law. This limited warranty is valid only in the United States of America. You may have other rights depending on the state in which you live. 6. Proof of Purchase The consumer is responsible for establishing the original purchase date and the purchaser s identity for warranty purposes. The consumer is responsible for filling out the Warranty form and to send it to the manufacturer. We recommend that a bill of sale or some other appropriate payment record be kept for that purpose. 7. Warranty Registration Please register your product in order to activate your warranty.
