SWIMMING NT CODE OF CONDUCT 1. All members of Swimming Northern Territory agree that our aim is to encourage and benefit from the competitive spirit; but in all matters the entitlement of others to be fairly dealt with, and their legitimate concerns and feelings, will be respected. 2. All members agree to behave in an appropriate manner and will not bring the sport or those who participate in it through Swimming Northern Territory into disrepute because of their participation. 3. Team Managers are to be aware and in control of their team at all times. 4. In participating in any swimming competition, all members recognise and accept that the competition is organised by people who have the interest of competitors uppermost in their minds. 5. All members accept that their participation is voluntary, and in participating, they volunteer to accept and abide by all decisions made by organisers. 6. All members recognise that mistakes will sometimes be made, but these will be accepted and borne in the greater interest of organised, friendly competition. 7. It is accepted that any question or protest in relation to any decision or course of action will be raised in a reasonable manner, and only to the extent allowed by the rules of competition where these apply to the situation in question. 8. In matters relating to the entry or withdrawal of swimmers from events, all members accept that officials will accept advice only from Team Managers (or persons acting in that capacity), in writing on an official form. 9. In matters relating to the rules of the competition, all members accept that the Referee will be the final arbiter. He/she will receive any protests made in the proper manner, and will make the final decision. 10. In matters relating to the general organisation of swim meets, the Meet Director (or his or her delegate) will be accepted as having the authority to manage the event, outside of technical issues, according to the best interests of the athletes. 11. All members accept that any individual transgressing this Code of Conduct may have his/her behaviour considered by the Board and may be penalised in an appropriate manner (eg. Exclusion from one or more SNTI swimming meetings or meeting to which an official team is being sent).

Incorporated into the Championships will be events for swimmers aged 8 years and Under 25m events (non- Championship events). Additional programs $2 each Sunday 21 st August Session 3: 10:00am warm up Competition starts at 11:00am Age: As at 19 th August 2016 Format: Entry Fee Event Limit Entry Times Entry Closing Date Online Entry Link All events will be swum as male and female timed finals, except for the open mixed relays which must consist of at least 2 female swimmers. $10.00 per individual event and $15.00 per relay event No restrictions on the number of events All Championship events (not the 25m events) require an official entry time using either Short Course or Long Course times. No time trails will be accepted. Qualifying Times must have been achieved on or after 1 st January 2015. Club Relay teams may enter with a No Time. 100m Individual Medley can be entered with a No Time. Entry for individual events (not relays) is only available via ONLINE ENTRY. The one start rule will apply to all Championship events Swimmers may not swim up an age group for age events Taping is permissible if it is not under the swimming costume and is accompanied by a medical certificate. The athlete must present themselves to the Referee 1 hour prior to the commencement of the meet. Marshalling Procedures Any entrant who fails to report to the Marshalling Area at least ten (10) minutes prior to the scheduled time for the start pf the session, if entered in the first or second event or at

any time of the start of the event at least two (2) events prior to the event in which he/she entered, shall be deemed to be a withdrawal. All heats shall be deemed to be one (1) event for the purpose of this rule. For all Relay Team events, the Team Managers are to report to the Marshall with the Teams Relay form. Names should be recorded in the order of swims on the form. It is the responsibility of all team members to report to eh check starter prior to the event. Medals Medal Presentations Dress Standards for Medal Presentation Officials Timekeepers Disqualification Protests Medals will be awarded to 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd place getters in each event. If a visiting swimmer is placed first, that swimmers receives the champion s gold medal and the first placed NT swimmer will also receive a gold medal. If visitors are placed second and third in an event, they will receive the silver or bronze medals as appropriate, and the second and third placed NT swimmers will also receive a silver or bronze medal. Medal presentations will be outlined in the program. The major trophy presenters will be presented at the conclusion of the meet. Please ensure that swimmers meet the presentation dress standards detailed below. 1. Minimum dress requirements for medal presentation are shirt and shorts, preferable state or club uniform. A T-SHIRT OVER BATHERS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. TOWELS ARE NOT TO BE WORN. Team managers should ensure that all swimmers meet these requirements. 2. No head ware is to be worn during medal presentation ceremonies. 3. Team Managers should ensure that swimmers marshal for presentations in a timely manner. Late arrivals will not be permitted to participate in the medal presentation ceremony. SNTI is seeking officials from all clubs to assist with this meet Clubs will be allocated timekeeping positions according to number of entries Where a disqualification of a competitor or team is recorded, an announcement will be made detailing the rule infringement and the lane number of the team of competitor involved. Any protest regarding athletes or events is to be made through the official Team Manager and at swimming Northern Territory Championship events, accompanied by a completed protest form and a $100.00 fee which will be refunded only if the protest is successful. At Championship Meets the Chief Referee is the sole adjudicator on any protests. Refer: SAL Rules CBL 13, sections 1-4 for further details: 1) Protests are possible: (a) If the rules and regulations for the conduct of the competition are not observed; (b) If the other conditions endanger the competition and or swimmers or; (c) Against the decision of the referee, however, no protests shall be allowed against decisions of fact 2) Protests must be submitted (a) To the Referee; (b) In writing on the SAL (SNTI) protest form; (c) By the responsible Team Manager only; (d) Together with a deposit of $100.00; (e) Within thirty (30) minutes following the conclusion of the respective pool event; and (f) Within thirty (30) minutes following the posting of results in Open Water If any conditions causing potential protests are noted prior to the start of the event, a protest must be lodged before the starters signal is given. 3) All protests shall be considered by the Referee. If the Referee rejects the protest, they must state the reasons. The team manager may appeal against the rejection

to the jury of appeal whose decision shall be final. If the protest is rejected, the deposit will be forfeited to SAL (SNTI). If the protest is upheld the deposit will be returned. Coaches & Team Managers Information Anti-Doping Policy Coaches: Please ensure you have your ASCTA Accreditation with you at all times as this will be your event accreditation, and may be asked to present during the event. Your ASCTA Accreditation gives you access to pool deck during warm up, and if required, during competition. Team Managers: All competing clubs (including interstate clubs) are required to nominate a Team Manager for each session. The Team Manager is required to attend the Team Managers meeting that will be held prior to the start of each session. Additional meeting may be called if required. Swimming Australia Limited is bound by the World Anti-Doping Authority (http://www.wada-ama.org/) and Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (http://www.asada.gov.au/) policies in ensuring athletes are able to participate in a drug free environment. Swimming Northern Territory supports the policies of Swimming Australia Ltd in being totally against the taking of performance enhancing drug within our sport. To this end, we advise all competitors that they may be drug tested at any of our sanctioned meets any and may be called for random testing during non-competition periods. Any competitor who refuses to undertake the drug test without a valid reason will be reported to swimming Australia Limited, as will any competitor who fails to test. Many medications contain banned and restricted substances as outlined in FINA s doping policy (based on the ICC list of doping classes and methods). Athletes must take great care in choosing medications, particularly when they compete in events where drug tests may occur. Open 1500m Freestyle (Female - minimum age is 13 years) Relays Trophies Records Multi Class Events The following relay events will be held: Open Male and Female 4x50m Freestyle, Open Male and Female 4x50m Medley, Mixed 4x25m Freestyle, Mixed 4x25m Medley In the Mixed Relays there must be at least 2xFemales in each team. The Swimmer of the Meet Trophy will be awarded to the swimmer who achieves the highest combined score over their six (6) highest scoring individual events based on the Hytek short course age group points system. NT Short Course Championships records are kept for this annual event and are displayed on the Swimming NT website www.nt.swimming.org.au under Competition>Records There are no Qualifying Times for Multi Class (MC) events. MC swimmers may enter non- MC events so long as the appropriate qualifying times have been met (standard rules will apply). Multi Class swimmers must have an eligible classification (with at least Provisional Status granted by Swimming Australia) prior to the commencement of the meet. Classification card must be presented to the recording booth prior to competition in order for classification(s) and exceptions to be noted. If swimmers have multiple classifications they must nominate which classification they will compete under prior to commencement of the meet. MC events will be conducted under the rules of Swimming Australia Ltd, with the exception that events will be swum as mixed gender (see below). NB: National records can only be achieved in single gender events. MC events will be swum as mixed age and gender Timed Finals and scored using the Swimming Australia Multi Class point score calculator. MC events may be combined with non-mc events if there are insufficient entries to form a competitive event.
