1. Welcome and Club History On behalf of the members the General Management Committee would like to officially welcome you to the Tennis Club. Allt-Yr-Yn Tennis Club offers playing and social opportunities for the whole family. We are confident that you have made the right choice and we look forward to getting to know you on and off the court CLUB HISTORY Allt-yr-yn LTC is run and has been run for many years through our army of able volunteers without whom the club could not function. The club owes its existence to Courteney Charles Evan Morgan, 1st Viscount Tredegar OBE who sold the land freehold to Newport High School Old Boys' Association in 1925 for 200 (2009 equivalent 37,600)! Inaugurated in 1927 as Newport High School Old Boys' LTC the name was later changed to Allt-yr-yn LTC as it was deemed to represent a more inclusive image for club and community. Over the years the club has gone through many phases in its development. In 1994 the club house was extended to its present form and most recently the club opted to replace hard courts for artificial grass, firstly on four of the eight courts, then based on the success and popularity of the surface going on to resurface the remaining four courts with the same Tiger turf surface. At the same time the remaining courts were floodlit this represents a total investment over the period of over 150,000 giving us the fantastic facility we have today. In the last few years the Management Committee has worked hard not only to achieve the foregoing but also in achieving the Lawn Tennis Associations "club mark" standard and also Community Sports Club status which demonstrates the inclusive nature of the club. We are very much a family orientated club with many members having been involved for decades having introduced their children as a second generation and with an increasing number a third generation! In 2012 the club celebrated its 85th anniversary and we hope that with the continued patronage and loyalty of the current membership and those members we are yet to meet that it will go on to celebrate an extremely successful centenary!

2. Membership fees and member benefits Membership fees are due at the start of each calendar year. There are a range of different membership types and a range of different ways in which you can pay your fees. Please see the table below which outlines the current fee structure;

5. Useful Contacts and the General Management Committee The tennis club is run by the General Management Committee (GMC) who are accountable for running the club within the guidelines of the Clubs Constitution. The GMC are elected each year by the members as part of the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The club advertise for committee positions 3 months before the AGM and members are more than welcome to run for committee positions. Here are the current GMC members and their positions. Club Captain Steve Rowan Vice Captain Roger James Club Secretary Ann Powell (also Child Welfare Officer) Honorary Treasurer Fran Hollister Marketing and Communications Officer Richard Jones Bar Officer Mike Ryan Social Secretary - Roz Barker Smith Membership Secretary - John Edmunds Tennis Representative - Cheryl Buck The club also prides itself on having an active social media presence. Here are some of the platforms the club operates on

6. Top Tips to enjoy your tennis We do have a few club rules and if you can follow these that would be great! These are the rules for the courts: 1. Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing 2. Please wait until the change of ends before entering the courts 3. Please behave with consideration and courtesy at all times 4. No chewing gum on the courts 5. Please collect all the tennis balls in after play 6. Use only plastic drinking containers on court 7. All litter to be placed in bins provided. 8. Please close gates when leaving courts Other tips If you need any help or advise please ask, we re a friendly bunch! Please feel free to bring non-members to the club but try and keep it to a couple of times per year. Always feel free to send us any feedback about ways in which the club can improve. Make the most of the social events the money they generate goes back into the club for your tennis. If you want to use the floodlights please ask one of the organisers, coaches or committee members. You can also purchase tokens from behind the bar. Please remember the whole club is run by volunteers* so please treat them with respect at all times! Once you are a member its your club as much as anyone elses so please ENJOY YOUR TIME at the club! *apart from the Tennis Solutionz coaching programme which is professionally run and managed
