1. Welcome and Club History On behalf of the members the General Management Committee would like to officially welcome you to the Tennis Club. Allt-Yr-Yn Tennis Club offers playing and social opportunities for the whole family. We are confident that you have made the right choice and we look forward to getting to know you on and off the court CLUB HISTORY Allt-yr-yn LTC is run and has been run for many years through our army of able volunteers without whom the club could not function. The club owes its existence to Courteney Charles Evan Morgan, 1st Viscount Tredegar OBE who sold the land freehold to Newport High School Old Boys' Association in 1925 for 200 (2009 equivalent 37,600)! Inaugurated in 1927 as Newport High School Old Boys' LTC the name was later changed to Allt-yr-yn LTC as it was deemed to represent a more inclusive image for club and community. Over the years the club has gone through many phases in its development. In 1994 the club house was extended to its present form and most recently the club opted to replace hard courts for artificial grass, firstly on four of the eight courts, then based on the success and popularity of the surface going on to resurface the remaining four courts with the same Tiger turf surface. At the same time the remaining courts were floodlit this represents a total investment over the period of over 150,000 giving us the fantastic facility we have today. In the last few years the Management Committee has worked hard not only to achieve the foregoing but also in achieving the Lawn Tennis Associations "club mark" standard and also Community Sports Club status which demonstrates the inclusive nature of the club. We are very much a family orientated club with many members having been involved for decades having introduced their children as a second generation and with an increasing number a third generation! In 2012 the club celebrated its 85th anniversary and we hope that with the continued patronage and loyalty of the current membership and those members we are yet to meet that it will go on to celebrate an extremely successful centenary!
