Youth Girls Grand Final Youth Girls premiership was decided on the weekend with Redan beating by 42 points on in front of a huge crowd. Despite the scoreboard showing otherwise, the match was a tightly contested game. Redan held a 6 point lead at quarter time and had Lake Wendouree converted several opportunities in the 2nd quarter, the match may have been a lot closer than the final margin of 42 points. Best Players : Anna-Maria Rice, Indi Walker, Amy Jackson, Nikkita Alexander, Jordyn Gilmer, Kate Jackson Milestone Games Congratulations to Matthew McKenna and Oscar Pryor who play their 50 th club games this weekend. Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Spirit of Sport Awards For the third time in 2014 and through the leadership and guidance of Ballarat Police Officer and Blue Ribbon Foundation ambassador Jeff Whittaker, the Ballarat Football Netball League decided to continue the Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Football & Netball Awards Program. The program is designed to improve the general conduct of players in the U/16.5 football and netball competitions whilst improving the relationship between local Police and today s youth Netball Spirit of Sport Winner Celie Hay (Lake Wendouree Coach of the Year Awards U/12 Senior Coach of the Year Peter Bath (Lake Wendouree) Peter ensures that his training sessions are structured with a mix of fitness work and skill development providing his players with ample opportunity to prepare for games. Peter has surrounded himself with a fantastic team of Assistant Coaches and support staff to ensure his players are provided with the attention they require at such a young age. His approach is calm and consolidated and also commands attention when required. He constantly teaches his players how to be better people and act responsibly both on and off the ground. 11 & Under Coach of the Year Barb Carter (Lake Wendouree) For her Coach of the Year application, one of Barb s players submitted a letter to BFNL Operations Manager Aaron Nunn, which was read out last night Dear Mr Nunn My name is Rhyley Bath and it s my first year of playing Netball. I would like to tell you about my Coach Barb Carter. Barb has taught me a lot about netball and also being a good sport. She lets us play in all different positions and gives everyone a fair go. She never gets angry with us even though we can be annoying sometimes! I like how she encourages me and tries to make me a better netballer. I always want to play for her. I hope that Barb will be my coach again and wins the Coach of the Year Prize. Go Barb.

15 & Under Seniors Coach of the Year Lisa James (Lake Wendouree) Lisa s outstanding tactical knowledge and netball experience as a player and coach allows Lisa to impart her knowledge in a way that the girls can easily understand and act upon. She is a role model and mentor to other coaches in our club and is looked to for coaching advice, which she willingly provides. Lisa was also an outstanding BFNL Interleague coach not only coaching her side to victory, but also helping out the development of all teams. Best & Fairest Presentation Days Football Under 12 s and 14 s Netball 13 s Football Under 16.5 s Netball Under 15 & 17 s Sunday 31 st August at the clubrooms (Time TBA) Sunday 24 th August from at 6.00 pm at the clubrooms 2015 Each co-ordinator is to vacate their positions at the end of this season as we are looking to implement a formal committee structure next year to assist the club move forward. Information will follow shortly with structure and dates for meetings that are to be held to appoint the committee for 2015 and beyond. It s important that we get more people involved as many of the current co-ordinators and informal committee team are transitioning to the senior club as their children get older and we need to ensure that there is a smooth transition for the future of the club. It s also important to get fresh ideas and share the load. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Nat, Neil, Kate or Lisa to discuss.

Lost & Found Reminder for all players and parents to check your surrounding before leaving the clubrooms at the conclusion of your game.
