ESC Sports Supplement Word from Head of Sport, Kwok Chow It s the final edition of the Sports Newsletter for the Year 2013/14 and it s been an amazing first year for me at TES. I would like to thank all the coaches that have given up their time and energy to the students, the parents for supporting and lastly the student body who have performed with great sportsmanship throughout the year. My review of 2013/14 starts way back in August 2013. Trials for U15 Fobisia started first week back and there was excitement through the school with students full of energy after the long summer break. It was the Volleyball season for middle school and the high school were playing football and volleyball. All the teams trained hard for season one and performed well in the tournaments. One of the highlights was the JV Girls Volleyball team coached by AJ Lee who won their very first TISSA championship. We then moved on to the U15 Fobisia which was held at Kellett International School in Hong Kong. We achieved the best results ever for a Fobisia school and came back with trophies and medals galore with Kentaro Temma and Chloe Oani, the Most Valuable Athletes for Taipei European School. Moving on to season 2, high school moved on to their favorite sport of Basketball and middle school started the Softball season. There was some amazing games for the High School Basketball, with the Varsity Boys team just 2 points away from beating their arch rivals TAS for the first time. The teams that stood out though were the JV Boys and JVB Girls basketball teams who beat all comers and were crowned TISSA champions at the end of the season. The middle school softball was competitive and fun with Y8 Boys winning the TISSA Championship convincingly. ESC Newsletter 13 th June 2014 1
Middle school moved on to Football with the Y9s dominating their sport within the TISSA Sports Conference and winning the the Championship with ease. U13 Fobisia was another great tournament, with TES team securing 3rd place in swimming for the first time ever. Overall the U13 performed as well as the U15 s, with Audrey Lam and Douglas Lee the Most Valuable Athletes for TES. The middle school finished off their year with the basketball season with the Y8 Boys again winning the TISSA Championships! The high school finished their season with Football and Basketball again, with JV team coming in with a hard fought 3rd place. It was great year with 9 teams winning TISSA Championships. I will leave you with all the results of this year in all the tournaments, Most Valuable Player & Most Improved Players & Athlete of the Year winners list and lastly some more photos from the sports awards.
