WOMEN S GOLF ASSOCIATION OF BCC The Women s Golf Association began their season on Tuesday, April 26. The ladies enjoyed a breakfast prepared by the BCC kitchen staff, but were unable to golf because of inclement weather. Attending the breakfast were: Gloria Hawkins, Christine Salmon, Becky Fresa, Rita Robbins, Kathy George, Tina Peterson, Penny Gage, Mary Ann Renzelli, Barbara Riggleman, Deb Goddard, and Wende Peaskorn. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and the ninehole scramble had to be cancelled. The ladies discussed several themes for the member/guest tournament which will be held on Tuesday, June 14. A wild, wild west theme was chosen; so get out your cowboy hats and bandanas. It was also decided that the format for the tournament will be a scramble. We will play in foursomes, so you can invite one guest or three if you choose to have your own foursome. Give a cowgirl golf friend a call and invite her to our wild west showdown! The member/guest will begin between 8 and 8:30 on June 14 with a continental breakfast and tee off at 9 a.m. Lunch will follow after the tournament. Cost is $50.00 per player and includes breakfast, golf, cart, lunch and prizes. Please send your name, your guest s names and handicap indexes with your check to Kathy George 714 Willis Avenue, Bridgeport by Tuesday, June 7. Flyers on the member/guest will be sent out with the men s member/guest information. For further information or questions, contact Mary Ann Renzelli at 304-641-6827 or Wende Preaskorn at 304-677-1780. Regular Tuesday play will begin on Tuesday, May 3 with tee off at 9:00 a.m. Please meet in the ladies locker room around 8:30. The ladies will have the par/birdie tree again this year and the ringer board for the most improved golfer. There is also a new set of tees on the course. The silver tees are for senior women and junior golfers and have their own slope rating in the handicap computer. Please post all scores under the appropriate tee rating. Women s Golf Clinics will be taught by V.J. again this year. They will be held on Thursday mornings at 10:00 beginning May 5 and will continue through the month of May. Sign-up sheets are in the pro shop. If you are interested, sign up quickly before all the slots become filled. See you out on the links! Couples Golf (Wine, Dine and Nine) will begin on Wednesday, May 11 at 5:00 pm. There will be a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the hallway. Come out and enjoy an evening of golf followed by dinner at the club! The second Couples Golf will be on Wednesday, May 25 at 5:00 pm. June dates will be set up before the next newsletter when we see what dates are good for the majority of the couples.
