final information Causeway coast marathon 23rd Sept 2017 The preparations for the 2017 Causeway Coast Events on Saturday 23rd are well under way and with a matter of days to go to the start we hope that all competitors have the miles in their legs and are looking forward to the event. traffic annoucement We have been inundated with entries over the last week and are expecting a substantial amount of people traveling to the event on Saturday. We have placed a ONE WAY SYSTEM in operation for the duration of the event. Please adhere to all traffic management signs and respect the personnel you may come into contact with, it is imperative that we keep traffic moving through the village. BEACH ROAD will NOT be accessible by car, and it will be necessary to walk to the event hub in Portballintrae Village Hall. Access along Beach Road will be restricted to event personnel, emergency services and the event buses ONLY. Please allow plenty of time to get to the event registration location in Portballintrae. If you arrive late for pack collection or near the end of registration time expect to stand in a queue for a short time. trail conditions The trail in each event is a mix of sand, gravel, grass and tarmac. After a recent route reccy and in light of past weather conditions some of the grassy sections may be wet and slippery. Extreme caution must be exercised on these sections. As for shoe choice a trail shoe would suit if you have them to hand. route diversion In previous years there has been a diversion due to a landslide between Portbradden and Dunseverick. This has now been repaired and there will be no diversion. Great news! RESULTS, TIMES AND PLACINGS Full events results will be uploaded to 26 Extreme website after the event. Unfortunately, our timing partner will not be able to give you times when the system is running, so please be patient and wait for the online upload. post race banter Should you wish to join us for a pint the 26 Extreme Race Directors will be in the Bayview Hotel later that night for post race analysis. event photographers There will be approximately 6 8 photographers along the route and photographs will be uploaded a couple of days after the event.
weather The weather outlook for Saturday is currently calling for settled conditions with temperatures around 12 16 degrees. There is a possibility of a few light showers and combined with the wind on the north coast it could get chilly for runners later in the day. Please also note that due to a short wait at the start of each event you may get a little cold. We cannot take wind proofs or any other items of clothing back to the start line. cloakroom There is no cloakroom facility at the Causeway Coast Marathon. There is however a space where bags can be left but you will leave them at your own risk and they will not be manned. Do not leave valuables in this space. getting there and parking Pack Collection for ALL events is in Portballintrae Community Hall in the main car park next to the beach. On the day of the event, you cannot drive to the event area as this road will be closed the area is reserved for support vehicles, emergency response, ambulances and event buses. place to park. a parking space. There will be a tow truck on call and we will not hesitate to remove any vehicles causing an obstruction. which is located in the Car Park at the end of the Beach Road, Portballintrae. you approach. pack collection Pack Collection for all events is located in the Community Hall in Portballintrae in the main car park next to the beach. event buff.if you intend returning to your vehicle with these items prior to the event please allow plenty of time to get back for your event start as all events will start on time. collect your race pack for the race you ENTERED ONLINE ie - if you wish to change from half marathon to 10k, please ensure you collect your race pack before half marathon registration closes. If you do not collect your pack before registration closes, your pack will be recycled. kit & equipment Please refer to the Causeway Coast Marathon section on the 26 Extreme website for RECOMMENDED equipment requirements for each event. you use common sense when dressing for, and preparing for, this event.

There are a large number of entrants in this event.

Due to the inaccessible nature of a large section of the route it is impossible to have any more located en route. All participants in the Ultra Marathon can leave a with event organisers upon registration. We will transport it to a point en route for you. you happy! Please make sure you clearly identify your drop bag. We will transport it back to the event centre after the event also.
