Parkview Family YMCA?s Adventure Guides Program strengthens and supports the bond between father and child. The program is designed for fathers to lead, influence and teach their kids in grades k-6 to explore the world around them. New members are placed into Circles?a group of 7 to 10 father?child pairs who live in a certain area. You will meet two to four hours a month. Circles meet once or twice a month for an hour at members? homes on a rotating basis. Circles also schedule one outing a month. Cheerleading Welcome to the Parkview Family YMCA Youth Cheerleading program. Our goal is to create a fun and safe environment that allow children to focus on learning. Our Advanced Cheerleading program will teach your child the fundamentals as well as advanced stunts, jumps, motions, and Dance Classes Beginning Ballet: Designed for beginning dancers ages 7 & up. Class instruction focuses on teaching correct body alignment, terminology, and technique. Through proper body alignment and technique students gain physical strength, flexibility, stamina, and agility. Creative I & II: Designed for beginning dancers ages 3-6. Creative movement allows children to gain an understanding of dance history and different cultures, while increasing their listening skills. It expands children's creative skills and increases their self-esteem through self-expression. Children learn body and spatial awareness, control, balance, and coordination. As they progress, they will gain physical strength, flexibility, stamina, and agility while developing locomotor movement. Sometimes it is hard for observers to see the concepts being learned as children leap and zigzag through the studio, however, important concepts are being conveyed to your child. The concepts of Space, Time, Force, Body, Movement, and Form are the concepts they will take with them through their dance training. Through it all, the primary goal is to instill a love of dance they will take with them through their lives. Fort Wayne Ballet provides curriculum and instruction in the art of dance. Family First Friday The 1st Friday of every month, we invite your family to join us for an evening of board games, activities, snacks, and fun! Only 1 family member needs to register. Financial Peace University In 9 lessons, you'll learn to take control of your money, invest for the future, and give like never before! Financial Peace Kit Provided. Friday Night Live Join us for a night of games, food, prizes and more! Come with a swim suit just in case. All activties are supervised by a Y staff member Fueling Your Faith Retreat Join staff, members, and friends from the community for this popular Christian Emphasis event designed to refresh you in spirit, mind and body. This afternoon retreat includes a brief time of teaching, four hours of retreat with different optional activities to choose from, and a meal ending with s'mores around the campfire. Guitar Lessons Guitar lessons are taught in a friendly and relaxed group environment with experienced instructors from Discount Guitar. 6 lessons in total Gymnastics-Bodies in Motion Designed for 3-4 yrs. Focus is on large and small motor skills, coordination and general body awareness. Kids have fun rolling, running, hopping, skipping, jumping and galloping. Gymnastics-Mom & Me Designed for ages walking-2 yrs. Adults and kids have fun moving to the music. Focus is on very basic large motor skills, coordination and general body awareness. Parents participate in class. Gymnastics-School Age Designed for beginning level gymnastics. Focus is on fitness and basic skill development. The skills taught are forward and backward rolls, basic cartwheels, bridges and balancing. Welcome to the Parkview Family YMCA Gymnastics program! Our goal is to create a fun and safe environment for our participants, while learning the basics of gymnastics movements. Event will be indoors Homeschool Programs Participants engage in activities that help children build self-confidence, gain team building strategies, socialize with other home schoolers all while having fun in a safe environment. Karate Classes are held in a non-competitive environment. Students develop balance, fitness, coordination, self-confidence and discipline while having fun. Our goal is to create a fun and safe environment that allow children to focus on learning. A uniform is not required during your child's first session. Please have your child wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes. For children 6 years and older who have completed beginning Karate and have received instructor approval. Please have your child wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes. New Member Receptions Nutrition Seminar Parents Night Out Need an evening out without the kids? Let us provide dinner and entertain your 4 to 12 year old while you have an evening out. We will have fun swimming, rock wall climbing, playing in the gym and getting messy with an art project. Children will be separated into age appropriate groups. Send them with swim gear on under play clothes. Send a towel and clean change of clothes (clearly labeled). If your child would like to climb the rock wall they will need closed toed shoes. Please note, young children must be potty trained. Registration deadline is Wednesday prior to event. Piano This group music class is a fun-filled experience for beginner piano students to learn basic music notation, rhythm, and piano technique. The goal of the program is to help children find an effective and efficient way to begin music study. This class utilizes many different types of teaching and learning techniques including instruction, hands on and fun activities, and keyboard playing. All participants must supply their own 61 note Key Board and Headphones. Keyboard with batteries is recommended Pickleball Pickleball, a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis, is the perfect way to get great exercise without overly taxing the body. Running Programs The program is for kids entering grades 2nd-5th to help with conditioning and practice of running. Running will be outside on the trail but will be on the indoor track of the YMCA in adverse weather. The non-competitive program will have experienced coaches that will supervise running, stretching, and running games. August 21st-October 4th

Scuba Certification This class teaches non-divers to experience the magic of SCUBA diving in the pool under the supervision of our Instructional Staff. With successful completion of the course, students are certified as SEI Open Water Divers. Spanish Classes Learn the basics of beginners spanish. Classes are taught in a fun environment with interactive activtities SPARK Kids Using Sports, Play & Active Recreation for Kids this drop-in class will provide children with high energy, rhythmic, engaging activities that foster social and motor development. Open to all children ages 3-7. Open to children with all abilities. Parents are encouraged to stay with their child during SPARK Kids. String Lessons Adult - Open to beginner adults and adults who have taken the string class before at the Y. Choose between a violin, viola, cello or bass. Participants will learn pool games and skills like, Water polo, Water Quidditch, crazy relay races, Aqua Zumbaa, Volleyball and synchronized swimming to name a few. Skills taught such as sculling, changing direction in the water, treading water, dribbling, passing and shooting a ball in water, aquatic fitness, following rules, teamwork and new friendships. Must have already passed or be able to pass the TMP swim test, be able to swim 25 yards continuously and tread water for 1 minute or have passed Stage 3 Water Stamina. Swim Lessons - Pre-Testing Children will be tested on their comfort level while in the water, ability to float, move arms and legs, and make forward progress. No appointment is neccesary, parents must come to the pool area and sign in at the table next to the pool. Instructors will test children on a first come first serve basis. Once the test is complete, parents will receive a blue slip listing the level their children have tested into. Parents may use the blue slip to register for swim lessons. Blue slips are valid for three months after they have been given out. Swim Lessons - Teen & Adult This class is designed for adults who want to learn the basic fundamentals of swimming, water orientation, and safety Swim Lessons - Adaptive This class, designed for participants with special needs, will focus on basic water skills & water adjustment. Helping participants gain confidence in the water & improve kicking & stroking ability. Through participation in the program, participants learn to feel more positive about themselves in a safe & relaxed environment that promotes success mixed with fun & play. Our Teen Life Skills class explores fun & relevant life skills that you can use today & later in life. Youth & Government: INYaG is an exciting opportunity for youth to step into the shoes of the individualswho run our State Government. This program provides high school youth the opportunity to study & debate public issues, experience the judicial branch of our state government, write legislation & participate in youth legislature. Students across the state of Indiana participate in their local District Conference & culminate the experience in a 3 day State conference in Indianapolis. Friday Night Live: Join us for a night of games, food, prizes & more! Come with a swim suit just in case. All activities are supervised by a Y staff member. Teen Night at the Rock: Climb to new heights at the rock wall. Explore positive decision making through the lenses of the 40 developmental assets. Learn how to dominate the rock wall with helpful techniques. Training - Lifeguarding The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical personal take over. Successful completion of this course includes certification in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, Emergency Oxygen, and First Aid. Training - CPR/AED/Oxygen

Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive certification in American Red Cross First Aid. Training - Safe Sitter Babysitting Course will teach potential babysitters how to care for children. 6 hour course. CPR included, but will not be certified Ukulele Lessons Ukulele lessons are taught in a friendly and relaxed group environment with experienced instructors from Discount Guitar. 6 lessons in total Yoga This workshop will look at ways to sequence yoga poses to fit our needs. We will use seven moving priniples- intergrating body, breath, and mind to help us in our daily living. Class runs September 6-October 25th Youth Flag Football Our Youth Flag Football program is offered for PreK-6th grades. Grades PreK-2nd will have a 1/2 hour practice immediately followed by a 1/2 hour game each Saturday. Times may vary week to week. Grades 3rd-6th will have a 1 hour evening practice through the week - game on Saturdays. Game times may vary week to week. Times will likely fall between 9am-1pm. All practices and games will be held at Praise Lutheran Church on Dupont Rd. -Mouthgaurds are required. and a Youth Volleyball Learn the beginning basics of volleyball such as serving, setting, and passing. Our Youth Volleyball program is offered for 1st-8th grades. Volleyball practice/game location is held in the Gymnasium at the Parkview Family YMCA on Saturdays. All grades will have a 1/2 hour of practice immediately followed by a 1/2 hour game each Saturday. Times may vary week to week. Times will likely fall between 9am-3pm.
