The Historicl Society of Pennsylvni hs recently cquired the ppers of John Chloner, Commissry of Purchses to Wshington's rmy, comprising Letter Books, Receipt Books, Muster Rolls, nd voluminous correspondence connected with his deprtment. These very vluble ppers cover the period between the lter prt of 777 nd the cpture of Lord Cornwllis' forces t Yorktown. As whole, they develop better knowledge of the workings of this importnt deprtment thn other Revolutionry ppers in the collections of the Society or elsewhere. Wshington's orders for the movement of his rmy from Vlley Forge on the evcution of Phildelphi by the British rmy, nd few other documents, hve been selected for publiction.
