You will need to be able to scan and upload the signed physical form. Any questions, please call 262-255-8414 Requirements for clearing athletes for sports are: 1. Physical Form- MFHS CHEERLEADING A physical exam is valid for the 2018-19 school year if it took place on or after April 1, 2017. The physical exam date and a medical provider's signature need to be on the card. If the physical exam took place prior to April 1, 2017, the student will need a new physical for the 2018-19 school year. Again, the physical exam date and a medical provider's signature need to be on the card. Blank physical cards are located outside the Athletic & Activities Office. Cards from last year are available to be picked up in the Athletics Office during regular business hours.
2. Completion of online registration process- Click on the link https://menomoneefalls-ar.rschooltoday.com/. You will create a family account and then register. The only paper component of the entire process is the uploading of a current physical card. Note: The system will only accept ONE uploaded file. Please make sure that both sides of your card are in one file. If that is not possible due to equipment problem or whatever reason, please make sure that at least the FRONT side of the card (showing physical date and medical provider's signature) is uploaded. 3. $165 Athletic Fee (this is per sport with a family max of four sports) - This is paid during the online registration process with a debit or credit card only. In instances where a student is cut, quits prior to the first competition or must withdraw due to injury at the beginning of the season, the athletic fee will be credited back to the bank card that was used. NOTE: Athletes no longer need to bring a participation card to the first day of practice. Coaches will be given a list of cleared athletes. Please make sure that you allow enough time (preferred two business days) for the Athletics Office to review your registration. This also gives opportunity to correct any registration issues that would prevent the student from being cleared in time for the first practice. -Information Sheet -Athlete questionnaire -Parent Permission Slip Tryout Material Athletes will be responsible for learning the following for final tryouts: 1. Cheer 2. Dance 3. School Song 4. Jumps 5. tumbling All tryout material will be posted on the Falls Cheer website (www.fallsathletics.org/mfcheer) on FRIDAY APRIL 27 TH BY 7 PM. It is the responsibility of each athlete to learn tryout material prior to attending tryout clinics. Material will be reviewed at the tryout clinics but will not be taught. Athletes will be welcome to arrive at 4:30 to warm up and stretch/practice. Judging will begin at 5pm. We will have four-six judges from outside the MFHS cheer program to remain as unbiased as possible. MFHS Cheer coaches will not partake in final judging but will be present at final tryouts. Scoresheets are located at the back of this packet for reference.
Athletes will try out in groups of two or three to be randomly determined at the final tryout clinic. They will be required to perform: cheer School song Dance 4 jumps (toe touch, double toe touch, pike, hurdler of choice) Highest level running and standing tumbling skills After their tryout, the athlete is welcome to leave. Teams will be announced at 6:00pm on Thursday May 3rd. Final team rosters will be posted to the cheer website by 10pm that evening. Team Selection/Team Sizes Many factors will be considered when choosing members. First and foremost, the coaches will utilize the scores given by the judges. Tumbling scores will also be a major factor in determining team placement. This season, no athlete without at least a backhandspring will compete on the varsity team. We will consider tumbling potential when making final decisions. Stunting ability is also a major component that will be taken into consideration. At this time no decision has been made on team sizing. There is no limit to the amount of athletes we will take at the JV or Varsity level. This will be determined by the talent at tryouts. Attendance/Time Commitment It is important to know that cheerleading requires a very significant time commitment from our athletes. Our season runs from June through early March. Full calendar will be available at post tryout parent meeting. Practices Typically teams practice two to three evenings a week in the summer months and two evenings a week while school is in session. Varsity cheerleaders also coach the Junior Indians cheerleaders one night a week during the summer/early fall. Games Varsity cheerleaders cheer for all varsity football games (home/away) and most boys and girls home basketball games. These games typically begin at 7:00/7:30 pm. JV cheerleaders cheer at all home football games and most boys and girls home basketball games. These games are at 6:45/5:45. Cheering at games and supporting our Indians athletic teams is a top priority for the Menomonee Falls cheer teams and are not optional. Only those athletes who maintain attendance at all football and basketball games will be allowed to remain on the competition team. Competitions Varsity and JV cheerleaders typically participate in one or two competitions a month during the months of November-February. Competitions typically are held on either Saturday or Sunday and often encompass a large majority of the day. The JV team may attend an overnight competition in January for their State JAM competition. The varsity team may attend UCA nationals in Florida during the month of
February which is typically a five day, overnight commitment. If for some reason an athlete must miss a competition, their coach MUST be notified at least several weeks in advance to allow for appropriate routine modifications. Please note that this may result in an athlete not participating in a competition directly before or after the missed event. Financial Obligation Cheerleading is an expensive sport. However, it is entirely possible to cover all expenses through fundraising. Large team fundraisers (Indian Invite, father-daughter dance, kids clinic etc.) are mandatory for all athletes of the participating team. All individual fundraising is optional but recommended to cover personal expenses. Fundraising organization and implementation falls largely on parents/athletes. The coaches are more than willing to support any and all fundraising efforts. Each athlete will be given a personal account to keep track of expenses and fundraising efforts throughout the year. Statements will be emailed monthly. All outstanding balances will be due in January of 2018. No payments outside of tumbling classes will be required until this time. Please note that all outstanding expenses will be the responsibility of the parent/athlete.
