May Crime Report 2017 PURPOSE: The purpose of this report is to provide an analysis of Coeur d Alene crime for the month of May 2017. Information provided: Compstat Report for calendar month and year to date. Arrest Statistics for calendar month. Compstat Monthly Map for calendar month. Month-to-Month Comparison Maps Part 1 Crimes (Compstat Crimes) by calendar month. Crime by Neighborhood & Locations of Field Interview Map for calendar month. Temporal Heat Index: Calls for Service Chart by time of day and day of week. Calls for Service (Priority 1 & 2) Hot Spot Map by calendar month / Districts 81 85 DATA SOURCE: The information used for this analysis was Summit / Spillman data compiled using CrimeView Mapping / Analysis and Crystal Report / Excel Statistical Charts.

Aggravated Assaults 17% Increase: Incident breakdown - Eight domestics, four victim/suspect acquaintances and two assaults where the victim/suspect were unknown to each other. Dispositions: Twelve closed by arrest and two active cases. Rape 25% Increase: All of the reported cases have known suspects. Robbery Commercial: Dollar store robbery, nationwide bulletin issued with information from multiple agencies with similar cases. Arson Increase: Both incidents occurred at the Blue Grass Park in CDA Place. Appears to be juvenile involvement, minor damage. Auto Burglary 28% Increase: The majority of the incidents reported were in districts 81 & 84. Four suspects were identified, closing out five cases. Non-Residential Burglary Decrease: One incident reported, kayak taken from Tri-State Outfitters. Residential Burglary Large Increase: Incident breakdown - Two closed by arrest, seven active and six inactive. Cases have been reviewed and no distinct pattern (MO, suspects, locations). Theft 37% Increase: Thefts from building increased from last month. Part 1 Crimes - Monthly Analysis Vehicle Theft 60% Decrease: Incident breakdown 1994 Jeep Cherokee stolen, recovered by patrol and closed by arrest; Trailer taken from construction site. Traffic stops and pedestrian checks are now included in the Calls for Service statistics. Removing these two types of calls would show a 9% increase in calls, as opposed to a 25% increase.
