News from the MAINTENANCE Sean Sullivan, CGCS Now that the grass is beginning to grow, we are starting to get on with the mowing programs. Fairways are being cut at 1/2 inch, which is a lower cut than normal for Briarwood. This year, in addition to the new mower I have added brushes to mower reels. It is anticipated that this will provide a better surface to play from. Also, some fairways have been widened or extended to help playability. Roughs will be cut at 1 1/2 inches, to be a little more user friendly. Tees, collars, and approaches are going to be mowed at.4 Inches. Greens are and have been cut at.125 Inches or a 1/8 inch. When extra green speed is needed a roller will follow the mower. Fertilizing the course will be done throughout the month of May. The course will be watered as needed to provide the best surfaces possible. Please consult with Pro Shop staff, regarding golf course etiquette. They can advise you on how to repair ball marks on the greens, filling divots on tee boxes, where and how close to park and drive golf carts around green and tee complexes. Sean Sullivan, CGCS
